Marines leave Syria after their mission is accomplished

Stars & Stripes reports that more than 400 Marines are on their way home from Syria after their mission was accomplished. The 1st Battalion, 10th Marines were providing artillery support for coalition forces in the battle for Raqqa, the former capitol if the Islamic State;

The city fell to a mix of Kurdish, Arab and other local forces on Oct. 20 after a 4-month assault that was backed by U.S. and international coalition airpower and artillery.

The unit announced the draw down in a statement Thursday: “With the city liberated and ISIS on the run, the unit has been ordered home. Its replacements have been called off.”

It would have been difficult to foresee troops movements in this direction a year ago. Thanks for your faithful service, Marines. We’ve been waiting for good news like this for several years.

To paraphrase Ben Franklin, the Marines leave them with freedom from terrorists, if they can keep it.

Good job, Marines. You’ve done your job well and bear no culpability if the Syrians cannot self-civilize.

Well done Marines, and welcome home! Semper Fi!

Somewhere there’s a private digging through boxes looking for that “Mission Accomplished” banner.

OOOORAH, Marines! Bravo Zulu on a job well done – introducing the ass clowns of ISIS to steel rain. Now it’s up to the locals to defend what they have, they’d better want to keep this.

Speaking of steel rain, I hope it really, REALLY hurt … nothing less will do for the heroes of ISIS.

“They better want to keep this”…

That is the biggest if in the middle east for me…most of these simple, ignorant fucks haven’t a clue about being a free people. For a thousand years they’ve learned to be subservient lackeys to tribal elders or village leaders.

You can’t teach a cat to be a dog and you can’t teach a peasant to love freedom when they prefer servitude.

Obama kept losing to the islam JV team for over 6 years.

Trump crushed them in less than on year.

Barely a peep in the fake legacy news media

Huh, I can’t seem to find my “surprised” face anywhere around here.

Gee whiz, what a surprise. See what happens when we have an administration that genuinely cares and doesn’t hamstring Military forces with asinine ROE’s!

        Come now, be reasonable.

In a war zone, if they are holding a weapon they could just be an armed citizen. If they point it at you, they could be saying “Good morning, gents!” If they fire it towards you, they could just be trying to get your attention. If they actually hit you, they should have a chance to say “My bad” before we return fire.

        This is all common sense.

Amazing what happens when we have a POTUS who wants to WIN.

Ah, my good old friends at 1/10! I was a 2/10 guy. We had been the ready battalion to go to Iraq in late 2003 if the balloon went up. To get ready we worked damn near night and day to get our guns and trucks in an up status – and succeeded. Just before New Years’ libo, we gave that responsibility to 1/10. New Years’ Day I was told 1/10 was being sent to Iraq – and with all of our rolling stock since theirs was garbage, maintenance wise. We were super pissed. So here we are again with those damn glory hogs getting to do all of the combat lanyard pulling. >sigh!!<

But seriously, great job guys! You are showing the nay-sayers that there is still a need for artillery in today's day and age.

We will always need the King of Battle.
