  • CIA was looking for Detroit bomber

    The story is Drew M’s at Ace of Spades. Apparently the CIA was looking for a guy with the undecipherable code name “The Nigerian” who was training in Yemen. Of course, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s father telling the State Department that his “Nigerian” (whatever that means) son was hanging out in Yemen with undesirable elements wasn’t enough of a clue.

    It seems to remind me of something;

  • CAIR speaks

    Old Trooper sends along this link in which the Aero-News Network forwards Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) concerns about “profiling” in the wake of the latest assault on Americans’ freedoms caused by the government’s unwillingness to profile;

    “While everyone supports robust airline security measures, racial and religious profiling are in fact counterproductive and can lead to a climate of insecurity and fear,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. CAIR touts itself as America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization and espouses a mission ‘to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.’

    I suggest the government refrain from profiling Muslims just because they’re Muslims as soon as Muslims quit blowing up Americans just because we’re Americans and/or infidels. When I read that CAIR has condemned the actions of particular terrorist groups, maybe I’ll consider their complaints. As far as I know, CAIR can’t even bring itself to admit that Hamas conducts terrorist operations.

    Me? When I ride the subway, I inventory the items with which every Muslim gets on and then off my particular car. I also look for evidence of guns and knives on Black and Hispanic youths. Yeah, I profile – it only makes common sense.

  • Half of bombplotters were Gitmo alum

    According to that bastion of right wingnuts at ABC News, two of the four leaders of the plot to bomb a flight into Detroit on Christmas Day, graduated from the Guantanamo Finishing School;

    American officials agreed to send the two terrorists from Guantanamo to Saudi Arabia where they entered into an “art therapy rehabilitation program” and were set free, according to U.S. and Saudi officials.

    Art therapy rehabilitation doesn’t appear to be effective, so we probably ought to stop doing that – along with sending Gitmo detainees to Saudi Arabia – or any other country that advocates art therapy. Of course, my friends at the ACLU will preach to us that these two became terrorists BECAUSE of Guantanamo. But they all got picked up for a reason, fellas.

    The clowns at Huffington Post picked up on “Matthew Alexander’s” line that Guantanamo was al Qaeda’s main recruiting tool.

    Personally, I think Matthew Alexander is al Qaeda’s main recruiting tool.

  • Sympathy for the devil

    Washington Post takes the time and the column inches to drum up sympathy for Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. They pour through 300 internet messages that federal authorities believe to be from Abdulmutallab;

    “I have no one to speak too [sic],” read a posting from January 2005, when Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was attending boarding school. “No one to consult, no one to support me and I feel depressed and lonely. I do not know what to do. And then I think this loneliness leads me to other problems.”

    Boo-fricken-hoo for the incompetent boob. The Post uncatalogued his education and privilege;

    Farouk1986 wrote about considering applications to U.S. and British universities, including University College London, where officials said Abdulmutallab enrolled in a mechanical engineering course from September 2005 to June 2008. He also wrote about his family’s wealth; Abdulmutallab’s father, Alhaji Umaru Mutallab, a frequent visitor to the United States, retired this year as chairman of First Bank of Nigeria and still sits on the boards of several prominent Nigerian firms.

    Yet with all of that education, opportunity and a month spent training in Yemen, the retard couldn’t blow his own balls off. At this point, I don’t think we need to waste time trying to mitigate his actions for him. It’s pretty clear that he’s guilty since he’s wearing the scars of his failures. I’m against the death penalty, but this doofus tests my convictions.

    The Washington Times reports that an al Qaeda group in Yemen took credit for the attack;

    Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, a group that claims loyalty to Osama bin Laden, said in posts left on jihadist Web forums that the plot against Northwest Airlines Flight 253 was launched in response to recent “American aggression” in Yemen, which has been the site of recent U.S. predator drone attacks.

    Yeah, well, the drone attacks were in response to countless acts of Muslim agression, dimbulb.

    The group boasted that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab managed to avoid detection by screening machines when he boarded a plane in Amsterdam bound for Detroit with “a technologically advanced [explosive] device” hidden in his underpants.

    The device was so “technologically advanced” that it couldn’t be detonated by the panty bomber after a month’s training.

    The Yemeni group claims the attempt was in response to drones, but I’m guessing their Iranian masters timed the event to give cover to their own crackdown in Tehran. Afterall, the guy had been training for a month before the drones attacked terrorist compounds.

  • The system worked AGAIN!

    The Washington Times reports that a homeless man in Frederick, Maryland tried to steal an airplane – but once again, the system worked!

    A homeless man stole a small plane Monday morning from a suburban D.C. airport but crashed before getting airborne, according to law enforcement officials.

    As long as the homeless people continue to comply with the Laws of Gravity, we’ll remain safe from their attacks.

    Good job, Janet!

  • Sarah Lazare is exhausting

    I have an internet feed that tracks a good number of the anti-war bozos and the news all this weekend has blared out headlines that “The US military is exhausted”. All of the far Left, anti-war blogs (by “all” I mean literally hundreds of cut and paste blogs) are running an Al-Jazeera article by that title written by Sarah Lazare, who happens to be the “project coordinator” for Courage to Resist – a band of smelly hippies who help the military’s derelicts be derelict.

    But anyway, her contention is that the military is just worn out from the war. Of course, the best way to spread that kind of lie is on Al-Jazeera, which has a stake in the defeat of the US military, Besides no semi-legitimate news organization would give the hairy-legged Lazare a column inch for this kind of tripe;

    Many from within the ranks are openly declaring that they have had enough, allying with anti-war veterans and activists in calling for an end to the US-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, with some active duty soldiers publicly refusing to deploy.

    This growing movement of military refusers is a voice of sanity in a country slipping deeper into unending war.

    Many? She counts two – Victor Agosto and Travis Bishop. Seems to me if there are “many” she’d have more stories than those two. Digging a little deeper, I found she’s been collaborating with Dahr Jamail who has also been trying to pimp the story that the military is on the verge of complete collapse because of all of the desertions – based on interviews he did five and six years ago with stellar troops like Geogg “Stolen Valor” Millard.

    Of course, Lazare sees the real reason for the US war in the Middle East as a war of imperialism;

    The never-ending nature of this conflict belies the real project of establishing US dominance in the Middle East and control of the region’s resources, at the expense of the Afghan civilians and US soldiers being placed in harm’s way.

    The region’s resources. Because every imperial power needs a major shit hole to administrate. Our children are always demanding newer sources of sand and rocks for their playground antics.

    Lazare, you’re an idiot – I don’t mean that as an insult. It’s the closest thing to a compliment I could summon.

  • Napolitano: Now, you’re not safe

    After spending all day yesterday telling everyone who would listen that “the system worked”, our Homeland Security Secretary is now telling us the exact opposite;

    Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says the aviation security system failed when a young man on a watch list with a U.S. visa in his pocket and a powerful explosive hidden on his body was allowed to board a fight from Amsterdam to Detroit.

    A day after saying the system worked, Napolitano said her words had been taken out of context. She said Monday on NBC’s “Today” show that “our system did not work in this instance.”

    Isn’t that what we were saying yesterday, while Napolitano was telling us that up is down and black is white? I wonder what’s going on here. Oh, wait…

    The White House press office, traveling with President Barack Obama in Hawaii, said early Monday that the president would make a statement from the Kaneoho Marine Base in the morning.

    Oh, so not only did his advisors wait three hours to tell the president about the attack, he’s going to make a speech nearly four days after the event, and he sent Napolitano out to test the waters. Regardless, they’re both incompetent boobs.

  • No larger plot

    Old Trooper sends along this link from UK’s The Sun;

    Cops fear that 25 British-born Muslims are plotting to bomb Western airliners. The fanatics, in five groups, are now training at secret terror camps in Yemen. It was there London-educated Umar Abdulmutallab, 23, prepared for his Christmas Day bid to blow up a US jet.

    The British extremists in Yemen are in their early 20s and from Bradford, Luton and Leytonstone, East London. They are due to return to the UK early in 2010 and will then await internet instructions from al-Qaeda on when to strike. A Scotland Yard source said: “The great fear is Abdulmutallab is the first of many ready to attack planes and kill tens of thousands.

    “We know there are four or five radicalised British Muslim cells in the Yemen.

    Oh, wait, there’s that Yemen word again. Bledsoe went there, Abdulmutallab went there, Hasan’s cleric lived there, we’re releasing some Gitmo hard cases there in coming months, we’ve launched some missiles there in recent days. But Janet Napolitano assures us that there’s no larger plot afoot.

    And, oh, hey…that Nigerian guy who just happened to get sick on the same flight two days after Abdulmutallab – that was just a coincidence, don’t worry about it. It wasn’t a cover up or anything, or to make the next plane load of victims think a few seconds longer before they act. Trust Janet.

    AP tells us that PETN is easily detectable;

    Crippin and law enforcement officials said modern airport screening machines could have detected the chemical. Airport “puffer” machines – the devices that blow air onto a passenger to collect and analyze residues – would probably have detected the powder, as would bomb-sniffing dogs or a hands-on search using a swab.

    And yet….

    Oh, did any one notice that video I added in the last post also had that homo Gibbs blaming the Bush Administration for the attack “understanding that these procedures are several years old” so how could the failure be Obama’s fault? Besides, no one told him for three hours.
