Shots fired in D.C. – For real

Two National Guardsmen from West Virginia have been shot in D.C., about two blocks away from the White House. Sounds like the gunman is in custody (and has also been shot). Conflicting information is coming out on whether the two soldiers are alive or dead. I hope to God it’s the former.

From the AP;

FBI Director Kash Patel said two West Virginia National Guard members shot Wednesday just blocks from the White House were still alive and in critical condition.

West Virginia’s governor initially said the troops had died, but later walked back the statement to say his office was “receiving conflicting reports” about their condition. The governor’s office did not immediately respond to questions about the attack and the condition of the troops.

Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser also said the Guard members were in critical condition at a hospital.

”This is a targeted shooting,” Bowser said.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. AP’s earlier story follows below.

Two West Virginia National Guard members who deployed to the nation’s capital were shot Wednesday just blocks from the White House in a brazen act of violence.

The West Virginia governor initially said the troops had died, but later walked back the statement to say his office was “receiving conflicting reports” about their condition. The governor’s office did not immediately respond to questions about the attack and the condition of the troops.

A suspect who was in custody also was shot and had wounds that were not believed to be life-threatening, according to a law enforcement official who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

“We are in ongoing contact with federal officials as the investigation continues,” Gov. Patrick Morrisey said.

Law enforcement was reviewing surveillance video from the scene and believed the suspect approached the soldiers and pulled out a gun, said another law enforcement official who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke to AP on condition of anonymity.

At least one of the soldiers exchanged gunfire with the shooter, the official said. Investigators were trying to determine the gunman’s motive, including whether the suspect was targeting the troops for any specific reason, the official said.

The shooting happened roughly two blocks northwest of the White House.

Social media video shared in the immediate aftermath showed first responders attempting CPR on one of the soldiers and treating the other on a glass-covered sidewalk. Other officers could be seen steps away restraining an individual on the ground.

Stacy Walters said she was in a car near the scene car when she heard two gunshots and saw people running. Almost instantly, law enforcement swarmed the area. “It’s such a beautiful day. Who would do this, and we’re getting ready for the holidays?”

Emergency medical responders transported all three people to a hospital, according to Vito Maggiolo, the public information officer for the DC Fire and Emergency Services.

The presence of the National Guard in the nation’s capital has been a flashpoint issue for months, fueling a court fight and a broader public policy debate about the Trump administration’s use of the military to combat what officials cast as an out-of-control crime problem.

We’ve reached the point where the article descends into irrelevant bullshittery, so I stop copying.

  1. Praying for the soldiers and their families. What awful news to get this Thanksgiving Eve. Certainly whoever did such a thing was lowest of garbage.

    1. They’re already bemoaning about how this is exactly what Trump wants to declare martial law.  🙄

      It does nicely blow up the judge’s opinion from last week;

A federal judge ruled Thursday that President Donald Trump’s deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., was illegal, concluding he lacks authority to send in troops “for the deterrence of crime.”

      Biden judges for you.

  2. If its a criminal, life in the electric chair. If its a political act, GITMO for enhanced interrogation.

      1. (Looks at couch shaped pile of ammo cans in living room, with a cheap couch cover thrown over it)

        Got nothing on this topic….

        1. A former coworker and still friends house recently destroyed by fire. He has (had?) a stockpile of weapons and ammo in his basement. Surprisingly, it burned down to the subfloor, and didn’t affect the basement. Not sure how much if any basement stuff is salvagable. He doesn’t know yet either, but I’m sure the water damage will be significant. He isn’t sure how much, in any, the insurance will replace as needed. He’s bumming.

          1. Terrible time of the year for that(like there is a good time!🤦). Hopefully, he is able to salvage all, at least most of his “tools”, and many heirlooms!

  3. An un-vetted Afghani, that arrived in 2021!

I say this sincerely with all of my heart,,, FUCK Biden and every one of his America hating handlers! His 4 years in office, and the amount of damaged that was caused, may never be righted!

    1. C’mon man! Joe said everyone crossing the border was vetted by you know, the thing! I ain’t lyin’!

    1. OHHH!!!! Now it makes sense! He has anger issues because it’s been YEARS since he last saw his junk!!! If ever!!!!

      Short rope, tall tree!!!

      1. There is actually a slang word in German for that. It’s “spiegeleier”. I’m sure plenty on this blog know at least some Deutsch, but for those who don’t, “spiegel” is a mirror and “eier” is eggs, here the slang for your balls. So, you’re so fat that you need a mirror to see you testicles.

    2. Oh! And BTW! I wish that someone with some testicular fortitude would walk up and punch him right in that smug, satisfied face!!!

    3. Any word on who shot Rahmanullah Lakanwal? And if this incident is deemed “international terrorism,” will the Guardsmen be awarded Purple Hearts?

      1. It’s academic. The only real debatable (and ultimately irrelevant) part about the criteria is whether the attack would be classed as enemy action. It should be a fairly short debate, as there is nothing more definitively “enemy action” as someone actively and intentionally shooting at you while you are performing your official, uniformed duty.

The shooter’s foreign status is debatable as to whether he was representative of a “hostile foreign force” or an “international terrorist attack,” but it certainly doesn’t take away from the larger definition of an enemy.

10 USC 1129 even allows for the award as the result of friendly fire; quoted, in part:

“(a) For purposes of the award of the Purple Heart, the Secretary concerned shall treat a member of the armed forces described in subsection (b) in the same manner as a member who is killed or wounded in action as the result of an act of an enemy of the United States.
        (b) A member described in this subsection is a member who is killed or wounded in action by weapon fire while directly engaged in armed conflict, other than as the result of an act of an enemy of the United States, unless (in the case of a wound) the wound is the result of willful misconduct of the member.”

In my mind, not personally being a member of that Order, they absolutely qualify.

        1. More pressing, in my mind, is the hope that they – and not their next-of-kin – will be able to accept the award.

      2. I would say yes. There was a Sailor who worked for me who was wounded when some Puerto Rican dissidents attacked a Navy bus in Puerto Rico. She received the Purple Heart.

    4. The left has been arguing lately that INS has been “going after” “non-violent, non-criminal” immigrants. This man wasn’t violent until he shot two guardsmen for no reason, clearly negating that ridiculous argument.

  4. Deport them all. And then the ones who are citizens keep an eagles eye and a beagles nose on them.

  5. They better heal the shooter up quickly so we can fry him in a chair. Well, on second thought, we don’t want him on the Hassan freeride timeline. Better start a slow leak, some place on his body he can watch his lifeblood slowly drip away. One drop at a time.

    1. NO surprise to me. On social media libtard moonbats are going full throttle doing so like PDJT personally brought him into the USA. I’ve been there, most Afghans will change sides or allegiance at the drop of a hat or batch of goat turds.

    1. …A Major in the National Guard, who was unarmed and doing his spot checks of the guardsmen was in the block, heard the shots and turned to see the shooter who spotted him. He took cover behind a truck.

The suspect came for the Major who pulled out his pocket knife, and bravely took on the suspect who was reloading his revolver.

The Major began stabbing the suspect in the head.

Another guardsman in the area who was armed, them drew his pistol and shot the suspect twice, once in the leg and once in the buttocks.

The Major stated that when the suspect began shooting he heard him shout, Allahu akbar!”

The major’s a badass. Brought a knife to a gun fight.

      1. According to the report I just read, the enemy shooter approached the several guardsmen and shot them within less than ten feet with his revolver. He shot the female in the chest; then seized her weapon and used it to shoot her in the head, point blank. I would happily pull the rope on this ‘Slamonazi POS.

        1. According to her father, who is at her bedside, this beautiful 20-year-old PFC has a “mortal wound” and is not expected to live. I suspect she is on life support due to being shot in the head. Pirro needs to do everything she can to get this bastard the “big sleep” he so richly deserves.

      2. Decorate that Major, ASAP. Promote ahead of peers.

And, -strongly- encourage him to have lots of children.
