  • Jimmy Banks; phony Green Beret

    Jimmy Banks; phony Green Beret

    Our partners at Green Beret Posers Exposed shared their work on this Jimmy Banks fellow who is inclined to pretend to be a special forces soldier;

    From his records, it looks like he didn’t even make it to basic training;

    I think he enlisted for the Reserves in December then he never bothered to show up again and they just cut him loose in May. The reserve unit probably dodged a bullet- but he’s not special forces trained, he’s not even basic training trained.

  • Rowdy Dwayne Hall, phony Green Beret

    Rowdy Dwayne Hall, phony Green Beret

    The folks at Professional Soldiers send us their work on this Rowdy Dwayne Hall who claims in his advertisements for his ninja school that he’s a Green Beret;

    At his website, he claims;

    Prior to joining law enforcement, Professor Hall served in the United States Army’s 1st/75thAirborne Rangers, then later joined the 10th Special Forces Group.

    Same thing at another website;

    Well, yeah he was in the Army;

    The Army got tired of him after 27 months of service. He was stationed with the 2d Armored Division in Garlstedt Germany for a year, then they sent him south for a few months in the 3rd Armored Division and then put him out on the street;

    He left after 27 months as a Private First Class (E-3) no airborne training, no special forces training, just a Ratelo (Radio Telephone Operator) Radio Teletype Operator not that there’s anything wrong with that. Unless you’re trying to be something you weren’t.

    Added: Ho-hum;

  • Vernon Sperry; phony Korean War veteran

    Vernon Sperry; phony Korean War veteran

    Someone was curious about this fellow, Vernon Sperry when he started telling tall tales about how he single-handedly drove the Chinese back above the 38th Parallel, or words to that affect. He even told his stories to the local news, back in 2009;

    He calls himself “The Colonel” and claims that he was awarded five Purple Heart Medals and that he will be awarded the Medal of Honor some day. He shows folks this DD214;

    He claims these awards;

    Yeah, I don’t know what half of those things are either. Most of them aren’t even individual awards, the French Fourragère hasn’t been awarded to US Marines since the First World War.

    Well, it turns out that Mr Sperry didn’t join the Marine Corps until a year after the Korean War ended, and it looks like he was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California the whole time he was in the Marine Corps. He was an infantryman most of the time except when he had guard duties at the brig.

    Sperry may have been blowed up a little on April 18, 1955 when an artillery round hit a messhall on Pendleton. His records show that he was in the hospital for a few weeks beginning April 19th – no Purple Hearts are awarded for action in the messhall in California, though;

    Here’s a poem he wrote about his five Purple Hearts;

    Big thanks to Bulldog at Guardian of Valor for putting a rush on this FOIA for us.

  • Peter Pasanen; another Canadian phony

    Peter Pasanen; another Canadian phony

    Our friends at Stolen Valour-Canada tell the story of Peter Pasanen;

    Mister Peter PASANEN of Burnaby, BC

    Pasanen was a member of both the 1st and 2nd Bns of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry and a Cold War veteran who earned the Special Service Medal (NATO).

    Then he makes the decision to embellish his career narrative!

    He has absolutely no service with the US Army in Vietnam and no lawful entitlement to the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart & the Combat Infantry Badge…

    Dude, WTF?

  • Mike Jolly; part II

    Mike Jolly; part II

    Last week we talked about Mike Jolly the martial arts instructor who used to brag that he was a Marine. We heard that he had also been in the Air Force, but he had walked away from the job. Well, it turns out that’s true. He walked away from the Air Force just three days after 9-11-2001;

    At least he’d finished basic training in the Air Force, but three days after 9-11. I’m sure it was just a coincidence.

  • Jan Spann resigns from school board

    Jan Spann resigns from school board

    In case you haven’t been following the drama in the Jan Spann post, the Riverside, California Press-Enterprise reports that phony Vietnam veteran and Banning, California school board member, Janis Spann will resign from her position after she was exposed on TAH last week.

    Spann wrote in an email to The Press-Enterprise on Monday, July 24, that she doesn’t want the controversy to affect Banning schools.

    “I will resign from the school board as this is only going to get nastier, and I do not want to impede the board’s work with unnecessary antics,” she wrote. “I will further resign from numerous committees I serve on for the same reason. I will not let others possibly suffer by having my name attached to their work.”

    However, Spann said her resignation was not an admission of guilt.

    What would really be “not an admission of guilt” is a DD214 proving her service, but then she couldn’t be a martyr.

    Last week, Navy veteran, Diane Box called for Spann’s resignation at a school board meeting;

    “I know my decision not to fight is only going to bring me incredible pain, but I will not be bullied,” [Spann] wrote.

    Spann’s martyrdom continues in the Banning Record Gazette;

    “I will resign from the school board, as this will only get nastier,” she stated in an e-mail, “and I do not want to impede the board’s work with unnecessary antics.”

    Further, she said “I will resign from numerous committees I serve on for the same reason. I will not let others possibly suffer by having their name attached to my work.”

    Spann feels that she is being “bullied” by members of the public, leading to her decision.

    Yeah, she wouldn’t have to fight – all she needs to do is show her DD214 or admit that she’s been lying all of these years.

    To review the evidence against Ms. Spann;

    She…claims to have been a registered nurse in Vietnam for two tours from 1968-1971. The second screen shot is from an article about her and her book.

    Well the problem is that the California State University of Long Beach says she was in college during those years;

    And the Army says that they’ve never heard of her;

  • John Scott; phony SEAL

    John Scott; phony SEAL

    Someone on Capitol Hill got suspicious about this fellow, John Scott of Inwood, West Virginia (about halfway between Winchester, VA and Martinsburg, WV). Apparently, he’s been telling tall tales of his derring-do in the halls of Congress and someone didn’t like it. He claims that he earned a Purple Heart in Kosovo, that he was a sniper and suffers from PTSD, according to folks;

    The Navy says “Who?”

  • Mark Tarbox; phony SEAL

    Mark Tarbox; phony SEAL

    This fellow, Mark Ellis Tarbox, has been parading around Mount Pleasant, North Carolina dressed like this for the last several years. Here’s the latest photo of him attending his church in his weekly parade;

    We’ve been looking for him for years since this picture hit the internet a few years ago;

    Well, Don Shipley says that he’s not a SEAL and that Tarbox is probably hoping that someone mistakes him for real SEAL the Legendary Captain Thomas Tarbox.

    The Navy remembers their brief time with Mark Tarbox;

    He spent 48 weeks in the Navy and left as a Seaman Recruit (in the grade of E-1). He had a longer career as a guest of the State of Florida;
