David Plouffe, the Obama campaign manager has a book coming out early next month and George Stephanopolis released some of the more glaring admissions Plouffe makes. Probably the biggest Doh! moment is his admission that they didn’t bother to do any research on the candidate himself;
Plouffe writes, “ …we had done zero research on our own candidate beyond a small and incomplete package from the 2004 Senate race. With this lapse, we were violating a central rule of politics – know more about yourself than your opponents and the media do. Since we had not scrubbed every quote, vote, speech, and donor of Obama’s, we knew we’d be getting questions we couldn’t foresee, unless he remembered each incident and vote precisely, we’d be scrambling to mount a defense.”
That explains why so many people ended up under the proverbial bus and why the campaign refused to grant much access to the candidate beyond carefully scripted events.

More sadly, these admissions will re-invigorate the birthers, among others…
Keystone Kops reference on the part of ‘The Obama Team’.
“Since we had not scrubbed every quote, vote, speech, and donor of Obama’s…”
Is Plouffe admitting that eliminating or altering records of a candidate’s past, views, and associations is standard practice?
Frikkin’ morons. All of ’em.
I hope to stay drunk until the ’12 elections. I’ll sover up enough to work to get the asshats out of office next year, though.
I truly hate these creeps. They make Nixon and his plumbers look like altar boys.
But it does not explain the duplicity and willingness of the press to not actually do their job and dig deeper into The Won’s past.
Dave: The reason why the press didn’t dig deeper is that they didn’t have t. They already know much more than they tell us, but he’s their messiah; a walking, talking, socialist/marxist/communist and they couldn’t be happier. Anyone who voted for Obama knew that there wasn’t a whole lot to the guy, that he had zero in the form of executiveexperience, that he had 144 days as a US Senator before running for President, that he voted “present” more times than he voted for or against any legislation, etc.
He’s the true life “Manchurian Candidate”, because so little about him was put out in the mainstream media, yet the opposition VP candidate was vetted and attacked more than their own Presidential candidate.
I asked an Obama suppoerter, one day at work, why they were voting for him and what issues they liked his stance on. I got the “deer in the headlights” look and then I heard Hope and Change, like they were reading it from a teleprompter like their messiah.
Old Trooper, I get the same reaction from some of the teachers I know. One admitted, somewhat lamely, that she “always votes for” the ones recommended by the MEA. So, yeah, our kids minds are in great hands, they have teachers that can’t think for themselves.
And you’re right about the media, even Brokaw admitted that the media did squat in vetting the 0.
