  • So will Bernie denounce La Raza?

    Recently we were subjected to endless speculation from the media as to why Donald Trump wouldn’t denounce the Ku Klux Klan because a former leader of that white supremacist group, David Duke, had supposedly endorsed Trump’s presidential candidacy. Well, Duke said he didn’t, and Donald denounced until I was about ready to denounce Donald if he didn’t quit groveling to the yapping media with more denunciations – truly uncharacteristic for him.

    Now we’ve had a mob of a few hundred self-described Bernie Sanders supporters stop a Trump rally in Chicago with an unruly demonstration that had fistfights breaking out in the streets. It was impossible not to notice that liberally distributed throughout that crowd were numerous Mexican national flags, with a very large one being center focus of Fox News’s favored street shot of the mob. In spite of that flag being center screen for much of Greta Van Susteren’s coverage of the event, she apparently couldn’t see those broad white, green, and red bands waving in front of her because she kept asking the street reporters if they could identify the makeup of the crowd. And apparently the reporters were just as afflicted with colorblindness as Greta, for they never appeared to notice the half-dozen or so Mexican flags I counted in that small pack. And the color perception problem must be endemic at Fox, because Megyn Kelly couldn’t see those foreign banners, either, even as she was asking a reporter on the ground to identify the affiliation of the protesters.

    Since this protest was taking place in Chicago and appeared to be well organized, it would seem unlikely that a few Hispanics carrying Mexican flags just happened to wander onto the scene. I’m more inclined to believe that an inquiring Fox reporter might have discovered that they were professional protesters from a militant Hispanic organization, perhaps La Raza Unida or, considering the protesters’ youth, MEChA, both movements that advocate Hispanic racial superiority and separation and are entrenched in Chicago’s large Hispanic minority. Of course, the leadership of these organizations, and certainly the protesters, will deny that they are racist, but consider one of their oft-repeated mantras: “Por La Raza todo, Fuera de La Raza nada,” which translates to “For the Race, everything, outside the Race, nothing.”

    Does that sound a bit racist to you? Memo to Democrat protest planning headquarters: Multiple Mexican flags carried by angry protesters denying Trump the right to address an audience might be counterproductive, reinforcing in voters’ minds the validity of his call for a border wall.

    To put it all a bit more into perspective, do you suppose, had there been some pro-Trump counter-protesters out on those same streets waving Confederate Stars and Bars, that Fox might not have had so much difficulty spotting them? Think the terms racist, racism, and KKK might have been flying back and forth between Greta and Megyn and the street reporters in their outraged discussions of Trump supporters carrying that hateful symbol?

    So, Bernie, since that mob boasted that they’re yours, we’re all out here awaiting your vigorous public denunciation of those racist and separatist Hispanic demonstrators – uh…college students, who were a highly visible (except to Fox News) part of it. Or, as Trump was asked ad nauseam, do you embrace their racist and separatist views?

  • Is Democrat voting a vast criminal conspiracy?

    Thomas Lifson posted a recent blog piece pointing to some voting statistics reported by the Huffington Post. The gist of the H.P. piece was that Democrat voter turnout was down hugely in those states where voter ID legislation has been enacted – a decline some 285% greater than in states with no voter ID laws, in fact. While it is of course impossible to attribute direct cause and effect with no more proof than that available to us through our own lying eyes, we conservatives who have long advocated for voter identification are entitled to share a few smug eye rolls and some muttered told-you-sos.

    But the larger question is that should the statistics Lifson cites prove out through the remainder of this election year, will we then be looking at a nationwide turndown in Democrat voting in these states that have enacted voter identification laws? And will that then provide further evidence that many past campaigns in this country have most likely been determined by fraudulent voting?

    If the Democrat voter turnout trend continues through the general election to be significantly lower only in those states where voter ID laws have been recently enacted, you can bet the farm the Democrat leadership will be tap-dancing all over the place to find whatever other possible explanation they can. That may be easier for them if their presidential candidate loses, for they can then blame lack of voter interest due to poor candidate performance. However, that still won’t explain away the differential in voter turnout between states with no voter ID laws, where turnout remains relatively unchanged, and those states where voter ID was recently enacted and the vote declined significantly.

    What will then become evident is that the Democratic Party has been engaged in voter fraud on a broad, nationwide scale. An even more disturbing revelation that is sure to arise from all this is that the Democratic Party has most likely encouraged voter fraud in minority communities, where criminal evidence of such fraud is most commonly found. While I’m not about to contend that all voter fraud takes place in minority precincts, news stories of criminal voter fraud and the results will almost always be in those communities.

    Not only do I believe that Democrats are engaged in widespread voter fraud, but I believe they are playing the minority communities, black and Hispanic, to do the heavy lifting for them in this criminal enterprise. And to my way of thinking, that constitutes a vast criminal conspiracy on the part of the Democratic Party to undermine the electoral process with millions of fraudulent votes through a callous manipulation of their controlled minorities.

  • Duckworth ignores vets issues

    Duckworth ignores vets issues

    Duckworth VoteVets

    I don’t like Tammy Duckworth. I respect her service, but she’s been an incompetent boob since she left the military. Sadly, she lost her legs in a helicopter crash in Iraq. Then she went to work for anti-Bush MoveOn.org enclave, VoteVets. She was the Director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs from 2006 to 2009. Folks in Illinois tell me that she saw herself as a figure head rather than take advantage of an opportunity to be a veterans’ advocate.

    When she was hired by Rick Shineseki at the Veterans’ Affairs department, she brought the writing staff at VoteVets over to help cover up the failings of the Shinseki VA. While the VA burned around her, she volunteered to go to college full time while she was drawing a Senior Executive Services paycheck, ostensibly to ferret out deficiencies in the Department’s veterans benefit services. Duckworth used her status as a disabled veteran to shield herself from criticism, instead of actually doing something about the trials and tribulations that veterans in her situation suffer at the hands of a huge bureaucracy.

    NBC Chicago reports that nothing has changed since she was elected as the representative in Congress for veterans in Chicago.

    During a radio appearance Monday, Veterans Affairs whistleblowers Germaine Clarno and Dr. Lisa Nee claimed that Rep. Tammy Duckworth did little to respond to their claims of mistreatment of veterans and corruption within the Hines VA.

    According to their allegations, Duckworth was largely unresponsive to evidence related to veteran mistreatment and inadequate investigations conducted by the VA’s inspector general.

    Clarno claimed that, although she approached Duckworth “many” times, the congresswoman did little to respond to her claims.

    “I never felt that [Duckworth] wanted to hear exactly what was going on,” Clarno said. “I really thought going to Tammy Duckworth, that she would be the one who would stand up and say this has got to stop.”

    Anyone who expected Duckworth to give a rat’s ass about veterans should look at her record. Oh, by the way, she’s facing charges of whistleblower retaliation while she was at the Illinois Veterans Department. Duckworth’s life is about Duckworth, not anyone else. Anyone in Illinois who expects a change in her attitude if she’s elected to the Senate hasn’t been paying attention.

  • Donald Trump and the military

    Donald Trump and the military

    Several days ago, during one of the debates, presidential candidate Donald trump made this comment about his anticipated relationship with the Defense Department, according to the Washington Post;

    “They won’t refuse,” Trump said during Thursday’s debate on Fox News. “They’re not going to refuse me, believe me. If I say do it, they’re going to do it. That’s what leadership is all about.”

    Well, if he’s talking about issuing illegal orders, he’s wrong. The leaders in the Pentagon all the way down to the lowest shit-burning private have a duty to disobey illegal orders. In the Post, they quote Retired Army Lieutenant General Mark Hertling who agrees with me;

    “Somebody needs to remind Mr. Trump that the military is not his palace guards,” Hertling said. “They take an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic. They also abide by the rules — not only of the uniform code of military justice, the UCMJ — but they also abide by the U.N. mandate against torture and the Geneva Convention protocols against torture.”

    Trump doesn’t understand that the members of the military, individually swear allegiance to the Constitution and our system of laws, not to a single personality like the President;

    I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

    I’ve said since Trump got into the race for the presidency, that he doesn’t understand the limits of the office and the statement above proves that, if he really believes it. But, then I don’t believe he’s even serious about most of the things he says. If you think that you’re going to get the same Trump that is a candidate when he’s elected, you’re in for a surprise.

  • Gravy and biscuits

    Suzie-Q had an early morning medical test. She was not allowed to eat or drink anything since the evening before robbing her of her usually warm morning disposition. When the test finished, I took her to breakfast. I sat there at the table sipping my coffee pondering the plate filled with food the waitress sat in front of me. Over easy eggs, home fries, sausage links, gravy and biscuits. I would need to research to be certain, but I believe there is a law here in Wild and Wonderful declaring if it does not include gravy and biscuits it is not breakfast. I believe the same law also bans granola from all points west of the eastern panhandle. If not, it should.

    I put some butter and apple butter on the biscuits then covered them with gravy. Then I covered the home fries with gravy. Since there was still some gravy in the bowel, I covered my gravy with some more gravy. I winced a little when Suzie-Q squirted ketchup on the plate beside her hash browns confounded about where she might have picked up such a horrid habit.

    Any of those things sitting alone on the plate would not be a very good breakfast, but when combined brother, you have to mainline the lard straight into your arteries to beat it.

    Fried bologna (baloney here) is also a staple. At one popular eating place you can get fried baloney sandwiches. The menu fittingly calls it “The Politician.”

    For the first time, probably in our state’s history, we have a Republican controlled state congress. We are becoming a right to work state in a place with a history of gunfights erupting for crossing union picket lines. Common core is being blown up. As of this week, anyone one 21 years of age or older may carry a concealed handgun without a permit. We have always been an open carry state, but some people get a little nervous around exposed side arms. There is some concern, but when you get right down to it the bad people have always illegally carried concealed handguns. Now, they may just think twice. And, if I only want to carry inside the state I do not have to pay the permit fee (tax) to exercise a constitutional right. I will continue to pay the permit fee so that I can carry in reciprocal states.

    It does not surprise me that the Republican establishment, led by former presidential election losers, is plotting to take the political party’s nomination away from the people’s choice. It just surprises me they are so brazen about it including the self-proclaimed political puritans who state they will not vote for the choice of the people unless it is who they prefer solidifying their place in the I am smarter than you elitist snobocracy. So they should go back to writing smug commentary in magazines that the common American does not read and talking on radio programs that most working Americans do not have time listen to.

    For all I know, it is divine intervention that is awakening Americans to the antics of the typical tyrannical and corrupt Washington politician. Even more so, Americans are coming to realize that these men and women of bought and paid for political power only have interest in maintaining the status quo with an in your face approach. And they believe Americans will do as they traditionally have for decades – sit on the sidelines and watch the further destruction of our country and freedom. To their chagrin American are not sitting this one out. Instead, they are adding the final ingredient to the recipe for revolution presented to them.

    Did you ever have a fried apple biscuit followed by a hot and gooey cinnamon bun? It just tops off the perfect breakfast.

  • Fat floats

    Fat floats

    The Navy Secretary, Ray Mabus, is thankfully leaving that post, but as he leaves, he’s going to leave his footprint on the Navy. His latest decision is to relax body fat standards in the Navy, according to ABC News;

    Navy Secretary Ray Mabus said the service is not lowering standards but rather adjusting to reality: People today, in general, are bigger but not necessarily fat. The Navy is also considering larger uniforms sizes for the first time in two decades.

    “It’s far more realistic,” Mabus said of the new body fat standard. “We were kicking more people out of the Navy for failing that, than for drugs.”

    The number of sailors booted from the Navy annually because they did not meet physical standards has more than doubled from 694 in 2011 to 1,536 in 2014.

    The changes come amid debate over whether the physical requirements demanded of service members across the board are still relevant or should be adjusted according to the job so the armed forces can maintain the pool of talent it needs for today’s high-tech warfare.

    There’s been talk in the Army of easing up on strict body fat requirements for its cyber-warriors, for example.

    Yeah, there’s a way to measure body fat – it’s called the hydrostatic body fat test – based on the simple fact that fat floats and muscle doesn’t. So the more water that gets displaced when a person is immersed in a tank, the less fat they have under their skin because they sink further into the tank. But I guess that’s too much science for the Navy Secretary – it’s just easier to relax the standards. And make larger uniforms. Of course, maybe he’s thinking ahead. With maintenance dollars becoming more scarce, ships will fail to float, so sailors will be able to float when their boat sinks. You know what else floats?

  • Trump may be a tool, but not whose you think

    Against the long-ago given advice of the editors over at American Thinker, I always read carefully the comments on my writings for the simple reason that I occasionally find a pearl of wisdom that can serve as the premise for a subsequent article. Such was the case when commenter RMThoughts, posited the idea that the pundits and critics of Donald Trump have it exactly backwards when they accuse Trump of using Republican voters as tools to build his own political movement. Rather, Trump himself is the tool that has fallen into the hands of those long-ignored constituents, a tool to be used by the citizens to remake their party into an organization that truly represents their beliefs and values, led by leaders who truly share those beliefs and values and lead accordingly.

    I would recast that premise somewhat and suggest that Trump is more a weapon that has been taken up by those Republican voters as well as independents and Reagan Democrats, a stout, unyielding club with which to fight back against the elitist Republican leadership in Washington, D.C. and the elitist, coastal, mainstream media. Being from the South, I would prefer an axe handle to a club, an axe handle made of durable, resilient hickory which brings to mind Old Hickory, a comparison that can be drawn with Trump.

    Whatever weapon or tool we use to characterize Trump, the driving force behind the voters’ anger is clear: they are fed up with not being listened to by a national government that is supposed to operate constitutionally according to the people’s bidding, not as a federal ruling class that governs the people one way and themselves another. If anything, the conservative citizenry is even angrier at the liberal mainstream media that has served to enable the dissembling, disloyal, and dishonest leaders of both political parties. Had they done their jobs as political watchdogs, this country would not be in the mess it is. For certain, we wouldn’t have an affirmative action president hell-bent on dismantling this constitutional republic and remaking it into another Third World hellhole.

    But now millions of Americans have a weapon in our hands. That the weapon we’ve been handed is not perfect is clearly true, but when you’ve never had any weapon up till now, even an imperfect weapon will do.
