George Floyd mural demolished by literal Act of God

And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven – Luke 10:18

George Floyd street “art” demolished by lightning

Both ninja and Poetrooper send this one in. Are the end times upon us? I know people have been predicting the End of Days for centuries and all been wrong, but maybe this   is the sign that it’s time to crack each other’s skulls open and feast on the goo inside.

Toledo Blade (among many sources) reports;

The painted bricks of a Toledo mural honoring George Floyd crumbled Tuesday.

The piece, on the side of the former Mugshots Bar at the corner of Summit and Lagrange streets, reportedly collapsed about 5:17 p.m., Toledo police on scene said.

The cause of the damage is not known.

City building inspector Hugh Koogan said it appeared to be a result of natural deterioration. The city had noticed the middle of the wall, where most of the damage occurred, bowing recently, he said.

“It was just age. It just came away,” Mr. Koogan said. “It happens to the older buildings.”

The Toledo Fire and Rescue Department, however, is listing the cause as a lightning strike, based on witness reports and the scene, spokesman Sterling Rahe said.

That witness told authorities they saw lightning strike the building at the site of the collapse, but Mr. Koogan, who talked to the person, said he found no signs to support that theory. He also dismissed claims that the rainy weather was to blame.

The artist, David Ross, said he is skeptical of the cause.

He painted the mural, titled “Take a Breath,” in the summer of 2020 amid Black Lives Matter protests following the death of Mr. Floyd under the knee of former Minneapolis police Officer Derek Chauvin. Chauvin was later convicted of murder and sentenced to 22.5 years in prison.

Mr. Ross remembers receiving threats and criticism at the time. It makes him wonder now if someone vandalized the mural.

“When I did the mural, there was stuff on the wall that I couldn’t remove and that let me know how strong that structure was,” Mr. Ross said. “The lightning thing, that’s possible, but I know it didn’t just fall.”

Either way, he’s planning to resurrect the mural at a new location.

“I’m not upset because I know I’m going to do it again, whether it was natural or vandalism,” he said.

The property owner declined to comment but was working with a contractor to secure the site. He was seen tossing bricks into a pile to clear the sidewalk.

  1. are they going to make this a racist thing….i mean after all god is considered white

  2. When God shows He’s tired of CRT and the RAYZZZISTT!!! card, someone needs to listen.

    Not that they will.

  3. When the Lord decides to eschew His usual subtlety and give you a blatantly obvious sign telling you to knock that shit off, it’s probably a good idea to take a hint. He also tends to reserve such action for false idols corrupting His people.

The message here is loud and clear.

  4. BwaahahahahahahahahahahaahahahaahahahahagaspgasphahahahahahahahahahahahapantpanthahahahahahahahahaGood one God! Go Big Guy! Go Big Guy! Go Big Guy! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!

Guess you don’t feel so Saintly now, do you George? Guess what, you dead career drug abusing criminal? You NEVER were Saintly, except to the blind followers that used your self murder to advance their own agenda. Vengeance is Mine, Saith The Lord. And Behold, you dead Heathen Son of Satan, His Mysterious Ways and the Wonders of His Works. Even Jesus, with all of His Teachings of Love and Forgiveness, still managed to cop an attitude, breaking out whips and turning over tables and such. The Big Guy don’t fool around, goes straight to the Thunder and Lightning approach. Bwaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

I hope the City does rebuild this mural. And adds to the narrative all of the life’s accomplishments of Good Ol’ Saintly George. PHUQUE HEEM!!!!

  5. Some years ago, I would accept the honour of escorting a local traditional Ojibway healer to a yearly Pan-Indian Elders conference in Tuba City, Arizona. While I was helping my healer-friend prepare for her speech, one of the local speakers/teachers was in mid course of his talk/teachings(Wally Brown, Navajo nation) and I distinctly remember hearing him say “Lightning does not happen by accident, it is always a message from Creation”. In this case, I’m hard pressed to disagree…

    1. Speaking of American Indian teachings, I once heard an acquaintance of that heritage say about Daylight Savings Time: “Only a white man would think that cutting the top off a blanket off and sewing it onto the bottom would make the blanket longer.”

      (Thought that was funny…)

    1. I’ve never heard of this. I had to google it.
NOW, I’m going to be watching this with the kids tomorrow.

SPOILER!!! Kung Fury II is being released next year!!

  6. Thor saw the mural, thought “That’s enough!” and swung his trusty Mjolnir. In other news BLM has begun demanding reparations from him!

    1. When they decide it was, in fact, a lightening strike. Which is further proof of the biggest existential threat-Climate Change! Which, we all know, is Trump’s fault because he pulled out of the Paris Climate Accord!

Do I need to add the /sarc tag?

  7. *NEWS FLASH*

BLM has now publicly declared lightning to be racist…

    1. Walls and roofs (all structures in general) are racist because they represent an area where people can be held captive (or confined) to a specific place, like a plantation.

  8. Once again, Derek Chauvin did not cause the death of the non-compliant drug using career criminal George Floyd.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program…..

  9. “When I did the mural, there was stuff on the wall that I couldn’t remove and that let me know how strong that structure was,” Mr. Ross said.

So, just what was the “stuff on the wall” that he COULD remove? “Stuff” that might have been structural? What are the odds that his removal of stuff caused the eventual collapse?

  10. Well, if you really think about it, lighting is extremely high voltage and is notorius for blowing things up. And if there was “stuff that couldn’t be removed” under the mural, it’s entirely possible that it expanded enormously with the lightning strike, and that’s what caused the explosive response.

After all, a lightning bolt can quickly and easily blow up a tree, and scatter the remnants of the explosion to the four winds.

Or it could just be something more… well, STRANGE.

There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in my philosophy.

    1. Hack Stone quite frequently reads news articles about people struck by vehicles or lightning having their shoes blown off. Does the force of the impact cause she’s to unlace, or more likely the lightning strike obliterates the shoes. Don’t know how that happens with a vehicle collision, though.
