Earlier this week we reported that Justin Timberlake followed through on his promise to attend the Marine Corps Ball with Corporal Kelsey DeSantis. Timberlake’s date was sparked by an invitation to Mila Kunis from Sergeant Scott Moore. You’ll b happy to know that Kunis followed through on her promise, too, according to a link sent to us by CavRick.
Unfortunately for us peekers, there haven’t been any photos released yet, mostly because the media wasn’t allowed to attend.
According to Fox411;
Kunis, 28, was reportedly whisked straight from the airport to the convention center to meet her date, Sgt. Scott Moore, who just recently returned from seven months of heavy fighting in the Musa Qala and Now Zad districts in Afghanistan. The couple was said to be very much enjoying the evening.
Thanks to UpNorth for linking a Marine Corps photo;
This is pretty cool – it’s the WVU Marching Band’s salute to veterans and I think it’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.
Thanks to Pat for sending us the link.

OND_Soldier sends a link to the story that Justin Timberlake followed through on the invitation he received from a Marine to attend the Marine Corp Ball with her.
According to local television station WTVR, the wife of one of the marines at the ball said Timberlake ‘posed for pictures and seemed like a normal guy’.
At his website, Timberlake seems grateful for the invitation;
I had the honor and privilege last night of attending The Basic School Instructor Battalion 236th Marine Corps Birthday Ball at the Greater Richmond Convention Center with Corporal Kelsey DeSantis…
I knew I would have an evening that I wouldn’t forget… Something I could tell my friends about. What I didn’t know was how moved I would be by the whole experience.
I’ve always been very vocal about my support of our Armed Forces. I’ve always felt like they offered us the opportunity to live our lives freely without the fear that so many other nations have to endure still to this day. And, they do it without asking for anything in return. I had this very feeling walking into this dinner. So, to say I was stoked to be there would be more than accurate.
I’d type more if my vision was a little clearer after watching this video;
Thanks to Tman for the link.
Since two years have passed since the shootings at Fort Hood one of the surviving is working to make sure that the survivors are remembered and not forgotten. The founder, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Christopher Royal.
is calling the group “32 Still Standing”.
“Being from Alabama I’ve been taught that when you find something that is broken, you fix it so that’s what 32 Still Standing is about – we’re just trying to take care of each other,” said CW3 Royal.
Royal’s running to raise funds to help with anything from victim’s medical bills, to scholarships for their children.
But even with the injuries and effects of that day, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Christopher Royal offered these words.
As for Stephanie who remembers November 5th all too well, the anniversary won’t be a time to remember the fear, but to celebrate all the survivors who are still standing.
“This was the chance to actually do it. Something to push you over the edge, you know you’ve been thinking about it, talking about. Just do it. So we’re doing it.”
Today marks 40 days till my son ships for Navy Boot Camp. In addition to all the obvious stuff I worry about, I don’t want him to be gone and then wish I had really taken advantage of the time we still had. You know how you tell yourself that THIS Christmas you’re going to really relish the season, and then slam, bam it’s New Year’s? I don’t want that to happen.
His leaving isn’t in any way comparable to all of the “40 days” in the Bible, but being Christian, 40 days can’t help but stand-out in my attention as a time to take notice.
I set the date and started inviting people to Beef’s going away party, I cried like a silly girl when he hugged me this morning and fist pumped the 40-day mark. Then, we talked about if he would want to be informed if something bad happened while he was gone. And, finally, I picked out the fabric to start sewing my Blue Star.

I’ll keep you updated on my Blue Star’s progress. I have a bunch of kids and I’m not very consistent by nature. I also started writing Beef letters, so he will get letters while he’s gone even when I’m scatterbrained or overwhelmed by regular life.
In my focus on my own family, I don’t want to forget that three families of young men in their 20s changed their blue stars to gold over the weekend, according to iCasualties.org.

Some publicist folks sent us this video from the Las Vegas band OTHERWISE who is releasing a new single entitled “Soldiers” on September 11th. They’ve pledged all of the proceeds from the sales of the single to Families of September 11 Organization and Wounded Warriors Project.
It’s a pretty kick-ass song for a pretty kick-ass cause. Details on how to purchase the single are at their Facebook page. You can buy it from ITunes! or from Amazon.com on September 11th.
There’s more about the band and their music at their website.
