  • More SJW Stupidity

Just when you think the perpetually outraged special snowflake SJW crowd can’t get any more moronic, you see something like this.

Critics Attack Mother’s Day as ‘Offensive’
    Because It’s A ‘Gendered Holiday’

Yeah, you read that correctly. GMAFB.

Dunno if this means we’re in Heinlein’s “Crazy Years” or not. But it just might.

  • And We Thought LA Was “La La Land”

    Headline says it all.

Chicago inmates can now order pizza directly to their cells

I’d say, “YGBSM” – but I long ago ceased to be amazed by idiotic policies adopted by “Progressive” cities and states.

  • And In the “WTF?!!” Department . . . .

Yeah, the linked article’s headline – repeated in the link below – is accurate.

    Seventh grader suspended for ‘liking’
a photo of a gun on Instagram

Sheesh. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, the idiots come up with something even more idiotic and prove you wrong.

Yes, I understand the school’s concern about school violence, but c’mon. Here, the district suspended a kid for “liking” a non-explicit picture – a picture of an airsoft pistol with the one-word caption “Ready” – he saw posted on Instagram while web surfing from home at 7PM. And they did it without giving the kid a chance to explain himself.

Yeah, like the kid’s parents I kinda got a problem with that.

Really? Do they also monitor their students to see if they visit pr0n sites late at night on the Internet while at home? Or what books they check out from the city library on weekends – or download from Amazon?

I think Hank Hill described the behavior by the school administration here quite well. Except here, laughter isn’t IMO in any way appropriate.

Big Brother approves. Those who value common sense and freedom . . . perhaps not so much.

If school administrators in that school district have nothing better to do than monitor their students’ off-hours off-campus Internet usage, well, to me that suggests a very different problem. Specifically: it suggests that perhaps that district has far too many school administrators. And the fact that they’d suspend a student for liking a picture of any gun on Instagram – without even asking the kid for an explanation, and with no other indication of a problem – shows an utter lack of common sense (though that’s regrettably often the case in education these days).

Maybe instead of playing “after hours Internet monitor”, the district should instead let a few administrators go. They could then hire a few more teachers with the money saved.

(Author’s Note:  edited to reflect the fact that the “gun” in question was an airsoft pistol vice paintball.)

  • Bill Nye . . . the Eugenics Guy?

Seems that Bill Nye, the anti-freedom propagandist who originally made his name popularizing science, is propagandizing on a wider range of subjects these days.  And he’s catching some well-deserved heat for his most recent public position as a result.

Nye’s already shown his true colors by coming out in favor of jailing “climate deniers” – a rather odd and, frankly, hypocritical position for someone who makes his living courtesy of the First Amendment IMO.  His newest position only further confirms his anti-freedom/pro-authoritarian bias.

In a panel discussion on his new Netflix show, Nye recently seemed to come out quite clearly in favor of penalizing people who choose to have “extra” children.

Yeah, you read that correctly.  Nye apparently is in favor of government-imposed limits on family size.

Perhaps someone should remind the dipstick that this isn’t a new idea.  Communist China already tried it.

It was called their “one-child policy”.   It was virtually universally considered an egregious and unconscionable violation of human rights.  China formally ended the policy in 2015.

Any government policy that results in compulsory family planning and coerced sterilizations – as did China’s implementation of its “one-child policy” – is simply not something I find acceptable.  As far as I’m concerned, Bill Nye can go straight to hell.

And no, Nye:  history quite clearly shows it won’t be “done right this time around”.  Dictatorship never is.

Freedom may be messy and difficult.  But life as a free citizen is infinitely preferable to life as a serf – who is told by their lord and master what he or she can and cannot do and say.

  • Gee . . . Thanks, SCoaMF

Iran recently tested a new and highly sophisticated air defense system.  They obtained the system from Russia.

The system is based on Russia’s S-300 missile.  The NATO designation for the original system is the SA-10; since the original version was first deployed in the late 1970s, Iran doubtless received a more modern variant.  The first linked article is unclear regarding precisely which S-300 variant Iran received.

The S-300/SA-10 system and its descendants are quite capable.  They are regarded as some of the best currently-deployed air defense missile systems in the world.

So, why do I say – completely sarcastically, of course – “Gee . . . thanks, SCoaMF” in the title above?  Read on.

It seems that Iran and Russia signed the contract for Iran to purchase the system back in 2007; the system was to cost Iran $800 million.  However, international sanctions associated with Iran’s nuclear program prevented delivery.

The US-Iran nuclear      giveaway      “deal” removed those sanctions. That in turn allowed Russia to deliver the system to Iran last year.

And anyone with the common sense to pour p!ss out of a boot knew a priori exactly that would happen.

In other words:  the previous       gang of utterly naïve imbeciles screwing things up “by the numbrs” in  DC        Administration in effect approved delivery of that system to Iran.  So in the event of hostilities with Iran US military aviators will now have to face one of the most sophisticated SAM threats in the world – a threat that wasn’t present prior to the US-Iran nuclear      giveaway       “deal”.

Oh, and that $40 billion in Iranian assets we released in the Iran nuclear     giveaway      “deal”?  That was 50 times more than the $800 million cost of Iran’s new S-300 system.  So not only did the previous       DC gang of feckless fools        Administration green light installation of Iran’s new SAM system, they also reimbursed Iran for buying the damn thing – 50 times over.

Hell, the $1.7 billion cash ransom the US paid Iran to release 4 US citizens a bit more than a year ago alone paid for Iran’s new system – more than twice!

I know I’m repeating myself but I’ll say it again anyway:  “Gee . . . thanks, SCoaMF.”

Durham VA Medical Center; No Pillow For You!

Photos of elderly veterans in extreme pain waiting for treatment at a VA hospital in Durham, North Carolina, are going viral.

Retired Marine Stephen McMenamin and his wife, Hannah, were waiting at the Durham VA Medical Center when they noticed two veterans who were struggling in the waiting room.

McMenamin told WSB-TV that his wife found the scene “upsetting,” so she took pictures and posted them to Facebook.

The Facebook post has been shared more than 118,000 times, and McMenamin said other veterans who have had bad experiences at VA hospitals across the U.S. have reached out to them.

DeAnne Seekins, Medical Center Director at the VA facility, released the following statement:

We take seriously any allegation of poor service. I was made aware of a regrettable incident that occurred in our Emergency Department over the weekend and am thankful someone cared enough to share the incident with us. Our mission is to provide the highest level of health care to Veterans, so upon learning of the incident, I took swift action. The employee was immediately removed from patient care pending the results of an internal review.

It is an honor to serve America’s heroes and actions that do not align with our core values will not be tolerated. We pride ourselves on providing the highest quality care to the Veterans we serve and being responsive to our patient’s needs. Veterans deserve nothing less.

Heartbreaking Photos of Vets Being Neglected at VA Spark Outrage

He said a veteran on the ground was using his bag of medication for a pillow after being denied an available reclining chair.

“The nurse started yelling at him, telling him he can’t do that. He’s like, ‘I can’t get up and I won’t get up. I will be here until you can see me. Can I please have a blanket?’” McMenamin said.

The hospital’s chief executive nurse responded and told McMenamin that the matter is being investigated.

Rep. Robert Pittenger said this just reaffirms his push to hold VA employees more accountable.

“It’s absolutely tragic,” he said. “It’s frankly reflective of what we’ve seen from the VA, and that’s why I sponsored last year and this year, the VA Accountability Act.”

Commander of the North Carolina VFW said things in the state have improved drastically, but he said if an investigation confirms what is depicted in these photos, then the staff responsible should be fired.

“There’s no question about it, I mean, there’s no acceptable reason why this should have happened,” Commander Doug Blevins said.

The nurse responsible will more than likely be sent to the corner for making an oopsie and Deanne Seekins will still collect her VA Executive Bonus Pay. Nothing to see here, move along and die, thanks for your service. David Shulkin, Secretary of Veterans Affairs recently said “I am empowering our leaders to start taking swift and immediate actions when the evidence warrants a removal. VA recently fired the San Juan Medical Center Director after an investigation revealed unethical behavior that ran contrary to our VA values.” Next stop should be the Durham VA Medical Center.

  • When You Have Naïve and Incompetent Leadership . . .

. . . you often get crap like this.

Obama revamp of federal bureaucracy created ‘widespread’
    security policies violations, watchdog says

The Federal agency involved? GSA.  The “watchdog”?  The GSA IG.

And to add insult to injury: the worst abuses occurred well after the previous      DC clown krewe      Administration admitted it had “screwed the pooch” on IT security and allowed Chinese hackers to obtain 4.2 individuals’ PII as part of the OPM security breach. (The actual number of individuals whose PII was stolen by hackers linked to China was later determined to have been five times that – roughly 21.5 million.)

The linked article is a bit longish, but IMO reading it is worth the time.  It should p!ss you off.

It’s nice to finally have responsible adults in charge. At least maybe we won’t see this kind of disregard for security policy and procedures again any time soon.

  • But . . . But . . . I Thought It Was “57 States”!

Apparently the previous       SCoaMF in DC       Occupant, 1600 Penn Ave, Wash DC isn’t the only one who’s a bit unclear on the correct number of US states.

The former Occupant, 1600 Penn Ave, Wash DC once famously referred to the US as having “57 states”.  Well, it seems that wasn’t correct.  Because according to the EU, there are a total of 51 US states – not 57.

At least, 51 was the number of stars that were shown on the flag projected as a background for US Vice-President Michael Pence when he spoke to the EU Parliament in Brussels the other day.  EU authorities did, however, correctly depict the flag as having 13 stripes.

It’s good to see that the USA has no monopoly on ignorant leftist tools.
