19th Annual POW Network Gala

POW Network Gala

Mary sends us a link to the news coverage of her POW Network 19th Annual Gala and Banquet from the Tri-Lakes News;

The gala started with the presentation of colors by the United States Marine Corps, Springfield, followed by The Hughes Brothers singing the national anthem, a reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and an invocation.

“During the course of the evening, we hope all of you will make some new friends,” Master of Ceremonies retired Lt. Comdr. Michael Jones said.

A candlelight service was featured at which everyone at their table read out loud a name who was a prisoner of war or missing in action and lit a candle in their honor.

“The lighting of this candle serves to remind us of the ultimate sacrifice our fallen comrades and their families have made to preserve our precious freedom we all cherish today,” Jones said.

This blog would have gone the way of millions of deceased blogs before us without the POW Network and Mary’s hard work.

First to say it here today, Mary and her crew are hardcore and respected throughout our grateful Nation.

Semper Fi to that. Truly unsung hero’s for the cause.

My greatest respect and honor to her.

Your sentiments have been on my mind for a long time. When I stated doing research on Stolen Valor to support the cause, or if anyone does, they will find themselves standing in this woman’s shadow.

It is a humbling experience to realize I could never measure up to her accomplishments. I am so inept as a wordsmith I could never do the praise she deserves justice.

Humbled and honored to stand in her shadow.

Amen, Master Blaster… and in Florida, Dullass is still regretting the day he went after Mary…

    4. And there are a shitpot full of men and women that thank all of you for your hard work.
Thanks for all the good that you do.
And I hope turdbath reads this and has a stroke where he ends up in a nursing home with a bunch of fat smelly women wiping his ass for him.

Did the real deal Airborne Slurper make his annual threat to attend and then never show up?

He was probably SlUrRpInG down a five gallon drum of DRG “cock” tails…

I shared this with a few earlier:

Drunk bar flies do not stray far from their shitty little drinking holes.

He has probably never spent more than $2.00 on a beer (made of swill from the tap tray) in his life. And he most definitely could not afford to enjoy fancy libations like we adults do.

So, a discount Greyhound bus ticket north is off the table.

      He noteth cometh!

  3. Yesterday (which was Veterans Day), I was using my computer to listen to WEBY-AM 1330 in Milton, Florida as they broadcast clips of AFVN programming and interviews with AFVN personnel.

I was surprised to learn that the AFVN staff at Hue were taken Prisoner-of-War and spent over five (05) years in captivity.

Further (but unrelated) I was surprised to learn that the 158th Assault Helicopter Company of the 101st Airborne used AFVN broadcasts as their PRIMARY Automatic Direction Finder when in flight.
