  • Jan Spann; phony Vietnam vet blames PTSD

    Jan Spann; phony Vietnam vet blames PTSD

    In July, we busted Jan Spann, a member of the Banning, California School Board, for pretending she was a nurse in Vietnam. For the time period that she claimed to be in Vietnam, Spann was actually in college.

    Well, local journalists uncovered an email Spann sent to the school board for an anger issue she had three years ago. Of course, she blamed her PTSD from her fake Vietnam service for the episode to gain sympathy from her peers;

    She says that she was left behind with some patients on a hot LZ – I’m sorry, but no one would leave a nurse alone in Indian country.

    Ms Spann is turning into one of the worst shitbag phonies we’ve ever had.

  • William Lunsford; phony soldier

    William Lunsford; phony soldier

    The folks at Military Phonies send us their work on this fellow, William Lunsford who claimed to them that he was assigned to train Navy SEALs in hand-to-hand combat from his Army assignment, and he was made an “honorary Honorary Lieutenant Commander” from his Army rank of Sergeant E-5.

    So, the folks at Military Phonies got his FOIA. According to Army records, he spent four months at Fort Knox to be a 19E tank crewman (M48/M60 series tanks). And then he was out on the street;

    So when Military Phonies confronted him about his records, Lunsford told them that he was a secret squirrel instructor;

    Yeah, fat chance, junior. That story might work with people whose only experience in the military comes from Hollywood, but don’t try it with veterans. Goober.

  • Sean Michael Moore; phony SF

    Sean Michael Moore; phony SF

    Our partners at Professional Soldiers share thier work on this fellow Sean Michael Moore who works with Force Blue which claim that they are;

    [T]he ONLY non-profit in the world specifically created to aid former combat divers and Special Operations veterans in their assimilation back to civilian life by giving them a new, positive mission to help the planet. By helping Special Ops veterans adapt their military skills to civilian life by giving them a new mission, they will again have a purpose which may reduce the rate of suicide.

    Six Special Ops veterans of the Iraq/Afghanistan wars, will be deployed soon to be taught how to adapt their military skills to rebuild and preserve coral reefs off the coast of Grand Cayman. Meet the FORCE BLUE TEAM ONE members.

    In his bio at that page, Moore claims;

    Born in Upstate NY, Sean joined the Army in 2006 and served with the esteemed Army Special Forces (Green Berets) until 2012. During that time he deployed twice to Iraq — once to Kirkuk and again in 2008 to Mosul. During Sean’s deployment to Mosul he was hit with a small roadside IED in a trash pile while dismounting. The blast damaged his knee, and he received various shrapnel wounds. He was also diagnosed with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). From 2008-2011, Sean was in and out of VA care and was diagnosed with PTS. From the TBI he suffered short term memory loss, impulse control, and bi polar like symptoms. In the years since, Sean has managed his issues with the help of his wife Hannah and son. The couple is expecting their second child later in 2017.

    Yeah, no. He was in the Army, but he was a combat engineer at Fort Carson, Colorado, from 2006 – 2011. His discharge says that he had 3 years, 9 months and 22 days in the service, but the math on the DD214 differs. That makes me think that he has bad time for being a deserter. He was recommended for an other than honorable discharge in lieu of a Court Martial;

    No Special Forces training, he’s not even parachutist qualified. He is a veteran of the Iraq War and he has a Combat Action Badge, but it looks like they took it back when he was discharged because it’s not on his DD214;

    His date of rank (E-1) is just a few days before his discharge.

  • Pete Kalamaris; Stolen Valor in the OC

    Pete Kalamaris; Stolen Valor in the OC

    The Orange County Weekly tells the story of Pete Kalamaris who claims to be a Naval Academy grad and a former Navy pilot.

    Before December 2016, Kalamaris is claimed by the OCDA to have applied for and received a high-level paying job with a six-figure salary based on his purported education and military experience.

    On Dec. 6 of that year, he is accused of filing a declaration in a civil case claiming he was wrongfully terminated from his job. Under penalty of perjury, Kalamaris is accused of claiming in court papers of not only being a Naval Academy grad and Desert Storm vet but that he served in the Navy for 22 years, was a fighter pilot, reached the rank of commander and earned an MBA from an esteemed university.

    Further, prosecutors allege, he attached forged copies of Naval Academy transcripts, a bachelor of science degree and photos of himself wearing a Navy uniform and medals of distinction. But he actually did not earn any of those, charges the OCDA, which adds the Naval Academy has no record of Kalamaris ever attending there, let alone graduating.

    That’s brilliant, making false military claims in court testimony and providing the court with forgeries. This guy is a regular rocket surgeon.

    Anyway, he’s facing “two felony counts of perjury, two felony counts of forgery, falsifying documents and impersonating a veteran to defraud.”

    I’m sure the fellas in prison are going to love him, literally.

  • Jason Lang, phony SEAL

    Jason Lang, phony SEAL

    The folks at Military Phonies share their work on Jason Lang with us today. Jason was raised on a farm where he was bred to be a Navy SEAL. Don’t believe me? Well, look at this conversation he had;

    Well, he got so mad that he is now a Waffen SS Nazi, since he can’t be a SEAL on the internet;

    Of course, Jason doesn’t show up in the Navy SEAL database, and, shockingly, the Navy doesn’t have a record of him serving;

  • Timothy Bean, phony SEAL

    Timothy Bean, phony SEAL

    Our partners at Military Phonies send us their work on yet another phony SEAL, Timothy Bean. He doesn’t like talking about being a SEAL, well, except on Facebook;

    But, then when he was busted, turns out that he was wearing a Trident and advising people on how to train to be a SEAL to honor a friend;

    He was a SEABEE, a Steelworker Second Class;

    Eight years of service, three years at sea, but I guess that wasn’t good enough for Facebook. His Facebook profile disappeared last night.

  • Steve P Jeffries; phony SEAL, phony Vietnam vet

    Steve P Jeffries; phony SEAL, phony Vietnam vet

    Our partners at Military Phonies share their work on this Steve Jeffries in Fresno, California, who claims to have been a Navy SEAL in Vietnam with a Navy Cross, 2 Purple Hearts, and 120 kills as a sniper;

    Yeah, no. The Navy only remembers giving him the National Defense Service Medal, they do remember his six years of service from 1972 – 1978 and his discharge as an E-1.

  • Ronald Lee Paul; Phony POW, phony Special Forces

    Ronald Lee Paul; Phony POW, phony Special Forces

    We wrote about this Ronald Lee Paul of Troy, NY about four years ago when Scottie and his crew caught him with POW plates;

    Looking at the picture at the top of the post, he has upped his game to become a special forces veteran of Vietnam. Folks are telling us that he still claims to be a POW of the Vietnam War – he can’t eat rice because it gives him flashbacks to his POW days.

    Yeah, no. He was a prisoner, alright, as a deserter. He was in the Army for 16 months, February, 1964 – June 1965, five months of which, August, 1964 – January, 1965, he was a deserter. He sat in jail from January to June 1965 when he was discharged;
