  • IAVA and Miller hates veterans

    You’ve probably seen this disingenuous commercial from Miller Beer;

    In the commercial, the spokesperson claims that if you send them your Miller bottle caps, they’ll donate a dime to Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. That’s not exactly true – they donate a dime to Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. Notice all of the T-shirts with tire tracks on them in the commercial. Those are the “branded” merchandise of IAVA. Apparently, the twelve packs of Millers has the “brand“on them, too. While it’s partially true that the dime will go to benefit an Afghanistan or Iraq veteran, it’ll be one of those 13 veterans employed by IAVA…or one of the 26 non-veteran employees. I wonder how many of the people in the commercial were veterans.

    And I wonder how Miller got away with filming the commercial without Rieckhoff’s knobby head in there somewhere.

    Our buddy Alex Horton tweeted this morning;

    I feel ya, Alex.

    I’ll be honest, I never drink Miller…even if someone buys it for me…but I’ve turned away advertising and publicity for other organizations who support IAVA (including the singing group 4Troops who donates part of their CD sales to IAVA), and I’ve told them why I’m turning them down. I hope you join me in my lifetime boycott of IAVA and Miller Beer. And tell your local vendor why you’re not buying Miller.

  • Spoiled ditz doesn’t support the troops

    Some spoiled ditz explains “Why I Do Not Support the Troops”

    Of course, it’s because the troops have killed over a million innocent Iraqis, that they’re not courageous because they gun down 5 year-olds. She explains that being in the military is the perfect job for a serial killer and that our troops are indeed serial killers since, by her assessment, we’re only killing innocents in the Middle East.

    She continues that members of IVAW are more courageous than the troops who do the job they’ve agreed to do.

    Of course, we’ve not killed a million people in Iraq – many of the innocent Iraqis who died during the war were killed by the people we’re fighting. Many of the people who’ve died in Afghanistan were killed by the former ruling party of that country. Many of the people in IVAW haven’t even been to the war, so they don’t even know what it is they disagree with about the war – their decisions, like little Kassie Dill here are based on erroneous assumptions.

    She should just admit that her main disagreement with the troops is that they’re willing to make sacrifices that she’s unwilling to make and they make her feel inadequate. No one likes the idea of war, Kassie, but war is a reality of our times, and just because you’re unwilling to accept that simple fact, that’s no reason to disparage the people who are willing to face reality from the relative safety of your bedroom in your parents’ house. That relative safety that was secured for you by people who are better than you.

  • Requesting assistance and info on Specal Forces Poser.

    Ok it’s that time again with this one being from June of this year from POW.net. We have a William Timothy Dorsch that is claiming to be prior service Marine, joined the Army and Became SF.

    Lets see what what wrong in this photo beside the person in it. We have the CIB, standard poser issue. Purple Heart always a regular. An Army Soldier’s Medal at the very bottom of the stack. Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait Version) is in the top tier. Lets not bring in the jump wings (off centered)or the Cavalry Branch items he is wearing.

    But what is more interesting is what you do not see. Like the missing National Defense Medal(with Service Star for the South West Asian Service medal) or the Army Service Ribbon. The two awards that everyone that has entered the Army since 2001 has received he is missing. But he has a GWOT service medal that states that his imaginary service date that entered 2001.

    So lets get the word out and see if we can add another kill mark to the busted tally.

  • IAVA’s 5th Annual Heroes’ Gala

    Yeah, we got an invitation last night from Paul Rieckhoff to attend IAVA’s Annual Heroes’ Gala in New York City.

    We’re thrilled to announce that NBC Nightly News Anchor Brian Williams will again serve as our Master of Ceremonies. And this year, we are proud to honor Corporal Aaron Mankin, Iraq veteran, wounded warrior and spokesperson for UCLA’s Operation Mend, with the IAVA 2011 Veterans Leadership Award. And here’s the really big news: IAVA will also be recognizing committed supporter Stephen Colbert, host of Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, with the IAVA 2011 Civilian Service Award! You won’t want to miss that.

    Yeah, ya know how thrilled they are? They’re charging $5000/couple.

    We hope you’ll be there to join our audience of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, dedicated supporters, and distinguished members of the veterans’ community for this incredible night.

    Yeah, even at the cheap seat, obstructed view cost ($500 per), how many Iraq and Afghanistan veterans will be in the audience? To see Brian Williams and Stephen Colbert? Seriously? If I sent $500 directly to Stephen Colbert and Brian Williams, they’d probably come to my house and make me a sandwich after they got done ironing my shirts. For $5000 they’d build my garage.

    That’s what I mean when I say that all IAVA does is take in money without a thought for the troops.

    Your participation will help IAVA tackle startlingly high unemployment and suicide rates among returning vets. Your attendance will help ensure that Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families receive the honor, care and support they deserve throughout their lives.

    Really? How is IAVA “tackling” those problems, Paul? By writing how they’re not really heroes in the New York Times? The only job you’ve ever got for a veteran is your own.

    I don’t know how many times I’ve read on this blog about veterans who joined IAVA because they believed the excellent ads and then never heard another word from IAVA.

    Hollywood-hugging, pole-smoking charlatans.

    Fat f**king chance that I’ll be there, Paul. Unless Blackfive is springing for one of those $1/4 million tables.

  • Sputtering “Rock” Harris

    The story about faux-Ranger Harris continues today in the Eastern North Carolina Today. Despite the fact that most of the Rangers who were in Mogadishu say that Harris was never a member of the unit, Harris mitigates his dishonesty by claiming the journalist wasn’t listening to him;

    Harris said he had 316 confirmed sniper kills, all of which were in the last three years of his service. “I think you had the number of confirmed kills wrong. … I must have been talking about my overall unit,” Harris told the reporter Tuesday. A review of the interview, recorded on a voice recorder, showed he did, in fact, say 316. [Actual Ranger Raleigh] Cash and [actual Ranger Matt] Eversmann said there’s no truth in the unit having 316 confirmed kills, either. Cash said he believed the record for confirmed sniper kills was about 90 for an individual, and that happened during the Vietnam War.

    And Harris’ current job is now in jeopardy;

    A supervisor at Down East Protection Services said he reviewed Harris’ DD214 before he was hired and did not suspect it could have been false.

    The journalist got schooled in spotting phonies;

    “What I did was what they call black ops, and there’s not a lot said about it,” Harris said then. “None of that is ever made public record.”

    [Actual Ranger Raleigh] Cash said he has heard of about 10 people falsely claiming to have been in Mogadishu and many use “black ops” as a cover.

    “That’s poser 101 — black ops, secret missions, there’s no record of it,” Cash said. “If you ever hear that, that person is completely full of poop. That kind of stuff doesn’t happen. There’s a record. There’s always a record.”

    Another flag is the “my records were burned in the National Archives fire”.

    Our buddy, Doug Sterner chimes in;

    Harris claimed his DD214 stated he had won two Silver Stars, which cannot be true, according to Sterner. “There have only been two people since the Vietnam War who have received two Silver Stars,” Sterner said. “Only one was in the Army … and he was killed in action.”

    So, unless Harris is now claiming he was killed in combat, it ain’t him.

  • IAVA and Craigslist hate Blue Star Families

    OK, they probably don’t hate Blue Star Families but that’s my pay back for Paul Rieckhoff’s “Miley Cyrus Hates Veterans” post. Anyway, pay attention here while I roll out this turd.

    Craig Newmark, the founder of Craigslist had a contest to benefit veterans’ organizations…a worthy enterprise. According to someone who calls himself “Anonymous Friend” and sent me this tip, the competing organizations had to have at least four reviews on the “Great Nonprofits” rating website that helps keep nonprofits honest by disclosing what people think about them. I haven’t seen the rules for the contest, so I have to take the tipster’s word for it. Here’s IAVA’s page on Great Nonprofits. Notice they only have one review…and SURPRISE! it was written by Craig Newmark. (I have screen shots of all of this shit because Rieckhoff has a habit of altering shit when I write about it). So I went over and checked Guidestar, another nonprofit organization information clearing house and there was only one review there, too, and guess who wrote it;

    Anyway, IAVA won the contest by getting the most donations and Newmark gave them $40,000 even though they didn’t even qualify by Newmark’s own rules. In fact, of the four competitors only Blue Star Families were qualified and they came in last place;

    So, it’s Newmark’s money and he can give it to whomever he wants, right? Well, do you think that any of those other organizations would have participated or that the donors would have given money if they had known that Newmark is on IAVA’s Board of Directors?

    So not only is Newmark writing reviews to help IAVA qualify for his contest, he has a vested interest in IAVA winning his money. Ever wonder why companies sponsoring contests have that disclosure about not allowing employees and families to participate? It’s to avoid embarrassing moments like this and not fostering the appearance of favoritism. It may not be illegal, but it certainly doesn’t look like some people who are thinking about veterans first. And it all looks purposely deceptive.

    And by the way, if I were a member of IAVA, I’d be asking what all of this money is paying for. Has anyone seen IAVA under Paul Rieckhoff spend their money on anything besides ads that make promises they don’t deliver? You’re expected to heal just because you’re carrying a membership card. WTF has IAVA done for anyone besides Paul Rieckhoff? I think Reickhoff is becoming a liability to the organization and it’s time for someone less interested in himself and more interested in Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans.

  • Flotilla sinks, figuratively speaking

    The Greeks were successful in that they kept the Code Pink Sea Hags from killing themselves in an attempt to invade Gaza. Of course, they don’t see it that way;

    Now our folks are beginning the journey home – some will arrive today, some tomorrow and others in the days ahead. Everyone is tired, but their energy is strong! They will share their stories and talk about their experiences in communities everywhere. And they will use this incredible time they shared in Athens as a spring board for further activism and organizing.

    Only hippies would be interested in hearing from other hippies how they failed so spectacularly. And only hippies would continue pouring their money down the dark, gaping bottomless hole that is Code Pink. If their goal is to get supplies to Gaza, they’ve failed twice. If their goal is to raise more money that they didn’t earn to make empty gestures, they’re succeeding, but how does that help anyone except the Sea Hags? In fact, it looks like poor Greek who rented his boat to them might not get it back from his government. And they’re leaving their Captain behind facing charges from the government. So everyone is a winner!

    But, hey, they marched on the Spanish Embassy in Athens so it’s not a complete waste. Right?

    And if you’re worried about the filthy hippie punks who were fasting, their fast ended before it began apparently. They only had to endure two days of banana smoothies and hot dogs.

  • Flotilla halted by Greek Coast Guard

    True to their word, the hippies headed to break the blockade around the Gaza strip tried to slip out of their Greek mooring earlier. 25 minutes later, the Greek Coast Guard stopped them in their wake. (Ynet link)

    Despite the Greek ban, the vessel left port around 4:45 pm Friday, Ynet learned. It was banned from departing by Greek officials citing technical problems, but chose to ignore the orders.

    In a conversation with Ynet, organizers of the US boat confirmed the details. One of them said that a Greek Coast Guard ship approached the boat and that the two sides were engaged in dialogue.

    Imagine that, Code Pink-influenced to flout authorities. I’d have never believed it.

    Apparently, the Greek captain of the “Audacity of Hope” has more brains than Medea and her assembled sea hags combined.

    Somehow, I don’t think the Grecian commandos will be as gentle with those hippies as the Israelis were last year. So far, they’ve alienated the Turks and the Greeks in just two days. I’m sure the Greek tax payers aren’t real happy with spending their scant money on keeping the hippies safe from themselves.
