Police in Houston, Texas, have identified the shooter who opened fire at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church on Sunday as Genesse Ivonne Moreno, Fox News has confirmed.

Moreno, originally from El Salvador, who had a lengthy criminal record, also previously used the name Jeffrey Escalante Moreno, investigators said. The shooter was killed after off-duty police officers at the church responded to the incident. Police said two people were injured – a 57-year-old man and the child who accompanied the shooter.

Preliminary reporting indicated the shooter was transgender, but in a Monday news conference, investigators identified her as a woman and the biological mother of the 7-year-old child.

A search warrant showed that Moreno pointed an AR-15 at the officers who then fired upon her and killed her in self-defense.

The preliminary reporting also indicated that the message “Free Palestine” was written on the rifle; investigators said later it was just “Palestine.”

Moreno entered the church with a long rifle, wearing a backpack and a trench coat and accompanied by the child, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said.

RCSD: Fatal Columbia shooting determined to be self-defense

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – A woman shot and killed a man in a self-defense shooting early Sunday morning, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department (RCSD).

Deputies said they responded to a shooting at Greenbrier Apartments in Columbia around 5 a.m. Sunday. Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered a woman had shot and killed a man in her apartment.

RCSD said the woman stated she heard banging at her door, and as she moved towards the door, a man entered into her apartment that she shares with her two children.

The woman told investigators she retrieved her gun out of her purse and asked the man to identify himself. She said the man continued to approach her, and she shot him.

Police: Chicago Man on Ankle Monitor in Murder Case Found Shot in Stolen Car with 2 Guns

A Chicago man with an ankle monitor who was already up on 160 charges, including murder, has been charged in a new shooting after allegedly being found with two guns in a stolen car.

Torrey Lewis, who has a long criminal record, was found wounded in a stolen car in the parking lot of an auto parts store in the south suburban Chicago town of Dolton, police said on Wednesday. Officers found a rifle and a handgun on the front passenger seat, and a second man was found shot in the back seat, WLS-TV reported.

Police say Lewis was involved in a gun fight that injured four people. The gunfight occurred when multiple people jumped out of two cars and began firing at each other.

The Cook County Sheriff’s department has admitted to having the suspect in the electronic monitor system but also noted that the convict was on one of his “free movement days,” and they were not monitoring him at the time he was involved in the shooting.

This “free movement day” consists of two days a week automatically granted to suspects and convicts on ankle monitors, a mandate that is contained in the state’s recently enacted soft-on-crime SAFE-T Act that also eliminated cash bail in the Land of Lincoln.

  1. The article didn’t mention if the Osteen church shooter was a citizen, an immigrant, or an illegal.

    I do know that all the gun control laws currently on the books didn’t prevent this person from obtaining a gun and attempting to commit murder.
    And the FedGov wants to add more gun laws?

    I’m sad to say that I almost hope the child dies. After being raised by a mentally sick (single) parent, it would take a strong adoptive (Christian) family to take that child and raise them to be a (semi) normal adult. I’m afraid that the child would show up in a future news story, “….child of Ms Moreno, committed (atrocious act)……” .

    1. Spotted an ID for she/he/it/whatever and can’t find it again now, Tox. It was an “immigrant” ID, “white” born in El Salvador, multitude of configurations of the name. Only thing about this individual that we know for sure is that “It’s dead, Jim.”

  3. All this shit my opinion: That dip shit does have a lengthy record. Bunch of misdemeanors (assault, forgery, evading, etc.) Most of those pleaded down. Couple of 3rd degree felonies (one assault on LEO Plead down).

    Most current, I could find, was in Katy (04/2022). Wait for it……………….Unlawful possession of a weapon. Punishment: 2 days time served.

    Look, I am as 2nd amendment as they come, just lawful, that is all. My question is: What the fuck. Did they not enforce because she was a she in He’s clothing?

  9. I don’t know why using a child as a human shield is unthinkable? That is exactly how the Palestinians do it. Whatever it was, learned that from the best. Of course almost like wouldn’t have happened if we had an effective border.
