  • Sorry, Ward, I couldn’t do it

    While I was at the protest today, I got a chance to talk to Ward Reilly and Bill Perry. Bill told me that if there weren’t so many witnesses around, he’d have punched me. I laughed. Then he complained that I posted the video of him admitting that his testimony at Winter Soldier I was BS. You’re right, Bill, you can’t hear much on that video, but you and I know what you said.

    Reilly complained that I shouldn’t talk about him like I do. If you missed the post it’s here. Then I followed up with this one.

    Reilly complained that he never said he was a Ranger, that his unit called themselves the 1/16th Infantry (Rangers). And that he’d turned me into the 1st Infantry Division Association and that “they hate you, too.” I said it was “Iron Rangers” and that I was a member of the 1st Infantry Division Association and no one had ever mentioned it to me. I said I was a member because I went to actual combat with the Big Red One.

    At that moment I figured it was stupid to argue over it and I told myself that I’d lay off Ward.

    But, then he walked away and I noticed this on his hat;

    White House Protest 10-5-2009 (73)a

    That’s a Ranger Tab above the 1st Infantry Division patch. If you go to the first link, you’ll notice that Reilly didn’t go to Ranger School and he’s not authorized to wear a Ranger tab. I don’t know why he’d have that tab on his hat if he’s not trying to convince people he’s a school-trained Ranger. So, sorry, Ward, no breaks here – all bets are off.

  • Code Pink/VFP/WCW at the White House (Updated w/video)

    Not feeling the hope and change, a coalition of anti war groups marched on the White House. I’ve got some pictures and videos to put up for now – but I’ll be adding more tonight.

    There was no IVAW presence today, so the Geezers For Sitting On Our Hands was at the front of the march. For some reason, anti-war protesters think they need veterans in the front to give them legitimacy.

    That’s retired Colonel Ann Wright carrying a mock-up coffin with Jim Goodnow behind her. Goodnow drove the Impeach Bush bus which caught fire in a New Jersey rest stop and Goodnow claimed he was firebombed by right-wing extremists;

    Listen to the speaker in the first portion of this video as she equates the war in Afghanistan to Southeast DC. The moonbattery runs deeply in this one;

    Cindy Sheehan was there – but I didn’t need to say that because you know there were cameras.

    Code Pink.VFP Protest 063

    A couple of Guantanamo prisoners chained themselves to the fence – I volunteered to help the cops beat them, but they only chuckled and told me they could handle it.

    Code Pink.VFP Protest 069

    They waterboarded one old hippie and when I shouted for them to behead him instead of bathing him, they called me a “Nazi”.

    I guess you could take this sign a hundred ways, but anyway you parse it, it’s a slap against the troops;

    White House Protest 10-5-2009 (77)

    It’s not a protest against Bush anymore.

    Probably because they were getting more interviews than the hippies;

    If you need more pictures, I have about a hundred at My Flickr Photostream. I kept the photos of the comely news ladies over there.

    I talked with Dana Milbank from the Washington Post and gave him my (unsolicited) impression. He told me that he’s writing this like it’s the “canary in the mine”. I told him that it’s more like a desperate play for donations. All of the “big guns” were there; Cindy Sheehan, Media Benjamin, Jody Evans, Michael MacPhearson (VFP’s ED) and some minor guns like John Grant (VFP in Philly and Hugo Chavez fan). They were there because they’re hurting for money what with the Democrats at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue and MoveOn sucking up the Left’s money.

    By the way, no MoveOn today, either.

    I’m really surprised that IVAW wasn’t there. I wonder if it’s a policy shift or a lack of participation. Since they recently officially condemned the Afghanistan War, it seemed the perfect venue.

    UPDATED AGAIN: Apparently, some of the protesters got arrested after I left for not keeping the sidewalk clear. I saw a couple of them giving crap to the Park Police and told them to quit being dicks and let the cops do their job. Of course, i got called a “Nazi” for that, too. So these bozos deserved to be arrested.

  • Think the media will report this? (Video added)

    Here’s one of the first signs I encountered this morning

    larouche-008

    Here’s the video;

    Bill Perry and I aren’t friends any more. He introduced to his crowd of Vets For Peace as “That lying SOB from This Ain’t Hell”. Ward Reilly was polite, though, so was Michael MacPhearson. Jim Goodnow told me to keep up the good work. I guess he’s not a reader.

    Free Republic is here;

    larouche-010

    They stalwartly followed the protest and got plenty of interviews through out the day’s fun.

  • Hot Chicks with Douchebags; TAH Edition

    You’ve probably heard of the Hot Chicks with Douchebags blog. Well this is the This Ain’t Hell version.

    This was actually TSO’s idea, but the line and the picture are just too good to pass up, so here it is below the fold.

  • Peace movement plans protest against Obama

    A gaggle of peace movement organizations wrote an open letter to the President urging that he adopt their platform for peace. However, they forget the time line of some important events;

    We feel you are stuck in the same trap, which ensnared President Lyndon Johnson. His decision to continue that awful war in Vietnam brought down his presidency. He failed to listen to the peace movement, and history has not been kind to him.

    Um, Lyndon Johnson didn’t “continue” the war in Vietnam, he escalated the operations in Vietnam to an actual combat role. US combat forces were introduced to Vietnam at Da Nang March 8, 1965 – at the beginning of the Johnson Administration.

    The letter continues;

    Today’s peace movement is baffled by your persistence to wage war on the people of Afghanistan. Not only is your policy flawed, but it is doomed to failure. Afghanistan surely does not need more killing and destruction. It needs financial assistance and the willingness of the United States to build roads, schools and clinics. The people, especially the women and children, need food, medicine, shelter and an end to the fighting. Moreover, the U.S. military is unsuited to do humanitarian work in Afghanistan.

    What have the US forces been doing in Afghanistan? Oh, that’s right, they’ve been “air raiding villages”, I forgot. And were they “unsuited to do humanitarian work in” Bosnia and Kosovo, too?

    We protested the belligerency of the Bush administration, and now we are demonstrating against your misguided efforts in Afghanistan. We are mystified that in the midst of a horrible economic crisis, you are wasting precious tax dollars and other resources in a futile war without end. To call this a war of necessity is an attempt to rewrite history.

    I’ll bet you clowns are mystified about a lot of things, mostly simple tasks like tying your shoes and changing your underwear. To not refer to this war as a war of necessity is to ignore history.

    But on the upside, this coalition of misinformed idiots are planning to protest against the Obama White House on Monday, October 5th.

    I wonder if Jimmy Carter will call them racists.

  • Evil doin’s at Fort Hood

    Apparently Fort Hood has become the focus of the anti-war and “soldier resistance” movement. You’ll remember that we wrote about Victor Agosto who was shipped off to the Bell County jail in texas after he refused to deploy with his unit. When he finished his 30 day sentence, he was celebrated as a returning hero by about 50 Leftist clowns according to an article in Socialist Worker;

    On an unusually pleasant 95-degree afternoon at Under the Hood Café, the G.I. café just outside Fort Hood, there was a celebration for a hero, a barbecue and fundraiser, and a rally to continue the fight for the other men, women and families victimized by the war machine and inspired by Victor’s courage.

    Sweet, huh? I wonder how many of Agosto’s fellow soldiers get the same treatment when they return from their deployment – will Victor greet them with the amenities that he got upon his “return”?.

  • Josh Simpson: Live up to the creed, socialismo o muerte!

    The folks at 9/11 Families for America sent a link to an interview of Benji Lewis and Josh Simpson (who I wrote about the other day) conducted by Eva Golinger, a Venezuelan-American lawyer who was nicknamed the “Sweetheart of the Revolution” by Hugo Chavez for her blind and undying support for the Chavezistas. Of course, she supports Chavez’ revolution from the comfort and splendor of her Manhattan apartment and law offices.

    Anyway, Golinger, who also writes for the uber-Left, pro-Chavez website Venezuelanalysis, doesn’t bother to check the background of her interviewees. This is from the bio at the end of the interview;

    Josh Simpson, 27 years old, was a Sargeant [sic] in the US Army Counterintelligence Division. He was in charge of interrogations and source operations in Mosul, Iraq from 2004-2005. His actions resulted indirectly in the deaths of hundreds of Iraquis [sic].

  • For God, Country, Sugar and Bananas!

    I’m constantly amazed at what passes for rational discourse on the internet these days. Never so much as when I visit the websites of the pseudo-intellectual veterans of the Left. The worst, of course, is that Jim Staro guy who we’ve featured before. His incoherence is a monument to his ignorance. But running a close second, is Gordon Duff of a completely directionless blog named “Veterans Today”. His only goal seems to be a frantic and constant whining about the Veterans Affairs Department for no good reason other than it’s not Heaven on Earth.

    Today, he zeroes in like grapeshot on US foreign policy by proclaiming “War is Unpatriotic“. He begins by declaring acts unpatriotic before we actually became a country.

    We started stealing in the 1600s, long before we were a country. Indians fed us, taught us and we sent troops into their villages and murdered them.

    I’m pretty sure that before you can commit an unpatriotic act, you have to have a “patria“, a country – it’s kinda part of the word isn’t it? But, hey, what do I know? And what troops did “we” send into Indian villages?

    Duff goes on to explain that those stupid founders tossed aside that great and wonderful Articles of Confederation document in favor of that corrupt and unworkable Constitution “to make sure “regular folks” would stay broke and hungry and end up fighting war after war started by speculators and profiteers.”. The guy is brilliant. But his true brilliance comes through in the next paragraph;

    Long before we went to war for oil, we invaded countries for sugar and bananas.

    Yeah, mostly because our Navy loved jumping into their rickety, leaky, wooden boats which required constant maintenance every minute to stay afloat, so they could travel for weeks to a mosquito-infested coast, fight disease and blood thirsty savages in hand-to-hand combat risking death at every breath so they could bring back some bananas and sugar for their cornflakes.

    Dipshit.

    His whole point is supposed to be that we’re wasting lives over a shit hole like Afghanistan. But mainly because we all love war and our soldiers are too stupid to refuse to fight them for us.

    Nobody can explain it. Nobody can justify it. Nobody even wants it but we keep on and on as though some invisible force drove us insane. Our actions are nothing but insane. We all agree on this and are powerless to stop ourselves. If our nation was a person, we would have to be committed to an asylum for the criminally insane.

    His aforementioned tenuous grasp of history (and reality, apparently) explains his self-induced ignorance.

    Our new friends at The Burn Pit take on Duff in another bit of ignorance theater in which Duff accuses the VSOs of “Sleeping With the Enemy”. Personally, I think Duff has been sleeping with the gas on.
