Texas Longhorn

A longhorn seems to pose for a picture at sunset in Gainesville, Texas. Longhorns are descendants of the first cattle brought to the “New World” by Spanish colonists.

Congrats Chip! I was tied up today, so I couldn’t abuse my F-5 key like normal! I wish all of my friends at TAH a happy weekend! I’m going to the gun show tomorrow and buy something nice! Take care all.

      Yes, he’s achieved room temperature.

Yet in progress. Final paperwork not signed off on.

Kinda stalled out during the prostate exam portion due to examinee enjoying it too much.

Not fair for us guys on dial-up.
14.4k just cannot keep up with the fibre laser bandwith stuff. I’m going have to upgrade to a 56k modem. You have been warned.

      1. AW1Ed

Dial up? Dude, the 1990s called and want their modem back.

        1. RM3(SS)

Yep, I remember being on a dial up, logged on AOL by the hour. We thought we was da shitz.

I remember dialing in on a 550 baud modem using a VT101 to get on the internet.

Life was good then. And MUDs were fun.

        1. The Stranger

MUDs? My college roommate ran one. He definitely kept it going into the mid-2000’s. Good times, good times.

        2. NHSparky

Friend of mine from HS had a Trash-80 with a floppy drive and 300 baud modem around 1981-82.

Anybody ever heard of “Red Dawn +20?” I stumbled across it a few days ago. It’s an alternate history forum from a few years back of people telling their war stories from WWIII as seen in the original (and only) “Red Dawn.”

So is it posing if the war never actually happened?

    1. The Stranger

Kudos to keeping track of the “good ones” too. Far to often it seems that we focus on the dirtbags. It is good to occasionally take some time out to smell the flowers and remember those who came before and those who make us proud to be in this family.

  18. I was in town today, getting some prices on materials for a building that I am putting up and I thought for a moment that I might be hallucinating. I saw a decrepit, dirty, unkempt, drooling, seedy looking guy that looked for all the world like Daniel A. Bernath, disbarred attorney, recent loser in an attempt to set a low altitude flight record. Whiskers, glasses, and he smelled like he might have had a faulty, leaky, ostomy bag. He was a mess, but he was not DAB. While in the store, near where I saw him, I ran into an old friend. He and I went next door for some iced tea and conversation. He remembered me telling of how the lowlife, pUrPlE sUiTeD sKy DiVeR, that never cometh, Dullas Wittgenfeld had told the lie about how I stole money from under my son’s pillow as he lay dying of Lung Cancer. I tol dhim that I pray daily that a Tempest will come up Highway 17-92, out of Seminole County, into Orange City and spread his puke smelling ass all over Volusia County. I also brought the guy up to date on Poser Kyle Barwan, and that he is “just up the road” at the Century Florida, State Correctional Institution.

    TAHellers,

I just sent a letter to Mr. President and implored him to first DEMAND the release and return (under the flag of the United States of America) of the USS PUEBLO before any other more preconditions are set forth to North Korea.

USS PUEBLO was attacked and captured January 23, 1968. One KIA during attack and 82 remaining crewmen were tortured and held prisoner for 11 months.

    More on USS PUEBLO: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Pueblo_%28AGER-2%29

    Please do the same.

Hey ALL!! Best wishes for a good weekend. 🙂 Laughing my ass off over the Top Gun 2 post and responses. Really puts a grin on my mug.

In the meantime Im slogging through a very self-serving, poorly written, “please don’t fire us” Root Cause analysis. UGH.

    Take care.

    1. The Stranger

Fire them all! Just kidding, believe me, I know how tedious those can be. Poorly written makes it downright painful.

  22. From Brevard County, Florida. Yes…FLORIDA.

Volunteers give makeover to Titusville’s Brevard County Veterans Cemetery

Dozens of volunteers participated Wednesday in the latest phase of the extreme makeover for the Brevard County Veterans Cemetery in Titusville.

New benches, flagpoles, pavers, fence posts and trees were installed during the daylong volunteer effort at the 39-year-old cemetery at 1143 Day St., where 126 veterans are buried.

Sam DiBlasio, a Navy veteran and one of the founders of the Friends of the Cemetery group, helped coordinate the effort.

“What we’re doing is restoring this cemetery back to a beautiful cemetery,” DiBlasio said. “We’re putting a walkway in. We’re cleaning all the graves. We’re going to put some rocks around the cremated graves on the ground here. We planted four trees.”

260a (a) of the Universal Time Act (Title 15, Chapter 6, Subchapter IX), which defines the period Daylight Saving Time is observed, is changed to the following:

          (1) any State that lies entirely within one time zone may by law exempt itself from the provisions of this subsection providing for the advancement of time, but only if that law provides that the entire State (including all political subdivisions thereof) shall observe the standard time otherwise applicable during that period, and

          (2) any State with parts thereof in more than one time zone may by law exempt either the entire State as provided in (1) or may exempt the entire area of the State lying within any time zone.

            1. 11B-Mailclerk

Florida just legislated to be on DST permanently, thus always +4 zone

Oddly, that means their polls may close before the rest of the east coast if no one else adjusts. DST ends 4 November and election day should be the 6th.

That makes campaigning in Florida lots more interesting, eh?

John Giduck – the turd with a face!

  30. Holden Magroin

Adam Appel of Anchorage, Alaska and Pahoa, Hilo, Hawaii is the anti-hero and patron saint of fraudsters, tricksters, con men and grifters. He claimed to be a SF soldier shot by a sniper in Afghanistan and then, uder uncomfortable questioning, revised his personal narrative to be a 18X SF candidate that flunked the course and turned into an 11B Infantryman. All of these stories are false as he’s a a skin sack of old halloween candy and snot that has never served. He’s likely been served…bu never actually served.

    https://adamappelemt.wordpress.com/2018/02/04/how-did-the-investigation-into-adam-appels-fraud-begin/

Given that Adam Appel has been investigated by the Alaska Office of Elder Fraud for allegedly ripping off his own mother, the halloween candy was likely stolen as well.

Adam Benjamin (or now “Beowulf” on Facebook) Appel now runs a Street Medic charity based on his EMT experience. The problem is that he isn’t appearing in either the searchable National EMT Registry or the Hawaii State Professional Registry in which state qualified EMTs are licensed.

    https://adamappelemt.wordpress.com/2018/02/15/evidence-shows-adam-appel-does-not-appear-to-be-a-licensed-emt-in-hawaii/

The best cons are the ones in which the victims still claimed to not have been conned even after being presented the facts. At least Adam Appel can take pride in his little penis. It won’t get in the way in prison when law enforcement finally catches up with this lying, valor stealing prick.

Manning? Don’t remember it posting here.

      2. Ex-PH2

Did you mean Dave Hardin? He never answers messages any more. Must be tied up with something.

        1. Claw

Yep, that’s exactly who I mean.

There has been two brand new and one sentenced phony Beirut Marines exposed here over the past week and not even a peep out of him.

          I blame the Soviet.

    3. sj

Agree. Miss the JAG guy too. He often had good insights.

  32. 2/17 Air Cav

There were 343 homicides in Baltimore last year. Of those, 295 were killed by handgun, and 42 were killed other than by a firearm. That’s 337 of 343, leaving six killed by a rifle or shotgun. So how many of Baltimore’s record-setting murder year (per capita, not raw numbers) were committed by someone using an AR-15? I can’t say b/c the stats combine rifles and shotguns but don’t tell us the type of rifle. Most likely, given the multitude of rifles available, the answer is none. So, Baltimore is funding 60 bus loads of students to travel to DC to protest the deadly assault weapons ‘epidemic.’ Insanity.

  33. Claw

Input needed for what to call the Name Scrabble KAL-55B:

    a. Whiz Wheel

    b. KAK Wheel

    c. Makes no difference to me.

    1. Ex-PH2

I vote for b. because you already use it.

It’s like eggs, bacon and toast – it’s familiar, comfortable and everyone knows what you mean.

      1. rgr1480

I agree with the pretty lady!

    2. rgr769

I am going with Whiz Wheel cuz that is what my first company RTO in the Viet of the Nam called it. By the way, he was a guy from New Yawk named Sabatella. He taught me everything I forgot about how to operate that little contraption.

    3. Claw

Hmmm, two to one so far.

      Need more input before deciding.

C’mon, Wire Dogs and Commo Pukes. Help me out.

      1. OWB

I’m neither a Wire Dog nor a Commo Puke, so I’ll go with “c.”

And, Claw, since you are the one playing with it I really think you should call it Sophia, or maybe Raquel.

  36. Hack Stone

The Vice President of the proud but humble woman owned business that Hack works for will be turning 62 next Sunday, and Hack is at a loss as to (see what I did there) would be an appropriate gift. Hack was going to purchase a subscription to Reputation Defender, but when he told the sales rep the name of the individual, they hung up. So, any suggestions? We can take a mailbox door off of the table, since corporate headquarters no longer resides on Wilson Lane, and the new owner was able to purchase an intact mailbox with the money that was saved on purchasing the domicile.

    1. OWB

MD 20-20 would be appropriate, but how much should you give him? A single bottle would probably just make him mad.

      1. Hack Stone

Hack’s wife Rosetta Stone said to give give him something he doesn’t already have. It’s kind of hard to give an intangible gift such as dignity or sense of accomplishment, so Hack has it down to one of two items that I know he does not have. It will be either a pot so that he has one to piss in, or two nickels so that he can in them together.

    2. Claw

A years subscription to Sugarless Bag O’ Dicks.
