  • That terror threat in Europe

    I was reading an article from the Associated Press about the terror threat to Europe that the US has been helping the Euro-wienies with which was supposed to be a shooting spree ala Mumbai, but on a larger scale.

    I stopped when I got to this point;

    The recent terror threat has prompted a surge of attacks by unmanned U.S. drones in Pakistan, a Western counterterrorism official said.

    The official said the targeted strikes were aimed at al-Qaida and other militant groups arrayed in Pakistan’s tribal region near the Afghanistan border. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the details of the terror plot remain sensitive.

    Another British government official, however, said that while the drone strikes are thought to have disrupted the planning of the attacks the operation was still considered active.

    The Obama administration has intensified the use of drone-fired missiles in Pakistan’s border area, but this month there have been at least 21 attacks — more than double the highest number fired in any other single month.

    Now, wait a second. Why would they have more targets suddenly? Do they know where the al Qaeda bases are so when they need to give the impression that they’re tough on terror, they fly out a couple of zombie ninja robots, fire off rockets at a known pre-plotted base? Or are they flying around Waziristan firing off rockets at everything that moves? Or are there just more targets because of the planned operation?

    In order to increase the attacks, it has to be one of the three choices, because in order to have double the number of attacks, you have to have double the number of targets. But you knew that.

    I’m leaning towards the first choice. Since Bob Woodward proved what we suspected, that the Obama Administration uses the war like every other issue, as a political opportunity.

    Every time there’s a new successful drone attack, dicksmith pees himself and belts out another “Obama’s winning!!!” post at Vote Vets. So I wonder if they leave a boatload of targets untouched until they need good news about the war to distract from something else. Playing Russian Roulette with our troops’ welfare.

    In the next paragraph, some anonymous Pakistani government official says that Pakistan is stepping up operations in the last two weeks…it doesn’t seem to me that two weeks of increased Pakistani operations would double the number of targets for the month.

    Hey, I’m no expert, I’m just asking logical questions.

  • On the anti-war trail again

    Well, summer is over and it’s time for the rested and tanned anti-war crowd to take to the streets again. IVAW has begun it’s seasonal mental masturbation with their Operation Recovery to Stop the Deployment of Traumatized Troops – a worthy endeavor. Especially if the were a bit more specific about what is a “traumatized troop”.

    They say that Operation Recovery is “our effort to stop the deployment of troops suffering from PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Military Sexual Trauma. By signing our pledge, you agree to do what you can to help defend the rights of soldiers to heal and to hold accountable those who are responsible for deploying traumatized troops.

    I’m pretty sure that the military doesn’t want those guys deployed either. But there’s some yelling fire in a crowded theater going on from some members of IVAW.

    Like Ethan McCord, the soldier from the Wikileaks video who carried one of the wounded children to an aid vehicle. Since he that video was released, he’s made a real pest of himself. Like in this article in which he said the military was engaged in something “reminiscent of ethnic cleansing“. Perhaps “reminiscent of Jengis Khan” was the phrase you were looking for, McCord?

    In another article, McCord tells an ugly hippie chick that after the incident recorded in the above mentioned video, he told his squad leader that he needed help and his squad leader told him to get the sand out of his pussy. He doesn’t mention the name of the squad leader or the date of the incident. So we’re left with just McCord’s word. The way we’re always left with these goofballs. But the headline of the article is “Mentally injured troops used to murder children and women daily“. Nothing left to figure out there.

    For one thing, the war that McCord left isn’t the same war. For another thing, unless he’s willing to name names and places about all of the mistreatment he endured from his commander, platoon leader, squad leader and whoever else he wants to implicate, I don’t place a bit of trust in a thing he says. And all of this non-specific tale-telling is going to get him in a bunch of trouble with those people someday.

    I’m positive there wasn’t an order to kill everyone in sight when an IED detonated on his convoy as he claims. I haven’t been to Iraq during the current war, but I’m pretty sure everyone in the world knows that when an IED explodes, everyone in your sight didn’t know it was going to explode, or they’d have taken cover before it did – so what’s the use in killing them?

    And if this unnamed squad leader did indeed tell him to get the sand out of his pussy, why hasn’t he done it yet?

  • Woodward comes through for Obama

    Now that we’ve had the customary launch of another Bob Woodward book. this one “Obama’s War” we get to sit through months of Bob Woodward rewriting the book in the media to cover all of his liberal friends. In his first explanation, published this morning, Woodward tries to give cover to the Obama Administration, right before the midterm elections, by blaming the military for his long delay and ultimately lightweight decision to send less than half the troops to Afghanistan that the commanders asked.

    When his national security team gathered in the White House Situation Room on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2009, for its eighth strategy review session, the president erupted.

    “So what’s my option? You have given me one option,” Obama said, directly challenging the military leadership at the table, including Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates, Joint Chiefs Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen and Army Gen. David H. Petraeus, then head of U.S. Central Command.

    “We were going to meet here today to talk about three options,” Obama said sternly. “You agreed to go back and work those up.”

    Mullen protested. “I think what we’ve tried to do here is present a range of options.”

    Obama begged to differ. Two weren’t even close to feasible, they all had acknowledged; the other two were variations on the 40,000.

    Silence descended on the room. Finally, Mullen said, “Well, yes, sir.”

    Mullen later explained, “I didn’t see any other path.”

    See, you can’t really blame the commanders on the ground and the leaders on the President’s staff – they thought Obama wanted to win in Afghanistan. As we can see, his priority was to leave Afghanistan regardless of the outcome. Our commanders are accustomed to some sort of victory…and Obama clearly doesn’t consider that an important option. He’s perfectly happy watching troops die while him and Bite-Me plan a hasty withdrawal.

    I’m pretty sure the president and the Taliban have come to an agreement that the Taliban will surrender their arms as soon as the US leaves.

    More likely, the final pictures of the US involvement in Afghanistan will be similar to the last photos of the US involvement in South Vietnam.

  • Abusing detainees at Guantanamo; the horror, the horror

    This is an actual article at The Daily Mail. As far as I can tell, it’s not satire;

    Yes, that’s right, the only thing this reporter could find to complain about is that detainees only get one ice cream each.

    The ice cream rationing has now led the journalist to question Guantanamo Bay’s motives, suspecting that it might be an attempt to reduce spending.

    Next thing you know, they won’t be allowed sprinkles or gummy bears on their single serving of ice cream.

    Doug Powers at Michele Malkin’s place writes;

    When the jack-booted era of Bush/Cheney came to a close I thought such human rights nightmares had ended, but apparently this kind of thing is still allowed in a so-called civilized society. Let’s just call it what it really is: Dairyboarding!

    The Jawa Report has a picture of the actual sign on the refrigerator which proves the crime against humanity.

    Everyone knows that the Geneva Convention of 1954, in paragraph (c)(4) says; “Every prisoner of war will be allowed a minimum of two Lunchables through the day, not at mealtime – and not the pizza kind – and unlimited portions of ice cream”. What? Don’t believe me? Look it up! Do you know how to read? Think for yourselves, sheeple!

    Clearly, the Obama Administration has over stepped the bounds of decency and do not respect the rights of NAMUHs.

    Why doesn’t this “journalist” go count the number of servings of ice cream that Bowe Bergdahl gets – he’s the US soldier known to be held by the Taliban.

  • The war goes on

    You’d hardly know there’s a war going on these days when Congress and the president are trying to force their way into the media. They registered their votes, so their war seems to be over.

    But someone sent us this picture of his son that was taken by an embedded reporter (remember those guys?) and put out over the wires;

    The caption reads; “SSG Joshua Strickland after “going black” on ammo in his M203 retrieves an M249 SAW from a wounded comrad before rejoining the fight to defend COP Nolen.”

    You all know our submitter, so prayers for his son are appropriate and welcomed.

  • FARC’s #2 eats hot lead

    The Star (Reuters) is reporting that the Colombian communist guerrilla group FARC is reeling from the aerial attack which killed their #2 commander, Mono Jojoy, pictured above in an Eric Shinseki black beret with FARC founder Manuel Marulanda.

    El Universal says that the defense minister of Colombia is calling this “the most significant blow to FARC in history”.

    Using his real name, Jorge Briceno, ABC writes;

    Briceno belonged to the FARC’s seven-member ruling Secretariat. The group’s main leader, Alfonso Cano, remains at large and is believed to be in the mountains of central Colombia.

    Colombian officials say they believe other Secretariat members are hiding out in neighboring Venezuela.

    Good. That ought stir Hugo Chavez into making stupid mistakes and saying stupid shit.

    Once branded as a failing state, Colombia has seen bombings and kidnappings from its long war ebb and foreign investment has grown fivefold since 2002, when former President Alvaro Uribe began a hard-line campaign against the rebels.

    The news comes as former captive of FARC, Ingrid Betancourt releases a book about her experiences as a hostage for six and a half years. I haven’t read her book, but I did read the book “Out of Captivity” by the three American contractors who were held hostage by FARC for five years. In that book, Marc Gonsalves was not kind to Betancourt. Betancourt and the three American hostages, Marc Gonsalves, Thomas Howes and Keith Stansell, were rescued by Colombian special forces without firing a shot.

    I wonder how this administration will react to death of Mono Joyjoy (mono means “monkey” in Spanish) along with an estimate of 27 others in the attack.

  • Our whacky enemy

    Sporkmaster sent us this hilarious video. Watch the RPG team behind the reporter.

    Why isn’t this war over yet?

  • FBI chief warns of impending terrorist attacks

    Old Trooper sends us this link to ABC who reports that the FBI’s contends that terrorism, or the threat of terrorism, is on the rise in America today;

    The good news is that it’s finally al Qaeda and not our returning veterans, I suppose.

    “Groups affiliated with al Qaeda are now actively targeting the United States and looking to use Americans or Westerners who are able to remain undetected by heightened security measures,” Mueller said. “It appears domestic extremism and radicalization appears to have become more pronounced based on the number of disruptions and incidents.”

    Of course, with the elections approaching, it probably an attempt to highlight the fact that the Democrat administration was able to use the tools left in place by the Bush Administration successfully and have been able to keep us safe thus far. But then we had the President telling Bob Woodward that we’re able to absorb a terrorist attack. I guess he’s willing to sacrifice a relatively few Americans for the greater good.

    “During the past year our nation has dealt with the most significant developments in the terrorist threat to the Homeland since 9/11,” [National Counterterrorism Chief Michael] Leiter told the committee. “The attack threats are now more complex, and the diverse array of threats tests our ability to respond, and makes it difficult to predict where the next attack may come.

    Yeah, we can’t always count on wet matches to confound a terrorist plot as they’ve done in the past. Someday, terrorists are going to learn how to use Bic lighters.
