  • I will bless those who bless you

    Views concerning Israel and Jews vary from person to person, culture to culture, country to country and most certainly religion to religion. My view is the Biblical one. If it ever comes down to choosing, it will be my choice to stand with Israel and defend along with Jews and Christians, our kindred faiths and shared holy land. This is a centuries old battle driven by forces and a level of pure hatred men cannot begin to comprehend. It is a war, as foretold in scripture, where the world stands aligned against Israel and now most interestingly displayed for us at the United Nations. In the Bible, there is no mention of a United States of America. There exists no accepted Biblical interpretation that I know of that identifies an entity recognized as the USA. Biblically the USA does not exist. Is it remarkable then that in the United Nations vote condemning Israel that the United States of America was silent – non-existent? If you are Christian, you are Biblically bound to Israel. Ultimately it is the people, not countries or tyrants, who will ultimately choose where to make their stand.

    The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

    “I will make you into a great nation,
    and I will bless you;
    I will make your name great,
    and you will be a blessing.
    I will bless those who bless you,
    and whoever curses you I will curse;
    and all peoples on earth
    will be blessed through you.” Genesis 12:1-3

    In my life, never have I seen a man who has laid bare his soul like Barack Obama. He has peeled back all layers of the facade fully exposing the true man inside. He began his flirtation with gullible Americans by declaring there is only one America, “a red, white and blue” America. Then he proceeded to divide our country so much one would have to search the pre-civil war era to find anything comparable. He declared his “Christian” faith countless times only later to mock scripture. Since there has been no election on the horizon, he has not even tried to fake it. Only God knows a person’s heart for certain, but actions are the language that usually defines what is in a man’s heart. He also, up until after his re-election, declared his support for Israel. However, his actions never supported that declaration either. I do not believe he sets much store in God’s covenant with Abraham. Someday he will have to answer up. In his actions, he has been no more faithful to Christians than he has to the Jews. For him, that leaves but few “faith” options.

    It was a cowardly act waiting until the final days of a failed presidency to turn his back on Israel. When your foreign policy sets the Middle East ablaze and increases the breadth and width of Islamic terrorism, what else is left except to set them all against Israel and ultimately the USA? It is disdain magnified by an administration filled by members of the Muslim Brotherhood, bringing willy nilly Middle East “refugees” into the country, and opening our borders to all comers. This president will certainly have a legacy as will both of his Secretaries of State, one a power and money hungry hustler the other a life-long demonstrated anti-American who has now solidified his anti Israel world view by declaring in his speech, “Israel can either be Jewish or democratic, it cannot be both.” I do believe Israel is a democracy not a theocracy

    Years will pass undoing the damage done by this president and his minions to our country, the entirety of the Middle East and much of the world. As a nation we are weaker than anytime I can recall – in my lifetime. That makes it our most vulnerable and dangerous time. We better be on the side of God.

  • Colonel Robert Rice Sentenced

    Colonel Robert Rice Sentenced

    Colonel Robert Rice

    Fox News reports that 59-year-old Colonel Robert Rice was sentenced to 12 years for receipt and distribution of inappropriate pictures of children with his computer.

    Rice, who has spent 37 years in the military, was most recently assigned to the U.S. Army War College’s Center for Strategic Leadership in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He was arrested in 2013.

    He said he took “full responsibility” and had brought discredit upon the Army. He apologized to the Army, his family members, his friends and investigators.

    Conner said Rice’s criminal activity became known because of software that had been installed on one of his computers.

    The article recounts his incessant yammering about how sorry he is that he got caught, how his wife suffered, not to mention the victims – the actual children whose images he traded. Scum-sucking pig. No one reaches that rank and that age without knowing how they contribute to a crime by taking any ancillary part in it. According to an earlier story, he was arrested for 120 counts of possessing those inappropriate pictures.

  • Losing an American Treasure

    American journalism – and in particular, conservative commentary – has lost a true treasure and an intellectual giant.

    Thomas Sowell:  “My Farewell Column”

    Thanks for all you’ve written over the years – both your commentary, and your books and other academic works.  Thanks as well for the insight and truth those works have contained.

    Enjoy your well earned retirement, Dr. Sowell.  At age 86, you’ve certainly earned that.  Best wishes.

    And to paraphrase a man named Rudyard:  “Yer a better man than I am, Dr. S.”

    Niloofar Rahmani seeks asylum

    Niloofar_Rahmani

    An Afghan pilot, Niloofar Rahmani, who has been featured in interviews in the international press as the face of Afghanistan’s future – a female Air Force pilot – applied for asylum in the United States out of fear for her safety. From Reuters;

    A recipient of the U.S. State Department’s “Women of Courage” award in 2015, Capt. Rahmani had been a symbol of efforts to improve the situation of women in her country, more than a decade after the fall of the Taliban regime.

    Mohammad Radmanish, a defense ministry spokesman, said the government hoped that her request would be denied by U.S. authorities who have spent billions trying to build up Afghan security forces.

    I guess she had just completed an 18-month course in the US at great cost to the US and Afghanistan, and now she doesn’t want to return to the country she promised to defend. She must have understood the risks when she began. They should really stop bringing those guys here to train – they don’t want to leave.

  • A feel-good treat in TAH’s Christmas stocking

    Like many of you, when I first heard of Donald Trump’s choice for secretary of state, I was a bit uneasy. I’m a capitalist, to be sure, but I’ve always tempered my enthusiasm for the principle with a strong sense of distrust of those who rise to its highest levels of leadership for the simple reason that common sense will tell you that you have to be a bit of a shark to survive the process. So when Donald announced that his SecState will be the CEO of one of the largest corporations on the planet, my antennae began to quiver.

    Now, just in time to add some harmony to our holidays, comes this recounting, originally published in the Dallas Morning News, from Texas small business owner Emily Roden, published on Christmas Eve by The Daily Caller, of her service as a juror for a criminal trial in North Texas several years ago. A fellow juror was a tall, distinguished, silver-haired gentleman with an aura of command about him. For that, his fellow jurors wanted him to serve as foreman, but he demurred, indicating he’d be satisfied simply to serve as one of the jury. It was about then that the other jurors discovered that the fellow, who looked as though he could have played a wealthy oilman on Dallas, was, in fact, just that: a wealthy oilman from Dallas. He was Rex Tillerson, CEO of ExxonMobil.

    What Ms. Roden – who, by the way, did not vote for Trump – goes on to recount about Mr. Tillerson and his impact on seeing that justice was done by that undecided jury makes for a very nice, warm, fuzzy read for Christmas Day. I won’t steal anyone’s thunder by revealing the Christmas treat here, but I think if you click in there and read Roden’s account, you will not only feel better about Donald Trump’s selection, but maybe even feel better about the world around you for a bit. May this make your Christmas better – it did mine.

    Merry Christmas, all y’all!

  • Perfect stocking stuffer for libs

    Perfect stocking stuffer for libs

    All of you here at TAH likely have younger family members who were caught up in the swamp fevered idea of electing the nation’s first woman president and are now totally crushed because they had such a horrible candidate who failed so badly just because of those nasty Russians. They are hurting ever so much; tender psyches are twisted into aching knots because these precious snowflakes didn’t even get a participation trophy in spite of their blind support for America’s first presidential candidate to be under an active federal criminal investigation during the campaign.

    But fear not faithful readers because Santa has sent ol’ Poe a last minute email suggesting the absolutely perfect stocking stuffer for our little butt-hurt darlings:

    Butt Hurt

    Santa is guaranteeing overnight delivery to any special snowflake you wish to offer some relief. C’mon, haul out those wallets and send those sweeties some serious salve-ation in the spirit of the season. (See what ol’ Poe did there?) And yes, according to Santa, it is available in case lots, packaged 144 tins to a case, for those serious buyers like W2, who has previously expressed a sincere concern for folks who are butt-hurt.

    Ol’ Poe wants to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have put up with his rants for another year and to wish you a Merry Christmas. (Can we say that again, Jonn?)

  • CBO recommends ending “concurrent receipt”

    Military Times reports that the Congressional Budget Office is back on their concurrent receipt crying jag. They opposed the plan that would let disabled veterans who also retired to collect both their retirement and their disability pay. Before 2003, retirees had their retirement pay reduced by the amount of their VA disability which was returned to them through the VA – basically veterans funded their own disability compensation.

    In its argument for eliminating concurrent receipt, the GAO states, “Disabled veterans would no longer be compensated twice for their service, reflecting the reasoning underlying the creation of the VA offset. However, military retirees who receive VA disability payments would still receive higher after-tax payments than would non-disabled retirees who have the same retirement annuity because VA disability benefits are not taxed.”

    Actually, it’s not compensating them twice – it’s compensating them for completion of 20 years of service and then again for being disabled at more than 50% and unable to work. It’s two different things. I can only imagine how hard the feds would land on an employer who tried the same thing in the private sector.

    Isn’t it odd that all of the government’s plans to save money have something to do with screwing active duty and retired troops?
