MCSO: ‘Well, your packages are safe’; Jackson resident charged with first-degree theft

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office on Friday morning quipped on Facebook that, “well, your packages are safe today.” The MCSO went on to state Todd Bond has been arrested and sent to Mobile County Metro Jail.

Jail records show Bond, 46, of Jackson, Miss., is charged with first-degree theft of property. He was booked shortly after 6 a.m.

On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office asking for the public’s help identifying the person in the accompanying video. The MCSO said the person is a “porch pirate,” and the video shows packages being removed from a residential porch.

In a news release early Friday afternoon, the MCSO stated that at about 1 a.m. patrol deputies spotted a black Ford Escape traveling eastbound at a high speed near Boe Road Extension and Spanish Trail. The driver — Bond — was pulled over, and deputies found several packages in his vehicle that matched the description of packages stolen from a residential porch, the MCSO said.

Several other packages originating from Mississippi were also found, and law enforcement officials there were notified, officials said.

  1. I have a feeling that “Mr” Bond is not going to be released on bond.
    And as I gaze into my cracked and cloudy crystal ball, I also see “Mr” Bond on a future cover of “Prison Brides”, along with the story title, “Best New Employee of the BTJT Prison Deli”.
