Israel Bus Attack: Armed Civilians Helped ‘Neutralize’ Terrorist Killers

An unknown number of “armed civilians” is being credited with helping “neutralize” two terrorists who opened fire at a Jerusalem bus stop Monday morning, perhaps underscoring the benefit of armed citizens who can fight back.Various news agencies are reporting the tragedy, which so far has claimed six lives and left at least a dozen wounded. The Times of Israel is reporting that the Palestinian terrorists were residents of the Wet Bank. They opened fire on people waiting at a bus stop. An off-duty soldier immediately returned fire, and so did “a number of civilians.”
Fox News’ report only indicated one armed citizen was involved, but the Associated Press is also indicating more than one armed civilian was involved.
In the aftermath of the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attack, which saw 1,200 people murdered, “Requests for gun permits surged,” according to the Times of Israel. The report said Israelis had submitted more than 403,000 requests for firearms licenses since that bloody attack nearly two years ago, and so far, more than 217,000 “conditional approvals have been granted,” according to the National Security Ministry, the report said.

Good on the locals for stepping up and fighting back.

Can’t authorities just erect “Gun Free Zone” signs at major gathering points?
To stop an attack you must be prepared to fight the attacker. Pleas for mercy will not work nor will creating “gun free zones” deter a criminal / terrorist. Those intent on killing are deterred by being killed themselves.
When I was stationed in Jerusalem way back, there were already weapons all over the place whenever I went out on the town. Very interesting to see the mix of Israeli security forces, open carry of pistols and ARs by civilians, and my favorite, the motorcycle cops with a back seater armed with a rifle. I sat next to a guy at the Marine Corps Birthday Ball (yes the small embassy guard contingent hosts one every year) who was one of the motorcycle riders who had very interesting stories about their live fire techniques from the bikes.
I’ve been seeing reports out of Houston of some Muslims demanding that stores quit selling beer, pork, or lottery tickets.

Muslimish, sort of. They are members of the Nation of Islam, which is quite different than actual Islam. Malcolm X figured out just how different and that is why they murdered him; because he was planning on outing them.
They do this stuff from time to time. Every once in a while they will gun up and chase the local drug dealers out of the hood as well. Those are fun times when caught on camera. The local dealers are actually scared of them when they get in a mood because they are cray-cray.
I like the part of their religion where they talk about the revered “mothership” orbiting above the Earth.

This is the attitude that should have been shouted to the gays when they demanded gay scouts (yes) and gay leadership (NO!). Start your own!

My follow-up yesterday I was told “no restrictions – other than bungee-jumping” which I don’t do noways.
Someone has to explain to me why Israel hadn’t previously had a well-armed citizenry. If ever there were a nation of people who understood the danger faced by an unarmed population, one would think Israel would be the place. Imagine what would have happened to those “flying in” on October 7th, or those who attacked the music festival. More to the point, that and countless others attacks would never have happened. Terrorists and bad guys don’t go after places where the intended victims can shoot back.
Seriously, someone explain it to me.
