  • Trump; getting here from there

Those of us who are old enough to remember the 1980 election can’t help but compare it with last night. After losing the 1976 primary to Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan made himself the anti-Carter. Whatever Carter did, the media would find Reagan of the opposite opinion.

When the media wasn’t asking him, Reagan would use the only conservative media outlets to talk to Americans directly without the filter. Back then, there was only Commentary and the National Review magazines and William F. Buckley’s “Firing Line” TV show. Reagan or one of his supporters would appear at every opportunity in one of those mediums.

Reagan was also portrayed by Democrats to be a wild-eyed loose cannon who shouldn’t have his finger on the button – it had worked for them against Goldwater in 1964. Sound familiar?

Trump has been doing the media thing since 2012 by calling in to Fox & Friends every Monday morning at about 8 AM. That way, Trump got around the media to talk directly to a large group of conservative Americans and he became the anti-Obama so that folks who opposed the way Obama was running the country associated electing Trump as being the way to fix that – the same way they associated Reagan as the cure for Carter. Trump message didn’t have to run his message through a media filter on Fox News.

That worked for Reagan and again for Trump, so you can be sure that no other Republican will ever do it again.

The Trump campaign is now touting “secret” Trump voters for pushing him over the top last night. I can plead guilty to that label. I wasn’t sure how I was going to vote right up until yesterday morning when I watched a clip of Clinton screeching at her supporters and I decided that anything I did other than vote for Trump would subject me to that shrieking harpy’s voice for four years. So, I didn’t make up my mind until yesterday.

  • Is it morning in America again?

I believe the people who truly make this world go around, the battered American Middle Class, are as uncertain today as am I. We deserve better than we have. Or maybe we do not deserve better. One thing I do know, most of us have spent a lot of time chasing the American dream without checking on the political class and the media elite snob class who through corruption and collusion are putting the dream farther from reach with every corrupt deal and every item of unreported news. The other thing I know for certain is sometime tonight, Election Day 2016, our country will either experience a rebirth or it will die. Countries simply do not return from Progressivism/Communism and now add Globalism. Ask the Cubans and Chinese. Ask the open border Europeans.

Suzie-Q and I voted early this morning. Our polling place opened at 6:30 AM. We arrived there at about 6:45 and there was hardly a place to park. We have voted every election at that polling place for the 17 years we have lived here. Never have I seen so many people out to vote. As we were returning home, a great big orange, red sun was just up in the morning sky. The first thing that popped into my mind was the Regan ad, “It’s morning in America again.” Listening to that ad, it was so painfully obvious that the incumbent political party could offer nothing even remotely similar. All we have seen from the most corrupt politician to ever seek the office was personal attacks on her opponent. When you are void of ideas that is what you do. I never heard anything remotely approaching it because every policy over the past 7 plus years has been a spectacular failure. Everything from Middle East disasters, to Obama care to, Benghazi to, nearly 95 million Americans out of the workforce to, every federal agency being used as a weapon against Americans. And all the incumbent party and its establishment cronies in Congress and the media can offer is more of the same.

I saw where Mrs. Clinton canceled the fireworks display she had scheduled for her election night celebration. I do not interpret that to mean anything, but if members of her campaign staff start booking flights to countries without extradition treaties I will believe something is up.

We hear it every single election. “This is the most important election of a lifetime.” Well, this one truly is. Go vote and God Bless America.

  • Oopsie.

Well, it seems that Clintoon made a speech the other day.  She repeatedly thanked the folks in Greenville for coming to see her at a campaign rally.

There’s only one problem.  It seems she was speaking to a rally being held in Winterville, NCnot in Greenville.  Greenville, NC, is about 20 miles north of Winterville.

As you might guess, this didn’t exactly go over all that well with the folks attending the rally.  And apparently Clintoon got a bit snippy towards the end of the rally as well.

Maybe she really is “losing it”.

  • Rick Nolan; phony Reservist in Congress

Rick Nolan; phony Reservist in Congress

    Rick-Nolan-540x540

Someone sent us their work on this seated Congressman, Rick Nolan in Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District who made the claim in July to a group of veterans that he was a Reservist during the Vietnam War.

    Nolan Reservist

The claim was made twice in two different publications and appeared on Nolan’s website without correction even though he’s never made the claim before.

    The National Personnel Records Center and the FBI disagree with his claim;

    Rick Nolan FIA

    Alpha News contacted Nolan’s office about the claim;

Nolan’s press secretary responded to our inquiry stating, “Rep. Rick Nolan was in the United States Army Reserve Officers Training program from the Fall of 1962 until the spring of 1964 while he was a student at St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN.”

The United States Army Reserve Officers Training program is better known by its abbreviation, the ROTC program.

Speaking with an ROTC enrollment officer at St. John’s University, where Nolan attended, the officer explained he did not have records dating that far back. However, the ROTC program is an elective which has courses open to any student who is a freshman or sophomore in college. Anyone willing to make the commitment to serve their country could serve in an official capacity known as simultaneous membership program (SMP) in their junior and senior year.

They wouldn’t have transcripts of his credit courses? College students nationwide should be scared of that revelation.

Being in ROTC isn’t like being in the Reserves. If he had gone to even basic training, the NPRC would have a hit on his active duty service.

Alpha News requested clarification from Nolan’s D.C. office about these findings. The request for clarification was not returned.

Added 11/09/2016; It looks like Nolan won his reelection by just 70 votes.

  • Did the NYPD force the FBI to act on Weiner?

According to a Breitbart article discussing the reasons for the FBI’s renewed interest in the Clinton scandals, that move came at the insistence of the New York Police Department, who were the LEOs who claimed first possession and had first access to pervert Anthony Weiner’s laptop. The source for Breitbart was Erik Prince, former Navy SEAL and founder/former CEO of Blackwater, who says he has sources within the NYPD who have assured him that the Democrat pedophile’s computer contains an ambitious prosecutor’s dream’s worth of evidence of criminality against many Democrat politicians in Congress – and also, of course, the Clintons and their immediate entourage.

According to Prince, as quoted by Breitbart:

“They found State Department emails. They found a lot of other really damning criminal information, including money laundering, including the fact that Hillary went to this sex island with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Bill Clinton went there more than 20 times. Hillary Clinton went there at least six times,” he said.

“The amount of garbage that they found in these emails, of criminal activity by Hillary, by her immediate circle, and even by other Democratic members of Congress was so disgusting they gave it to the FBI, and they said, ‘We’re going to go public with this if you don’t reopen the investigation and you don’t do the right thing with timely indictments,’” Prince explained.

Note that word disgusting and consider that those who are disgusted are members of NYPD, some of the most hardened dicks in the world, investigators who have seen every form of human perversion and criminality the mind can imagine. And they were disgusted by what that computer contains about the Clintons and their cronies.

    Breitbart goes on:

“There is all kinds of criminal culpability through all the emails they’ve seen of that 650,000, including money laundering, underage sex, pay-for-play, and, of course, plenty of proof of inappropriate handling, sending/receiving of classified information, up to SAP level Special Access Programs,” he stated.

“So the plot thickens. NYPD was pushing because, as an article quoted one of the chiefs – that’s the level just below commissioner – he said as a parent, as a father with daughters, he could not let that level of evil continue,” Prince said.

“That level of evil”? That a chief of the NYPD uses the descriptive evil rather than criminal should speak worlds as to just what the Clinton’s really are – lawless and immoral predators, as so many of us have been insisting for years. But according to Prince, his NYPD sources say they have faced nothing but obstruction from the federal Justice Department, which is easy to believe when you consider that sources within the FBI have been saying the same thing.

And that, folks, is reason enough to vote against this evil criminal enterprise the Clintons have constructed. If Hillary gains control of the Justice Department, all her evildoing and criminality will be swept under the rug of history. We must follow the example of the NYPD and not let that happen.

  • William Safire justified: Hillary Clinton is a congenital liar

In a notorious 1996 New York Times essay, pundit William Safire famously said this of Hillary Clinton:

Americans of all political persuasions are coming to the sad realization that our First Lady – a woman of undoubted talents who was a role model for many in her generation – is a congenital liar.

Drip by drip, like Whitewater torture, the case is being made that she is compelled to mislead, and to ensnare her subordinates and friends in a web of deceit.

Could anyone who has followed her political activities since make any sensible rebuttal to Safire’s observation? As many of her critics have noted, Hillary Clinton will lie when she’d be far better served by the truth. Now here we are just days away from an election that could put this woman into the most powerful political position in the world, and apparently she’s still at it.

Conservative site, 100% Fed Up, is reporting this (emphasis added):

Campaigning in Florida on Tuesday, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton claimed that she was in New York City on 9/11, when terrorists flew planes into the World Trade Center. She made her claim while discussing terrorism and the threat posed by ISIS.”I know what happened not far from here at Pulse night club in Orlando,” she said. “I was in New York City on 9/11 as one of the two senators. I will defeat ISIS. I will protect America.”

Except that she wasn’t in New York City on 9/11; she was at her home in Washington, D.C. on the morning of that day of infamy and did not get to New York until the next day. Proof of her silly, useless lie is available from her own campaign media operation, the Clinton News Network, which in a 15-year commemoration of 9/11 featuring Clinton said this:

When news broke of the first plane ripping through the north tower of the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11, Clinton had just left her house in Washington, D.C., and was on her way to the Senate. By the time she reached Capitol Hill, evacuations were already underway.

Good grief! The woman is running for the nation’s highest office, and mere days before the election, she gratuitously lies to a crowd of supporters? Even the most naive political beginner would know that you don’t publicly lie about something that can be so easily checked. Had Hillary not been lying for so long, as Safire documents, we might attribute such a gaffe to the various head injuries she’s sustained or as a mental manifestation of the Parkinson’s disease some physicians suspect her to have. But no, her previous history all the way back to pre-Safire argues persuasively that this is one of those people whom many of us have met, and most of us have heard of, a person who simply can’t sort out truth from lies in her own mind and her own mouth. She will, in clear fact, lie when the truth would be to her advantage, as in Florida Tuesday.

Hillary Clinton is, quite clearly, a congenital liar. But here’s the sobering thought to take away from this: if she can’t separate truth from lies, is she also incapable of distinguishing between honest and dishonest behavior? Her behavior as secretary of state would seem to indicate the answer is no, she can’t.

And I ask you again today, folks: is this the kind of person we want leading our America?

  • It’s Finally Next Year

Or in the words of the late great Harry Caray, “Holy Cow! Cubs Win! Cubs Win! Cubs Win!”

In 1965, I was transplanted into Chicago from Southern West Virginia. It was quite a shock to my system, but as youngsters are prone to do I latched on to something familiar. Baseball. On most summer afternoons, if I was at home, there was a Cubs game on WGN. There were no lights at Wrigley Field so every game was an afternoon game. I went to my first professional baseball game at Wrigley and was there some late spring days when I should have been in school. Wrigley was then and even now with modernization, America’s best ball park. All it takes is one visit to fall in love with the place. From a fan perspective, there are no bad seats. In my day, the center field bleacher bums wore yellow batting helmets or construction helmets and throwing back opposing team homerun balls became a tradition that is not optional. Not adhering to that bit of Wrigley lore could end up bad for you. I always compare Wrigley that to the game I took my son to at Atlanta’s old Fulton County Stadium. Sitting there way up in the nosebleed seats, it was tough to keep up with the little tiny people playing the game. There simply was no comparison to Wrigley’s “friendly confines.”

I was watching the game on television when Ernie Banks hit home run number 500. Just as plain as ever I still recall Cub’s announcer Jack Brickhouse and his trademark “Back! Back! Hey-Hey!” as the ball left the park. I remember Ron Santo running across the outfield clicking his heels together every time the Cubs won. I remember Leo Durocher showing the umpire the shoe polish on a baseball to prove a player was hit by the pitch and that was certainly one of his more congenial umpire visits. This was the days of leather cleats and chewing tobacco and no play reviews. I remember the players in the Cubs dugout throwing a ball attached to a string on top of the dugout and pulling it back just before one of the kids could grab it. I remember the team recording a song, “Hey Hey holy mackerel the Chicago Cubs are on the way,” Just before “Tom Terrific” Seaver and the “Miracle Mets” wiped out a 13 game Cub’s lead to go on and win the pennant and the World Series.

I have been a Cubs fan ever since. Since 1969, I have also hated the Mets. Following last season’s National League Championship Series (NLCS), I wondered which I hated most the doggonned goat or the Mets. It is the Mets.

Throughout the NLCS and the World Series, I mostly heard about the greatness of the opposing pitchers. Joe Buck, one of my favorite sports announcers by the way, clearly had a man crush on Dodger’s pitcher Kershaw which he transferred to Cleveland’s Kubler and Miller. It was obvious, whenever a game tightened, that the announcers and the pre-game crew were on the verge of declaring same old see you next year Cubs. The announcers were not rooting for the other teams, but you could sense what they thought. Or it was likely just my own insecurity and the doubt I kept beating back except that Buck certainly did have that man crush. The Cubs just proved that great pitchers simply cannot dominate great hitting on their second or third visit.

As good as this Cubs team has been all year, I cannot say honestly that Russell to Baez to Rizzo is any better than Kessinger to Beckert to Hickman. I do not think that Bryant is a better at third than Santo. I do not believe Lester or Arietta are any better than Fergie Jenkins, who could also hit homeruns, or Milt Pappas and as steady as is Hendricks, he ain’t no Greg Maddox – yet. And today’s Cubs have no better long ball hitter than Ernie Banks – at least not yet. But I can tell you what I do know. Ron Santo was clicking his heels running toward center field last night and Ernie Banks with that big ol’ friendly smile is saying, “Let’s play three today.”

I believe I am going to go order my World Series Champions cap, and probably a sweat shirt or two. Probably drag out my Son’s twenty thousand or so baseball cards and day dream some today. Maybe I will ponder the world for a bit and remind myself there is nothing more American that baseball, nothing more exciting than a seven game World Series, and there is still a place where we can all come together and forget our problems for awhile.

Thank you Cubs. I took you 50 years from when I first became a fan, but it was worth the wait.
