  • Randy Scott; phony POW

    Randy Scott; phony POW

    Someone sent us a link to an article from the Journal Online which reports on an entry in the Elk Grove, Illinois’ Township newsletter (link to a .pdf) in which they profiled a regular citizen, Randy Scott;

    Randy Scott has been a resident of Des Plaines for over 32 years. Having served in the Army Special Forces (Green Beret) from 1967-1969 and spending 4 months as a POW, Randy admits that he “went through hell and lived through it.”

    Well the Journal Online says the town supervisor, Mike Sweeney has issued an apology for “factual inaccuracies” in the news letter (emphasis is mine);

    “I was extremely troubled when the township received multiple calls from individuals that questioned the validity of Randy Scott’s statements,” said Sweeney. “These claims were taken very seriously and when confronted, Mr. Scott admitted that the account of his military service was patently false.

    Sweeney said he attempted to access military databases to confirm Scott’s account when questions arose. But without detailed identifying information, he was unable to so and confronted Scott directly.

    Sweeney said members of Scott’s family told him Scott was in the military, but left after being injured in basic training. Sweeney said he had no way of confirming or denying the validity of those statements.

    The DPAA doesn’t list anyone with the last name of Scott from the Army on their list of “accounted for” POWs of the Vietnam years.

    We’ve requested a FOIA for his records, but it’s not looking good for Mr. Scott.

    What really sucks is that the article wasn’t about military service, it was about the good things that Mr. Scott did for his community. For some idiotic reason, he had to fabricate a war story instead of just being proud of what he does to improve the lives of people in his home town.

    I just don’t get it.

  • Gregory Jackson; Fake Navy SEAL and Vietnam Veteran

    Gregory Jackson; Fake Navy SEAL and Vietnam Veteran

    Gregory Jackson has been making claims of being a Navy SEAL Second Class Petty Officer while he served in the Vietnam.  I will just let Gregory tell you about his experiences in his own words.

    You can enjoy the rest of his claims HERE   It seems that a few Navy SEALS over at militaryphony.com decided they should order his records because he does not appear in the list of those for BUD/s class 088.

    It seems that the Navy has no idea what he is talking about.  After enduring a little over 9 months as an E-1, he was sent home.  No UDT/SEAL training and he never served in Vietnam.  What was particularly repugnant to many in the SEAL community was his claiming to be a fellow Navy SEAL in a group that was mourning the recent loss of one of their own,  Senior Chief Special Warfare Operator William R. “Ryan” Owens.

    A word to posers…Don’t ever, never, ever, ever try a stunt like that.  It will never end well.

  • Richard Dickinson; Fake Navy SEAL

    Richard Dickinson; Fake Navy SEAL

    Richard Dickinson has been making claims of being a Navy SEAL for some time now.  The people at militaryphony.com send us their case on this guy.

    He ran a web site called  ‘Soldiers of Life’ which seemed to be an odd name for someone who was a Navy SEAL.  He was living in The Netherlands where he operated an International Security Company.

    He likes to do youtube videos and promote himself as a Navy SEAL.  You can see the entire case on Richard Dickinson HERE.  It seems he was confronted about his nonsense in the past but doubled down on stupid.  Apparently it is the will of Allah for him to be exposed…this time in a very public way.

    His records were ordered by FOIA.

    Turns out that Dick spent some time in the Air Force and rocketed all the way to Airman.  Seemed odd for an Air Force veteran to be claiming Navy SEAL so they checked the manpower database just to be sure.

    No combat history of any kind, no SEAL training, and instead of being retired from the military it seems they got tired of him after about three and a half years.  He should have been proud of serving when most chose not to.

  • Robert Kelso; phony Canadian Ranger

    Robert Kelso; phony Canadian Ranger

    Our friends at Stolen Valour-Canada send us their work on this fellow Robert Kelso who was fined earlier this year;

    During the sentencing, Crown attorney Jody McNeill spoke about Kelso’s service, stating he was released in 1998 and there was no indication Kelso had earned the badges he was wearing.

    Kelso, who represented himself, said he was asked to attend the event in uniform, therefore believing he had proper authorization to do so.

    He apologized for not ensuring that and said he feels deep regret for bringing disrespect on the uniform.

    “I feel absolute disgrace with myself for doing what I did and I offer my most humble apologies to anyone of the Canadian Forces that are still serving and who have served.”

    He claimed that he was a medic and that he was US Army Ranger qualified. He was, in fact, a cook in the Reserves. He claimed that he had served in the Gulf War which wasn’t true;

  • Ryan Patrick Morris, phony soldier, sentenced again

    Ryan Patrick Morris, phony soldier, sentenced again

    Last year we talked about Ryan Patrick Morris who tried to mitigate a burglary charge with tales of his military service to the judge. From the Great Falls Tribune;

    Morris during this case was also punished for pretending to be a former military member, a federal crime. In his first court appearance in May, Morris reportedly told the court he was a veteran and reiterated his past at a September hearing, saying he had completed seven combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Court records also show Morris reported suffering from combat-related post-traumatic stress disorder and had a hip replacement after suffering injuries from an improvised explosive device. He also told the court he was on the outreach team administered by Great Falls Mayor Bob Kelly for homeless veterans.

    Morris’ father later called a Veterans Court coordinator in October, after Morris had begun the enrollment process, to reveal that Morris had never served in the military, despite several attempts to enlist.

    The judge had sentenced him to serve 30 days in jail, pay a $500 fine and serve 441 hours of community services for each of the 441 Montanans who died during their military service since the Korean War. Well he finally was sentenced this week for the burglary charge;

    Ryan Patrick Morris was given a three-year deferred sentence Wednesday and ordered to pay $1,231 restitution to the victim of his burglary.

  • Jeffrey Davis; Phony Navy SEAL and pilot

    Jeffrey Davis; Phony Navy SEAL and pilot

    Someone sent us their work on this Jeffrey Davis fellow who claims to be a former Navy SEAL intelligence officer and a former Navy pilot.

    To prove his stories, he has pictures of himself in uniform like this one;

    It’s actually a photoshop from a picture of Navy SEAL Cdr. Job W. Price, 42, of Pottstown, Pa who tragically lost his life in an apparent suicide while he was deployed to Afghanistan;

    And then there’s this one, a photoshop from a picture of Alex O’Loughlin, an actor on Hawaii Five-O who plays a former Navy SEAL in the role;

    In regards to Mr Davis, the Navy says “Who?”

    He was otherwise occupied and thus unable to join the military. This isn’t photoshopped;

  • John Deal; embellishing corpsman

    John Deal; embellishing corpsman

    On January 29, 1991, Saddam Hussein tried to start the ground war on the Saudi Arabian border with Kuwait when he sent three armored columns towards Kafji, Saudi Arabia. On their way to the evacuated resort town, they bumped into a battalion-sized Light Armored Infantry (LAI) element of the 1st Marine Division at Um Hjul who called the place OP-4. The small Marine force held back the 5 battalions of Iraqi armor and infantry with the help of allied air forces. 3 C-130 gunships, four A-10s, two F16s and two F-15Es arrived on station to stop the Iraqi advance. However, the engagement wasn’t without tragedy on the side of the Marines. Two Light Armored Vehicles (LAVs) were destroyed and 11 Marines lost their lives in two “friendly fire” incidents. One LAV was struck by friendly surface fire, the other by a malfunctioning Maverick missile fired by an A-10.

    As it happens with men who have a shared experience, the Marines of Op-2, Op-4 and Op-6 maintained close contact through the years. This fellow John Deal infiltrated their ranks claiming that he had been there that night and had narrowly escaped being killed. He claimed friendships with many of the deceased. He took advantage of that kinsmanship by bumming money from the Marines using heart-breaking stories of infirmed children and missed child support payments, which eventually added up to thousands of dollars and probably bought his motorcycle.

    Some of the Marines began doubting his stories and further investigated Deal’s past. He had been a Navy corpsman who served with a Fleet Marine Force and he had served in Desert Storm, but he wasn’t at any of the OPs which had been engaged during the battle at Kafji;

    Notice that there is no Combat Action Ribbon even though there is a Southwest Asia Service Medal.

    He did come clean in this video;

    But according to some Marines, he’s back at being a bum and telling stories about his service in the Battle of Kafji. The Marines of Kafji want you to know that John Deal wasn’t there with them.
