Police: Man shot, killed while forcing way into BC apartment

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say a man died after he was shot while forcing his way into a Battle Creek Apartment.

Around 9:41 p.m. Wednesday, Battle Creek Police arrived to Georgetown Estates Apartments on Columbia Avenue and S. Burdge Street in Battle Creek to find 40-year-old Donald Richard Guthrie with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a Kalamazoo hospital and pronounced dead.

Officers with the Battle Creek Police Department said it seemed Guthrie had forced his way into a victim’s apartment and the victim shot him. Police said the victim acted in self-defense. They did not say if the victim and Guthrie knew each other.

Seguin police identify driver in deadly officer-involved shooting

Seguin Police Department has identified the deceased driver as 42-year-old Alejandro Saucedo of Marion. Police say Saucedo pointed a firearm at Guadalupe County SWAT members and that’s when SWAT fired at Saucedo. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

One of the passengers, 21-year-old Zoey Solis of Gonzales, was taken into custody and charged with manufacture or delivery of a substance. The other passenger was detained and released.

    A Minnesota man was charged Friday with fatally beating an elderly man previously convicted of child sexual assault, who he believed had stalked his young daughter in the past.

    Levi Axtell, 27, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Lawrence V. Scully, 77, who was beaten to death Wednesday at his home in Grand Marais.

    A criminal complaint filed Friday said Axtell killed Scully with a shovel and a moose antler and then drove to the Cook County Sheriff’s office and confessed, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.
