Skyjumper brings us this hilarious article, from The Sun, regarding breaking the ice. No, not the ice breaking events where you get to converse with others. This one involves a practice related to New Year’s/Epiphany celebration.
It’s similar in concept to the “Polar Plunge” in the U.S., where people jump into ice cold waters. The video shows someone using methods inconsistent with how the actual celebration is done. She actually tries to jump though and break the ice… Perhaps to outshine those who do it the traditional way.
It doesn’t work out as planned. In fact, you’d have to watch a cartoon to see something similar. From The Sun website:
The brave swimmer was filmed dive-bombing into the lake in her underwear and landing on the rock-hard ice, leaving her with a broken ankle and a bruised ego.

So the wussyfication of males isn’t limited to America. The “man” just laughs at her (which is an acceptable response to a stupid stunt) but doesn’t even help her. Lets her hop around on a broken ankle.
Suddenly a white knight appears. You need to fight that ice to the death for degrading her honor.
Three thoughts come to mind.
1) Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
2) Even American blondes are not this dumb, I hope.
3) We found Lars Taylor a girlfriend.
She’s about as truly bright as the one who wasted time and money getting a Plied-higher-and-Deeper Degree in Chinese Politics.
There’s no way she broke her ankle. She didn’t so much as even limb a little as she walked back to the dock.
You can see the discoloration on the right foot/ankle area when she hobbled back and tried to get back on the dock.
Lucky she didn’t break through then become trapped under the ice and drown.
Very true, IMHO the thickness of the ice cheated Darwin.
Yeah I’m not sure if there are repeat participants if this is successful because jumping into frozen lakes is a sure way to die.

Every winter, it seems some idiot in the New England region decides to go skimming on their snowmobiles across a semi-frozen lake or pond, and either comes off the throttle or it floods out, with predictable results.
Alcohol may have been a factor.
