  • POW.net asking for help with IDing Poser CSM

    Ok, looks like it is that time again, this is new about a week ago that a person was spotted at a VFP event.

    This is what we know about him at this time.

    A man in U.S. army fatigues walked by the crosses, and said he was ‘observing’.

    He asked not to be named for security reasons, but said, ‘All memorials are good. People may get a better understanding of war’.

    The man in fatigues said he had served three months in Afghanistan, but that he was currently serving civilian duty locally.

    According to POW.net someone emailed them concerns about the “Solider” in question and got this reply.

    Hi. Thanks for reading and for writing. Your email is very interesting. I don’t have any more details about the gentleman in question, he wouldn’t give me his name or any other details. He actually did tell me that he was purposefully not wearing proper unit patches in order to keep anonymous. I don’t know if he was telling the truth or not.

    Yea if that is not a major red flag right there. But seeing someone like that and you still have doubts about him being fake?

    Jonn added; The first thing I do when I want to be discrete on the beach is wear an Army uniform with my name tag and dog tags showing;

    Jonn added again: I tried “Danenberg” in AKO and got nuthin’, so I tried Dannenberg and got this;

    None of them are in California.

  • “Rock” Harris fesses up

    Jeff “Rock” Harris who we wrote about here, here, here and here finally admits to the Army Times that he wasn’t in the Ranger Regiment or in Somalia.

    “Obviously, I did some things in the military, but it was nothing like what was in the article, it was my lie, and I don’t even have an explanation,” Harris said. “All I can do is apologize.”

    Harris said he had served in the Army from 1987 to 1996 or 1997, when he was honorably discharged as a sergeant, and that he took part in the Persian Gulf War. He refused to elaborate. Army Times has made an inquiry with the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, but was unable to immediately confirm Harris’ claims.

    Yeah, get in line Army Times, there are a bunch of people who have requested his records.

    [Kinston Free Press reporter Jane] Moon told Army Times that she had trusted Harris. Only since has she learned how widespread stolen valor cases have become.

    “From now on, I’m not going to take anything at face value,” Moon said.

    Been living under a rock, Jane? Just google “stolen valor” and look at the thousands of incidents in recent years.

    Angry people have been lashing Harris directly. He said he has “received a huge amount of hate mail” and that his employer, a local alarm company, has been receiving calls.

    “It’s my own fault, and I’m not criticizing anybody for it, I understand, and I’d rather just put my apology out there,” he said. “Who has an explanation for lying like that? I don’t and I just apologize more than I can say, and the retraction’s coming.”

    Harris also said that his “faith” made him apologize. His faith should have prevented him from lying in the first place. Where’s the statement from his buddy whose life he saved – James Murphy who said he wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for Harris? It seems he’s equally culpable in this farce.

  • 9th Circus gets another opportunity to piss me off

    Couthouse News Serice reports that yet another stolen valor case is going to the 9th Circuit Appeals Court. This one involves David Perelman who convinced the Air Force that he had been wounded during a brief stint in Vietnam in order to get a Purple Heart. He used the award to get benefits from the VA which he didn’t earn and secure an executive position in the Order of the Purple Heart organization.

    This is how his public defender lawyer tried to mitigate her client’s malfeasance;

    “If a person can stand on the corner and falsely proclaim that they are the recipient of a Medal of Honor, why can’t a grieving mother wear a Purple Heart to her son’s funeral?”
    “Is that what your guy is?” Judge Barry Silverman interjected.
    “No, Your Honor,” Shell replied.
    “Your guy is somebody who tried to get veterans’ benefits that he wasn’t entitled to,” Silverman said, in reference to Perelman’s other guilty plea last summer to the theft of government funds for receiving $180,000 in disability benefits from the Veteran’s Administration, where he also worked.
    The federal court in Las Vegas accepted Perelman’s guilty pleas but allowed him to appeal.

    Oh, I forgot to mention that Perelman’s wound was a 1991 self-inflicted gunshot wound.

    Anyway, even though Perelman pleaded guilty, he’ll be appealing his case, somehow. Probably just so his shitbag lawyer can take a few more selfish shots at real soldiers and real heroes.

  • Another politician phony soldier

    Ronnie Robbins was Dickenson County, VA commissioner of revenue until last November when he was arrested and charged with forging military documents and Stolen Valor claims;

    School kids…he lied to elementary school kids and then presented forged documents to the VFW. And of course, he applied to the DVA for benefits to compensate him for PTSD from a non-combat related incident. I guess the Feds piled on since he was investigated by CID, the DVA’s Office of the Inspector General and the FBI. He was found guilty of two counts of forgery, one count of Stolen Valor and one count of mail fraud.

    You’d think that after a while, they’d learn to knock off the shit.

  • More on “Leutenant” Stolen Valor

  • Stolen Valor/Identity (updated)

    It seems like when ever there is a poser, another one tries to out do him. Before we had people steal photos from service members. Now it seems that this person has taken a real photo and pasted his face over it. See below.

    Fake Vet Jhon Kerwin Williams

    The poser in question goes by the name Jhon Kerwin Williams who claims to be a Lt in the 101st (2006-present). Oh he is a pilot too along with another faker by the name Keith Underson.(2005-present) Who also is claiming the same unit, rank and job. Both do not show anything on AKO.

  • “Rock” Harris Update

    Average NCO sends us a link to the latest flailing about from the Kinston free Press on the flailing about Jeff “Rock” Harris. Now he’s provided another DD214 to them through his lawyers. If it can be believed, he was out of the Army by the time the fiasco in Mogadishu happened in October 1993;

    On Thursday, Harris’ lawyer, Josiah J. Corrigan of Kinston’s Perry, Perry & Perry law firm, emailed The Free Press what Corrigan said was Harris’ DD214 form. The form — which has not officially verified — showed that Michael Jeffery Harris served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 26, 1987 through March 12, 1992, leaving the Army as a corporal. The DD214 shows he received an honorable discharge and was separated from the service as part of an early transition program.

    The DD214 provided by Corrigan revealed Harris received several medals in his time of service, including a Bronze Star for Valor, an Army Commendation Medal and an Overseas Service Ribbon.

    Yeah, I’d like to know what he thinks he got a Bronze Star for Valor during that time period. The only conflicts during that period was Panama and Desert Storm and why haven’t either of those been mentioned before?

    In the cover letter from Corrigan addressed to Free Press Managing Editor Bryan Hanks, it states “Mr. Harris retracts any and all claims he made to Ms. (Free Press staff writer Jane) Moon that are not recorded in his official military service record and reflected on his DD-214.”

    The statement concludes, “Mr. Harris apologizes to you and Ms. Moon for any embarrassment or difficulty that this unfortunate incident has caused.”

    Hey, Harris, you didn’t screw Ms. Moon – you screwed us veterans who don’t charge out and tell fairy stories about our careers. Fuck her apology – she screwed herself by doing a half-assed job. Where’s our apology?

  • Requesting assistance and info on Specal Forces Poser.

    Ok it’s that time again with this one being from June of this year from POW.net. We have a William Timothy Dorsch that is claiming to be prior service Marine, joined the Army and Became SF.

    Lets see what what wrong in this photo beside the person in it. We have the CIB, standard poser issue. Purple Heart always a regular. An Army Soldier’s Medal at the very bottom of the stack. Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait Version) is in the top tier. Lets not bring in the jump wings (off centered)or the Cavalry Branch items he is wearing.

    But what is more interesting is what you do not see. Like the missing National Defense Medal(with Service Star for the South West Asian Service medal) or the Army Service Ribbon. The two awards that everyone that has entered the Army since 2001 has received he is missing. But he has a GWOT service medal that states that his imaginary service date that entered 2001.

    So lets get the word out and see if we can add another kill mark to the busted tally.
