Georgia can’t be bought, a sweet, sweet victory

The Democrats pulled out all the stops and threw in everything including the kitchen sink. I’ll wager those clichés will be repeated incessantly all across America tomorrow to describe the huge effort the Democrats made to win the most expensive congressional district election in history. And they lost. How sweet it is that citizens of Georgia refused to sell their birthright, their vote for their congressional representative, to a bunch of liberal, airhead, Hollywood fat cats who, like the Democrat National Committee, believe everything’s for sale at the right price.

Well, in the case of Georgia Congressional District Six where the Dems ran a sophisticated, metrosexual, political operative, John Ossoff, who didn’t even live in his district and refused to move back to it so that he could vote in the election where he was the candidate, (How truly elitist Democrat is that?) it didn’t work “I deign to represent you in Congress but that doesn’t mean I must live among you.” His opponent was a former Georgia Secretary of State, Karen Handel, a down to earth, solid campaigner who didn’t flinch in the face of all the largess flowing in to her opponent from those super-rich elites out on the Left Coast. The reported numbers vary but most reports say that Ossoff received close to 70% of his donations from a single state: California.

Georgia voters told ‘em where to put it…and it’s not in Congress.

Author’s note: Though I do not live in Georgia, I contributed to Handel’s campaign and wrote a piece here at American Thinker urging readers to do the same. Those who did can bask in the sweet satisfaction that we ordinary folks can stand up to the billionaire bullies on the left who believe that all of America is for sale. MAGA!

What I’m afraid of is that the DNC Diktat, along with the MSM, will figure out what they are doing wrong.

    1. Sonny’s Mom

Or maybe not… aren’t these the same people who keep whining that “socialism has never really been tried”?

    2. desert

They are breathing and opening their mouthes that is whats wrong!

  2. The Other Whitey

Carpetbaggers go home, eh? I’ll bet 95% or more of those California donations can be traced to three specific counties.

  3. FatCircles0311

Lars and Joe are having a terrible year!

    1. A Proud Infidel®™

THAT comment makes me gloat to no end!!!

  4. UpNorth

Now the left is blaming rain for Ossoff’s loss. That’s right, the rain is a friend of Republicans.

    1. Graybeard

      Snowflakes melt in the rain.

(Sounds like the start of a good Country song.)

      1. Poetrooper

And liberal bullshit evaporates in the light of truth.

Sounds like the start of an anthem…

        1. John Scanlon

Seems to the computers ultra rich donating to these non reality candidates. A lot of those Silicon valley engineers are in their own “virtual Reality”.

I have many old family friends in Central California that are talking about how this exact subject, and have watched it go from hard working engineers in their garages, to a twisted, non reality out look on America. Hopefully they with the cash wake up soon.

      2. The Other Whitey

“Sounds like the start of a good Country song.”

Old-school, George Jones, I’d say! Not exactly Johnny Cash’s style, but I could see the Possum doing that one. Likely along the lines of “He Stopped Loving Her Today.”

        1. Graybeard

I dunno, I could see Johnny doing that in his rockabilly style. The Possum could make you feel sad for the snowflakes, though.

Hank Jr. could make it rock, too.

        2. Ex-PH2

Okay, okay okay. Per Patsy Cline’s “I Fall To Pieces”, I came up with this on the spur of the moment:

          Snowflakes are melting
They’re melting out in the sun
          They thought that money
          Would mean their candidate won

          They want to you think
          That they’re best of all
          They want you to believe
          You should obey their call
And you waited in the rain
          To vote someone in.
          Well, you voted and now
          Their guy didn’t win.

I can do more, but you get the drift. Keep it simple.

          1. Graybeard

            Good job.
I’m at work right now and cannot develop anything, but that’s a good start.

And Patsy Cline at that. She had such a beautiful voice.

        3. CDR_D

          All good ideas.

My first thought went to that “raindrops” song in the Butch and Sundance movie:

“Snowflakes are meltin’ in the rain..”

      3. Eden

“Snowflakes, meltin’ in the rain. . .” (apologies to Willie Nelson)

    2. Ex-PH2

Really? And I didn’t even do a rain dance yesterday, nor did I sacrifice cheese and wine to Shu, the God of the Atmosphere to get rain going down there in Georgia.

They are the poster children for sore losers, aren’t they?

    3. Fyrfighter

If the rain stopped people from voting, they’re not all that motivated… or maybe it prevented the dems from bussing in people from other states to fraudulently vote…

      1. A Proud Infidel®™

OR it kept the homeless from finding the buses to go fraudulently vote like the Milwaukee D-rat party was caught doing. They were caught busing homeless from precinct to precinct to vote D-rat and rewarded with things like packs of smokes and “40’s”.

Maybe the secret Russian climate control op made it rain on election day. Russian chem-trails, baby. (Someone will be on “Coast to Coast” tonight with the full conspiracy.) Makes sense, since the millennial special snowflakes were likely afraid they would melt if they came out in the rain.

Actually, they’re probably still curled up and crying, while waiting for their DNC masters to spoon feed them their talking points.

Can’t be thinking for themselves, you know. Besides, now the liberals are saying it wasn’t that important a race anyway.

      1. FatCircles0311

True. Before the results its a referendum on Trump, but once they are defeated it really didn’t matter.

        Funny how that works.

        1. Stacy0311

It’s a “moral victory” that he finished within 10 points in a district that Trump won by 1 point. At least that’s what they tell themselves

          1. The Other Whitey

If they weren’t pros at self-deception, they probably wouldn’t be liberals.

          2. Fyrfighter

Hmm… a “moral” victory for a group that has no morals.. interesting..

      2. rgr769

If they comment before they get their DNC official talking points, they won’t qualify for their Soros money.

I live in this district; so, unlike the Democrat candidate, I was able to vote in this special election. Knowing I would be out of town on Jun 21, I took the time to request and cast an absentee ballot.
The story about the weather is complete BS as there were plenty of early voting days available. As usual with Libs, it never the fault of the individual; always the fault of the circumstances.

    1. Sonny’s Mom

Nice Work, GA-6, you done us all proud!

(How long before lefties start blaming the results on “climate change”?)

      1. I hear that Rachel Maddow blamed the weather on Democrat turnout last night. I guess our climate-change denial is finally paying off for us.

        1. The Old Maj

So she is saying that Democrats are fair weather voters? I’m going to go ahead and agree with that.

        2. The Other Whitey

          Wow, she’s going full-retard-5150!

        3. Ex-PH2

One of these days, I will waste 10 minutes of my life (which I will never get back) telling Madcow that spending $60 million on a political campaign is a sure sign of mental illness (especially since Trump didn’t spend nearly that much), and that money could have gone to food pantries, homeless shelters, shelters for women and children, and maybe even some serious college scholarships for gifted but poor high school students.

The Democrapweasels really know how to waste money, don’t they? They are creating their very own quicksand pond.

Over a 2 month span 7,000 Californians gave to Osseff’s campaign vs 800 Georgians. Good old fashioned vote buying didn’t work.

Despite over $23 million spent by Osseff and a total of $60,000,000 the Dems still put up a goose egg. This makes them losers in MT, KS, GA and SC. They don’t get it. The vitriol they have surrounded the Trump Presidency has shielded them from what drove him into office. The people of this country have had it with politics as usual. The lying politicians that promise everything and promptly “go DC” will not get a pass anymore. People are tired of the money, lies and professionals that take them for granted. If the Dems don’t wake up they are going down in flames in 2018 and 2020.

Dems have convinced themselves in their bubble that driving hard to the left is the way to go. I mean, everyone they speak to says so. I have been having a conversation with a girl on another website who is convinced that the Dems lost 2016 because they were not far enough left. She thought their only chance was to nominate Pocahontas Warren to run for President. Seriously? That is what the Dem party has come to and why it is sliding into obscurity. The shriller and angrier it becomes, the more it loses votes driving even farther left to keep what it has and so on. Good luck with that. It does not represent the majority of the country and never will.

    1. A Proud Infidel®™

“Dems have convinced themselves in their bubble that driving hard to the left is the way to go.”

I’m ALL for letting them do just that and I hope they DON’T wake up. Let them go all the way UC Berzerkely hard left and we get rid of the lifer Rinos like McCain and McConnell as well.

  13. Ex-PH2

$60 million to try to buy and election. That money could have filled food pantries to overflowing.

I saw some Fox article that says CNN’s reporters are being treated for microaggressions. Excuse me – microaggressions? Is that the new word for sore losers?

It’s almost as though they all want to be locked up in padded cells and not have to deal with the real world, the harsh world, the world which demands that they grow up and deal with its harsh realities. Eternal childhood does not exist.

    1. Eden

Microagressions – so tiny no one but a snowflake can detect them.

    2. Ex-PH2

I find it extremely disturbing that expressing real, valid emotions is being viewed as some sort of mental disorder. That is what is implied in the term ‘microaggression’. But it could explain the episodes of violent behavior that we’ve seen.

    3. Wilted Willy

Ex, you are so right on, the people are tired of being lied to and all of these do nothing assholes in office. I pray that Trump will really drain the swamp and get rid of these assholes. The fastest way for them to fix Social Security and Health Care is to put these assholes on the same plans that we have to live with and they would fix this mess tomorrow! They don’t deserve their golden health care and their million dollar retirement plans, fuck them, let them live off Social Security and see how fast they fix it!

      1. Ex-PH2

        Agreed!

      2. A Proud Infidel®™

“$60 million to try to buy and election. That money could have filled food pantries to overflowing.”

GOOD CALL! That and how many hungry children could be fed with the money Bernie Sanders spent on his newest waterfront home? How many kids could go to college with what Al Gore Jr. spends just on utilities for his multiple properties? Libtards ask the same thing when a conservative spends big money!

      1. MSG Eric

Its okay because kids are going to start moving to NY so they can get “free” college and they’ll all magically meet the requirements to get it for free.

        1. A Proud Infidel®™

They might as well move to NY to get it, the illegal aliens have likely swamped CA colleges with that State’s “gimmes”.

The mainstream media and the political left have egg on their face yet again as they trumpeted that this was a referendum of Trump.

I offer up this thought. Follow the money. If the MSM and their networks hadn’t hyped this race would there have been an impetus to spend the large amount of money on ads? Who really profited??? How about the media who sold all the air time.

    1. The Old Maj

It was a referendum on Trump.

I read a CNN article that said that Trump won the district by a single point. She stated that losing by four points was a “mild rebuke” of Trump. I tried but my brain could not make the leap of faith.

I live in the GA-6th as well, and it was a sweet, sweet headline to wake up to this morning. Driving home from work yesterday, I saw a group of 3-4 mid-20-ish Ossoff supporters surrounded by dozens of his yard signs, holding up a banner saying, “Honk for Jon!” People were honking, all right, and giving them plenty of the “You’re #1” Hawaiian Peace Signs, as well as shouting out a bunch of things that the young Ossoff’s seem to find disturbing. One young lass looked like she was about to collapse in tears, but bravely kept on waving her Ossoff. Sign, that is.

It was an inspiring moment, and hopefully an effective lesson in applied politics to those young’ins.

  20. Commissar

GOP kept their very safe 6th district seat.

By only by 5 points, a swing of almost 25 POINTS toward democrats.

Nobody in the GOP actually sees that as a victory and it shows the GOP is on course to be crushed moving forward.

Just in time for the next census and the opportunity for democrats to finally unravel the stacked republican gerrymandering that has been giving republicans disproportionate representation in Congress.

If the GOP was smart and actually cared about this country they would move for an amendment ending gerrymandering and establishing a more representative district allocation after the next census.

Otherwise dems will gerrymander it in their favor and the GOP will be shut out for a decade.

And Americans will continue to have officials with such safe seats that they are effectively unaccountable unless the party turns on them and supports a party challenger.

    1. UpNorth

Ga-6 is not a “very safe 6th district seat” You can push that bullshit all you want, it’s not true.
Price won by a landslide because he had no opponent. The alleged D didn’t campaign, raised no money, and when the media tried to interview him, he was missing.
Keep on keeping on, LARS TAYLOR, the dems are, so far, 0 for 2017. With leaders like Tom Perez and Keith Ellison, and sycophants like you and AntiFa, you may be looking at years in the electoral wilderness. Not that that’s a bad thing.

      1. The Old Maj

“Alleged D” is quite accurate. There is a solid theory that he does not exist. That would mean that after spending $60M they had a 25 point improvement over a fictitious person. That’s results right there.

    2. Ex-PH2

Gerrymandering? Yeah, you know, LARS TAYLOR, you should pay attention to the news occasionally. It is yesterday’s news that the FBI is starting to investigate gerrymandering in all states, to stop vote corruption.

That should have a nasty impact on the voting districts and nose counts for scumbags like Dan Madigan, who redraws district boundaries to suit himself and get the votes he wants.

Try to keep up with the rest of the world, willya, numbnuts?

    3. A Proud Infidel®™

Just wait until the Trump Administration Justice Department starts going after voter fraud and see how rampant it is in blue districts! Let’s not forget how the D-rats suddenly wanted to hush-hush about the Michigan recount as soon as rampant discrepancies were found in Detroit where I’m sure the Hitlery campaign was counting on to take that State. Wanna bet they’ll find tsunamis of voter fraud in places like say, Chicago, LA, NYC, Philly and more that always vote blue?

    4. Poetrooper

Good grief, Lars! You’re delusional enough to qualify for a staff position on the DNC! Send ’em your resume a tell ’em to contact Jonn for hundreds of references. If they turn you down try some of their pollsters who should be greatly impressed with your political myopia and tone deafness, much-prized qualities in that profession.

Might be a future for you there, boy.

      1. MSG Eric

Why do you think he posts here? This site is on his resume.

        1. UpNorth

He’s here because he can’t figure out how to get on sites like DailyKOS or Alternet?
Meanwhile, having been apprised of the actual facts of the Ga-6 special election, LARS TAYLOR has retreated to the basement to watch Richie Madcow and the rest of the idjuts on MSDNC to get new talking points.

    5. Just An Old Dog

Lars said “By only by 5 points, a swing of almost 25 POINTS toward democrats”

Once again you get a star signifying a subsequent award on your medal for ” Stupidity Beyond the call of Ignorance”

If you look at the raw numbers of voters, they was no bump in the numbers of Democrats who voted. What happened was that significantly LESS Republicans turned out. There were about 60,000 fewer Republican Voters who supported Handel. Despite all the money thrown out about 100 fewer Democrats voted than in 2016.

    6. Eden

Oh, lookee there! LARS TAYLOR has finished downloading the DNC approved talking points.

      1. Graybeard

That 512k baud is really high-speed.

    7. 11B-Mailclerk

      “Safe seat”.

Which is why the Democrats poured mega buckets of moolah into the race, contesting a “safe seat”.

It is really dumb when you spin utter sophistry for an audience. But when you convince your self of it…..

Keep pounding! You are one of the best Trumpeters on this web site. At the rate you are gaining there will be a Republican super-majority by 2020. So, do -please- keep carrying on.

    8. Commissioner Wretched

      Dude.

      Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude.

Spin this any way you want, but at the bottom line you will find: YOUR GUY LOST.

Period. End of statement. The Democratic candidate did not win the election. There will still be the same number of GOP representatives in the House when Ms. Handel is sworn in as there were when Dr. Price was in that seat. No change. Nothing new for the “D’s” to celebrate.

Far from being a harbinger of bad times for the GOP, the loss of Mr. Ossoff – and the other Democratic candidates in these special elections – signals a continuance of the grownups being in charge and the special snowflakes being more and more edged away from the centers of power.

      As it should be.

Did it ever occur to any Democratic leader that, as a base message, the people are no longer buying what that party is trying to sell?

  21. Green Thumb

The Republicans tossed in a lot of money as well. And the Democrat did not even live in the damn district.

Glad the GOP retained the seat but the cost was staggering.

I wonder how many people we could feed using that money?

    1. Ex-PH2

      My point, exactly.

      1. MSG Eric

Might be a worthy idea to require equivalent spending on the poor, food kitchens, homeless shelters as they do on an election campaign.

That would be an interesting bill to discuss. They couldn’t just say “any charity” because then the Clintons and their CGI would become even more stupidly rich.

    2. Poetrooper

Thumb, it was the Dems and their media pals who began pushing the meme that this race was a referendum on Trump not the Republicans. Using that idea as a fundraising tool, the Dems went after big bucks and began investing all the out of state contributions in the campaign, so don’t start believing Lar’s phony moral equivalence that both sides are equally at fault.

The Dems created this overheated, over-financed race with all their phony polls and now, with egg all over their faces, they’re trying to deflect blame on everything and everyone but themselves, like the weaselly, worthless sons of bitches they have become in the past decade.

Don’t believe ANYTHING you hear from ANY Democrat or ANY media puke.

      1. Perry Gaskill

Some of the news media seem to get it right in pulling relevant pieces, but draw the wrong conclusion from what the pieces mean.

I read this morning a story in The Atlantic about the Georgia election. In it, the writer described the Georgia 6th District as being a suburban place of shopping malls and gated communities of McMansions. As if such was a lesser alternative to that of a more diversified urban environment. Poor them. There seemed to be a failure to understand the reason that more than 60 percent of people in the U.S. live in the ‘burbs is because they want to.

Why the news media is apparently unable to understand such a large demographic is a mystery. Personally, I’m not ready to chalk up to corruption that which might be more easily explained by cluelessness.

        1. MSG Eric

Because they think that because the MSM pushes their narrative that everyone in America will believe it and that they are right, no matter what anyone else says.

They had an inkling for about 60 seconds after Trump won in November that they thought “hmm, maybe we need to reevaluate?” and then they got busy planning their schedule of 97% negative Trump stories.

Next we’ll likely hear Babbles McButthead tell us how Nanny Lugosi is going to lead the D-rats back into the majority. Remember how the left gloatingly told us that the GOP and Conservativism was dead, we needed to get to the back of the bus… HEY libtards, we had to tolerate eight years of what’s his face so now you buttercups, candyasses, freakazoids and cream puffs need to buckle up for eight years of President Trump!

  23. Mark Lauer

    I’m laughing my Ossoff

    1. MSG Eric

      That’s funny….

    2. Eden

      SNORT!!

  24. MSG Eric

If they had won this seat, it would be the big win that showed how Trump is causing the GOP to self-destruct and it would be the KEY win that causes republicans to lose everything in the coming Fall elections.

But, they lost. Sooooooo, it was the rain, it was still a win, it was a tie, it was still a positive, blah blah blah. And then they were right back to “Trump and Russia……”

    1. A Proud Infidel®™

I’m surprised the D-rats haven’t started blaming Russia for this defeat as well! I read that Ossoff has started bawling about money having too big a role in politics, I couldn’t make shit like that up if I tried, he spent what, about six times what the GOP Victor did? I’m enjoying the schadenfreude thinking about all the D-rat big money libtards wailing about the money spent on that pencil-dicked metrosexual candyassed marshmallow-headed snowflake of a candidate they sponsored!

  25. ChipNASA

I can’t wait until the Dems further implode to the antifacists start attacking their own and AND WE’RE ONLY 153 days in.

Can you imagine what is going to happen to the left if and hopefully when Donald Trump is elected for a second term??

People will start jumping from rooftops.
And our great little Bernie Babe will stroke out on Youtube

  26. Graybeard

Does anyone have hard – or at least semi-firm – numbers on the amount the Democrats spent and the amount the Republicans spent on this race?

I’ve heard that Ossoff spent more than Handel, but do not know if that is true and, if it is, by what ratio.

    1. ChipNASA

NBC says almost 30,000,000 on Ossoff

      http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/out-state-interests-spent-26-2-million-georgia-special-election-n774366

NY Slimes says it was almost $55,000,000

      https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/20/us/politics/georgia-special-election.html

OK a better figure in the last 48 hours….

      http://www.cbsnews.com/news/republican-karen-handel-wins-georgia-special-election/

Democratic spending has outpaced that of Republican spending on the race. Ossoff’s campaign raised $23 million in 2017, and spent nearly $22 million, while Handel’s campaign has raised $4.5 million and spent a little more than $3 million, according to the most recently available campaign finance data compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics. That doesn’t include spending from outside groups.

      1. Graybeard

So Ossoff outspent Handle at an approximate ratio of 22:3 – and lost.

That’s gonna sting for a while.

      2. Ex-PH2

I appreciate Handel’s economy of style.

        1. Graybeard

          A monetary conservative indeed.
