The first of three Navy SEALs accused of abusing a terrorist has been acquitted. Julio Huertas was cleared of all charges according to Fox News. Links will follow as available.
Huffington Post quotes Associated Press;
“There was no abuse,” [Huertas’ civilian attorney Monica Lombardi] said. “This is classic terrorist training.”
After the verdict, Lombardi said the jurors told her they had made their ruling because there were too many inconsistencies in the case and that they did not believe the prisoner.
Prosecutors refused to comment after the verdict, but in his closing argument Lt. Cmdr. Jason Grover said the SEALs were itching for payback for the killings of the Blackwater guards – two of whom were former SEALs – and that now the elite unit had “circled the wagons.”

Oh, Thank God!!! Thank God!! Thank you, Jonn, for posting this!!
Alright!! Who rubbed the two brain cells together and caused this spark of sanity!!?? This must be stopped!! (snark)
Actually, congratulations! And I’m sure the rest will be equally acquitted. Our brave ones must be allowed to do their job without politicians’ meddling.
Heard this on the radio this morning and just had to shout for joy. Ah, what a great start to the day. Ha-HA!
Damn. About time the higher command started thinking.
LOL, oh man, is that Gay Military Dating ad from Google for real? I thought you had put up a joke. Look at the main page Goggle ads.
the trial took 1 day and the jury took 2 hours to reach the verdict.
One acquitted, two to go, a big Bravo Zulu to the SO1’s Defense Team! Anybody that can, please raise an extra mug of beer in celebration for yours truly! Al Qaeda knows that the system is going soft on enemy combatants, so they teach them to basically cry Police Brutality. Only problem here is that, Special Operations personnel are some of the most professional people in the United States Military. They do not do this sort of thing. The whole trial process just leaves me scratching my head and asking “Why?”
One down and two to go. But, after it is all over with, can we expect these HEROES to have as sure a career as before the incident. In the past, being merely charged, puts a damper on the career of the person. So sad, but oh so true. Will the charges, but not the outcome, be the top page in their files, as is often the case?
I wonder if these guys realize that to win their case will deny them eligibility in IVAW and other Cowards Against War outfits? They could have taken their Article 15’s or whatever, left the service, and become star timers for the Pussies Against War; but no, they had to stand their ground and make their accusers prove them innocent. Sheesh! They’ve missed their chance at 15 Minutes of Fame.

Frankly-they were disqualified from IVAW membership because they actually served in Iraq and fought there.
Good results from the trial, but we need to keep up the pressure. Of the three SEALs, this case was the easiest to win.
