New rules for Purple Heart.
The Military is asking those who were denied thier Purple Heart for TBI cases to resubmit for further review. The change is due to identify TBIs easier then it was in the past.
With medical advances in the treatment and knowledge of concussion and MTBI injuries, the Army has been able to further identify the characteristics of the unseen wound and clarify guidance for entitlement to the Purple Heart, said Col. Tom Quinn, chief of Soldiers Programs and Services Division at Army Human Resources Command.
“In the past, concussion or MTBI injuries were very hard to diagnose,” Quinn said. “Treatments varied and were not the same across the board and medical officers weren’t always documenting that information in the Soldier’s records.”
Those that are facing this issue can contact HRC. Just a reminder that there is no time limit on the Purple Heart.
For Purple Heart award reconsideration, the injury must have occurred on or after Sept. 11, 2001. Active-duty and Reserve Component Soldiers must work with their chains of command, through the first general officer, by submitting a copy of their deployment orders, various Department of Army forms, a one-page narrative describing the incident and the conditions under which the Soldier was wounded.

How to donate to the Navy SEAL Foundation
I’ve gotten several emails from folks who are obviously heartbroken over the death of thirty of our finest warriors in that helicopter crash last weekend. Several have asked how they help the families, pay their respects or just give thanks for the sacrifice. I guess the best way is to give to the Navy SEAL Foundation.
I don’t normally refer folks to charities mostly because I don’t know them by reputation, but the Seal Foundation seems to be legitimate. But I don’t want to be considered a clearinghouse for charities.
I know not all of the casualties this weekend were SEALs, but it’s a place to start. Thanks to Fox News for putting the link on their front page.

Free Republic’s “Last Stand” at Walter Reed

We got an email last night from Trooprally, the Free Republic’s main instigator of the more than 6 years-long rally outside of Walter Reed on Friday nights when the wounded arrive from the Was Against Terror. They began their vigil when Code pink and the union thugs started protesting the wars at Walter Reed front gate. According to Phil, the hippies still show up in anemic numbers, but halfway down the street after our buddy, Concrete Bob, scooped up their corner when they let their permit expire briefly.But here’s the email about their “Last Stand” on July 29th;
The DC Chapter of FReeRepublic invites all patriots to stand together with us at Walter Reed for one last big gathering on JULY 29,2011, at the main gate at Georgia Avenue and Elder Street, NW. We will stand in support from 6:30PM to around 9:20PM when the dinner bus returns, cheering the wounded and their families through the gate.
You have been an integral part in our support of the wounded at Walter Reed. This will be the last big gathering at Walter Reed before it closes down in August. Also, we do not know when the Friday night dinner buses will stop taking the wounded and their families out to dinner, but rest assured, the DC Chapter will continue the Friday nights until the last bus returns.
If you cannot make it on July 29, email me to see if we will be there so you can join us. We expect the dinner bus to keep running several weeks into August.
This will also be the 328th CONSECUTIVE Friday night that patriots have stood at Walter Reed. We have stood there on Christmas Day 2009, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve,2010, on 9/11/2009, Good Fridays, tropical storms, snow storms, rain storms, 12 degree temperature when the bus finally returned, and each Friday in between. We are on our 3rd generation MOAB.
The DC Chapter will have banners, signs, patriotic music, drinks and plenty of pizza.
Hope to see some familiar patriots that night.
This invite is being sent to some patriots who I know cannot make it, but I wanted to keep you apprised of an end of one of the greatest troop support rallies in history. It is only surpassed by years of support families gave their loved during WWII while they fought for our freedom. In WWII, soldiers were away from home for years at a time.
The DC Chapter says Thank You for your support at Walter Reed.
Coincidentally, I have an appointment at Walter Reed that afternoon, so I’ll be there. TAH has some history with the Walter Reed Freep, they even invited me and my wife to their Christmas party one year. but here are some links to some of our coverage;

Kunis’ Marine Ball date
Some of you have sent em links to a Reuters report that Mila Kuni’s date with Staff Sergeant Scott Moore is off, but Fox says differently;
But a “yes” is a “yes,” especially when the “yes” is to a marine stationed overseas in Afghanistan, right?
According to one report, Kunis will indeed be in production, so she’s trying to meet up with Sgt. Moore for a private get-together at an undisclosed location at an undisclosed time.
But E! Online is reporting that while Kunis does have schedule conflicts, she and her posse are doing all they can to organize her production schedule so that she and Sgt. Moore can attend the highly anticipated ball together.
The video of Mila’s acceptance of the invitation;
Justin Timberlake’s involvement in the whole process may have put him in the same situation;
And if Kunis fulfills her promise, Justin Timberlake may have to as well, as the whole “Asking a celebrity to the Marine Corps Ball on a video” phenomenon has snowballed, and Timberlake now has his own request from a female Marine to answer.
