Man shoots woman in neck, but the bullet exits and kills him, Texas cops say

A Texas man is dead after he shot a woman and himself with the same bullet, Dallas police say.Byron Redmon, 26, is accused of shooting a woman in the neck at an apartment along the 2200 block of Medical District — and the bullet hit him too, the Dallas Police Department said in a release.
Officers responded to a call regarding the shooting at 11:39 a.m. on Saturday, July 30. They arrived to find an empty apartment, with a trail of blood leading out from the front door, police said.
A short time later, a man and woman with gunshot wounds were found in a vehicle outside of a hospital nearby, according to the release.

Officer shoots knife-wielding man in west Houston, police say
Police said the man was running towards officers with a knife when an officer opened fire.

HOUSTON — A man is in the hospital recovering after being shot by a Houston Police Department officer late Saturday night.According to HPD, the man was suffering a mental crisis and charged at officers while holding a knife outside an assisted living facility on the west side of town.
“He reportedly had a knife and was threatening people … somebody within the house,” HPD Assistant Chief James Jones said.
Officers arrived just before midnight and spotted the man outside of the house. When they gave the man commands to drop the knife, he didn’t comply and instead moved toward an officer, police said.

Neighbors said it’s not the first time police have been called to the home on Riverview Circle.
“It’s been a real unfortunate place to have a home for the mentally ill,” neighbor Bill Gual said.

Bullets do funny things. This one, though, is one of the odder ones. Whole studies have been done on terminal ballistics, and while most describe what happens, other than generalization about expansion or penetration depth, very few are predictive of the bullet’s path. Too many variables.
