  • Phonies’ fear

    The wife of William Joseph Trumpower, who we profiled when he stood on the stage with DICK Blumenthal to show support for the lying turd has been circulating an email of an article from “Veterans Today” , the hiding place of Gordon Duff.

    The email from an article written by Jere Beery (pictured above in his phony finery), whose bio sets off warning bells, charges that our friends at POW Network are targeting PTSD Veterans.

    There is currently a group of self-appointed “government agents” targeting veterans receiving disability compensation from the VA. Their objective is to locate and prosecute disabled veterans that are receiving VA disability compensation that they are not entitled to. Their main focus is on veterans with a PTSD rating. They claim that the VA healthcare system is being bilked dry by phony PTSD claims. However, they cannot provide data to support their outrageous accusations. They operate with the full support and cooperation of the VA Inspector General’s office and other major law enforcement agencies. According to Chuck and Mary Schantag of Skidmore, Missouri and owners of the POW Network, they have friends within the VA and DOD that will provide them with any personal information on a veteran they are investigating.

    I wish that were true. There are hundreds of Gulf War I veterans who claim they were POWs and get treated as such by the VA, but there were only a handful of POWs from Desert Storm. If the DVA were cooperating with POW Network, they’d release the names of all of the people getting benefits from the DVA as POWs so Mary and Chuck could weed out the phonies and save DVA a ton of money. That’s not happening, though.

    I’ve also had Mary and Chuck warn me about subjects they thought were suffering from PTSD – they go out of their way to protect veterans. You really have to read every word of this email to read that the author Jere Beery has an axe to grind since POW Network conducted an investigation into his background. He filed charges against the Schantags with the DVA OIG, which exhonerated POW Net of any wrong-doing. So then Beery takes aim at Larry Bailey. Beery claims that Captain Bailey is just out to deny veterans their benefits, when Bailey has made it clear that his targets are phonies.

    That makes me think that Beery is a phony since I’ve only seen them work on real phonies. Beery writes;

    It is unknown if the Schantags or anyone else in the group receives anything in return from the VA for the veterans they turn in.

    Then why would you say it, numbnuts? The only people who should be worried about Captain Bailey and the Schantag’s investigations are people who have something to hide. I’m sure they’ve checked on me and I ain’t worried.

  • Blumenthal; Lying face to face

    !stCavRVN11B sent us a link this morning about an under-reported aspect of DICK Blumenthal’s lies about his service. A local newspaper, the New Britain Herald writes about one of Blumenthal’s subordinates in the CT Attorney General’s office, Richard Hine who has worked for Blumenthal for 20 years.

    “This has to do with integrity, has to do with qualifications for office and with a very personal conversation back in January or February, 1991,” he said. Surrounded by the mementos of his own life as a Marine, Hine said what Blumenthal did went against the code of being a Marine.

    Hine said Blumenthal first lied to him about his service record while attorney general as Hine was making preparations for service during Operation Desert Storm, the first Iraq War.

    According to Hine, Blumenthal expressed concern about his family should he be sent to Iraq and made sure he would be available to Hine’s family should they need him.

    “He then said that you as a major would have it easier than I did as an enlisted man in Vietnam,” Hine said, recalling that the conversation that happened in Blumenthal’s office on the seventh floor at 55 Elm St., Hartford. “I knew right there that he was lying.”

    “He was lying to me face to face,” he said, adding that he had heard similar remarks of service in Vietnam at least five times, at least half before September 11, 2001, and half after. “He didn’t misstate, he didn’t misspeak — he lied.”

    Emphasis is mine. And what does that even mean? How does DICK Blumenthal know how difficult Hines’ tour will be? Who talks like that? I could see Jon Soltz saying something like that, though, so I guess DICK Blumenthal is just like Jon Soltz only taller.

    Of course, now that Blumenthal is the defacto nominee of the Democrat Party in Connecticut for Chris Dodd’s Senate seat, the media will leave the little pud alone. I’m kinda hoping that we can get around the New York Time’s sudden silence on this story though.

  • Matthis: Vacation or jail?

    So Matthis is trying to make up his mind whether he should fulfill his obligations or totally blow off jail in favor of a Caribbean vacation in regards to his arrest in Highland Falls during the President’s speech there. Guess which way he’s leaning;

    I called the District Attorney’s Office this morning, but they said the responsibility for Matthis and his community service will fall to the probation department, who won’t have responsibility until the disposition of the case has been determined.

    I hope someone in Orange County, New York is listening so they can hold the local justice officials’ feet to the fire on this. It seems to me that if Matthis leaves the country while under jurisdiction of the case, he could be in serious trouble – federal pound-you-in-the-ass-prison kind of trouble. Sure would hate to see that happen.

  • IVAW Convention at Huston-Tillotson University

    Next month is the annual IVAW Convention. This year it will be held at Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, TX. Here’s what they say about the purpose of their convention;

    All members of Iraq Veterans Against the War are highly encouraged to attend convention. In addition to building relationships with other members, we will be discussing the most important issues facing our GI and veterans movement.

    Members will have a chance to discuss lessons learned, brainstorm innovative ideas, and develop a common orientation towards the goals and strategy of IVAW for the upcoming year.

    Members will also meet with the current board and candidates, elect members for open board positions, review the status of our organization including finances, and participate in active duty outreach at Fort Hood.

    Key allies and supporters are also welcome to attend convention but are responsible for the cost of their own registration and travel arrangements. We are happy to recommend housing accomodations near the convention site.

    Preference for on campus housing is given to members and those with disabilities.

    Sounds like a joyful reunion of all of the folks the military has divested itself of the last few years. If you’d like to call Huston-Tillotson Univ., here’s their phone and fax respectively; Telephone at 512.505.3000, Fax at 512.505.3190.

    Oh, and there’ll be a special guest. I’m not sure if he’s invited or just in town;

    Yes, our favorite derelict and reject from the human race (and frequent troll) Carl Webb plans on crashing the convention. Let’s see to what degree Webb is welcomed. I wonder if the leeches and pedophiles from VFP and Military Families Speak Out will be having their convention at the same place and time this year like last year in College Park to keep the kiddies in (party) line. Since that’s his AO, you can be sure Doug Zachary will be there to raid the coffers at every opportunity.

    Sounds like oodles of fun.

  • That Kirk thing again

    The other day, I wrote about the weak phony soldier case that Wapo was trying to smack Mark Kirk, the Republican running for Obama’s vacated Senate seat, to prove that “everyone does it” – lie about their military service, that is. Today the Associated Press joins in;

    Kirk’s campaign said his official U.S. House website once incorrectly said he was the only member of Congress to serve in the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq that began in 2003. That was changed in 2005 to say that he served “during” the operation.

    Now we’re down to mincing words. So as long as we’re mincing words about military careers, let’s talk about Tim Waltz, Democrat from Minnesota who was brought to our attention before the 2008 election by our buddy Dave Thul.

    Here’s a shot of Walz’ bio on his official site;

    See that last line about serving overseas in Operation Enduring Freedom? Waltz actually served in Italy in support of OEF. Although the error has been pointed out to Waltz and the misperception it causes, he keep his bio written that way. And the Washington Post and the Associated Press ignore it. (Yeah, I know TSO likes Walz…but I don’t)

    Now, I’m not exactly sure what the media is looking at when they look at Kirk, because there are no screen shots and the media claims Kirk changes his web sites when they talk to him, so until the WP and AP master the art of screen shots, it’s difficult to know exactly what they’re talking about. But here’s Tim Walz sitting out there like a barn door-sized target.

  • Jesse MacBeth leads the New World Order

    Jesse MacBeth sent us this link to a BlogTalkRadio link to an interview with some serious doofus who calls himself “Rev J”. Now Rev J must’ve been living under a rock for the past five years because he brought MacBeth on his show to talk about MacBeth’s service and his views on the Iraq War. I listened to the 45 minute broadcast, so you don’t have to;
    (more…)

  • Your imagination is bad for you.

    Considering that it is Memorial Weekend, that one of the things that is a emotional high is coming home on leave. Even getting back home from the tour does not have the same feeling. So even though that this story is a few months old it it worth bringing up.

    Long story short a Solider on leave from Afghanistan managed to ruin that day before he even left the airport.

    SEATTLE – An Army specialist from Fort Lewis is apologizing to his family and community for lying about being injured in Afghanistan, lying about his rank and wearing military honors that he hadn’t earned.

    Spc. Jordan Olson, 22, arrived at Outagamie County Regional Airport in Wisconsin to a hero’s welcome Saturday. Along with Olson’s family, members of the American Legion, VFW and Patriot Guard were waiting to greet him.

    What did he fake exactly?

    According to the Army, Olson:
    # Is a specialist assigned to the 5th Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment, 17th Fires Brigades, not a sergeant as he told The P-C on Saturday. Also, there is no promotion in the works for Olson that would allow him to claim that rank.
    # Was deployed to Afghanistan with his unit last October. His field artillery battery is attached to an engineering unit near Kandahar, where it is conducting route clearance operations.
    # Was not injured in combat.
    # Returned briefly to Joint Base Lewis-McChord before heading to Wisconsin for his leave.
    # Has no reason to wear an 82nd Airborne Division patch. His battalion is not attached to the division.
    # Has not been awarded the Parachutist Badge, according to his military records. Additionally, there is no mention in his records that he attended U.S. Army Airborne School.
    # Has not been authorized to wear the Combat Action Badge.

    When confronted about this his reply was:

    “Just wanted my family to be proud of me and … overstepped some boundaries I shouldn’t have overstepped,” said Olson.

    Olson says he is going to personally apologize to the VFW, American Legion and Patriot Guard. He says he also plans to seek some help.

    “It’s a self-esteem issue. I think I should go see what I can do about getting taken care of myself and having better self-esteem for myself,” said Olson.

    Olson could be prosecuted under the Stolen Valor Act of 2005, which prohibits claiming military honors that were not earned.

    Yea I would like how it would explain this one.

    The local newspaper in his hometown, the Appleton Wisconsin Post Crescent, published some photos from Olson’s return showing him with his mom and a young woman identified as his fiancee.

    Trouble is – he’s got a wife at Fort Lewis.

    Once again major thanks to POW.Network for the story.

  • Army adjusts to operating in phony soldier environment

    1stCavRVN11B sent us this article about Jesse Bernard Johnston, the phony soldier we mentioned last week who used forged documents to join the Army as a sergeant. The Army has decided that they’ll use their own records rather than accept a DD214 discharge an enlistee hands them.

    The Army is instituting a new procedure for checking the backgrounds of enlistees who claim to have a military record after a report that a reservist apparently faked a background as a Marine to enter the service.

    Recruiters can no longer simply accept discharge papers as proof of service, Douglas Smith, public information officer for the Army recruiting command, told The Associated Press on Thursday. They now must also seek to verify the documents through a military database, he said.

    We’ve found falsified DD214s – most notably, Geoff Millard, the president of the board of IVAW who added three Meritorious Medals along with a load of other crap to his DD214. Of course, Jesse MacBeth and his forgery is the most famous (the fake, the real one).

    I’m surprised that the Army isn’t doing this already – but after watching the admin people ignore the usefullness of a computer network at Walter Reed, maybe I’m not all that surprised.
