  • Protesters face their “Valley Forge moment”

    With an impending early snow storm on the horizon, Occupy Wall STreet protesters across the East Coast are calling it their “Valley Forge moment” hoping they will prove their mettle, according to the Associated Press;

    With the temperature dropping, they are stockpiling donated coats, blankets and scarves, trying to secure cots and military-grade tents, and getting survival tips from the homeless people who have joined their encampments.

    “Everyone’s been calling it our Valley Forge moment,” said Michael McCarthy, a former Navy medic in Providence. “Everybody thought that George Washington couldn’t possibly survive in the Northeast.”

    Yeah, that’s it…you guys are brave, courageous and fearless just like the colonial troops from our revolution. They needed survival tips from drunkards and derelicts, too. I guess you’re not really a bunch of clueles, whining spolled brats at all, what with your donated coats and blankets that you’re actually using instead of the homeless who would normally benefit from the donations.

    But when the hyperbole starts getting thick, you can always count on someone to invoke the troops fighting in the mountains overseas;

    “This is like war. You know, soldiers do it when they occupy a place. I’m sure the mountains of Afghanistan get pretty cold.”

    Yeah, this is just like war…except that no one is shooting at you and wishing that you were dead. ANd no one with the ammo and tools to kill you are pointing their guns at you. In fact, the people with the guns and the ammo are out there to protect you from yourselves. So, yeah, it’s just like war only completely different.

    Thanks to our buddy, Bev Perlman for the link.

  • The real intent of the Occupy Wall Street movement reveals it’s head again.

    So just like in Indianapolis OWS planners in Oakland reviled why the Police has been involved in there protest. Why that this has nothing to do with peaceful decent. It is about shutting down all operations in the cities regardless who it affects.

    “We mean nobody goes to work, nobody goes to school, we shut the city down,” organizer Cat Brooks said. “The only thing they seem to care about is money and they don’t understand that it’s our money they need. We don’t need them, they need us.”

    Also how the former Marine was injured.

    The hospital has confirmed Olsen was hurt during the protest, but could not say how he was wounded. Acting Oakland Police Chief Howard Jordan had told a news conference his department was investigating the incident.

    He said police had fired tear gas and bean-bag projectiles when protesters defied orders to disperse. He also said that some demonstrators had pelted police with rocks and bottles.

    Olsen is believed to be the most seriously wounded person yet in confrontations between police and activists since Occupy Wall Street protests began last month in New York.

    So looks like the 99% of Oakland will be affected simply because they are in the way. I wonder how the the people of Oakland will feel when their means of living are interfered with?

  • OWS kitchen workers protest feeding 99%

    Funny how when you offer free food, everyone who is hungry shows up for a handout. The kitchen staff at Occupy Wall Street is a little angry about working 18 hours every day to feed the vagrants and criminals who show up to get their fair share says the New York Post

    For three days beginning tomorrow, the cooks will serve only brown rice and other spartan grub instead of the usual menu of organic chicken and vegetables, spaghetti bolognese, and roasted beet and sheep’s-milk-cheese salad.

    They will also provide directions to local soup kitchens for the vagrants, criminals and other freeloaders who have been descending on Zuccotti Park in increasing numbers every day.

    I guess that’s just one more example of why socialism works so well, huh? Aren’t these vagrants and criminals included in that 99%? Aren’t they the poster children of the whole point of the protest? And yet here they are taking advantage of the whole hippie government thing. So I guess there’s a class system even among the hippies.

  • Too lazy to occupy DC full time

    TSO sends a link to a Washington Examiner report of the latest one hour occupation of McPherson Square in downtown DC just off of K Street.

    At exactly 6:00 PM, about 40 people gathered on the only portion of McPherson square that is clear of tents, and began their discussions. The agenda included a brief welcome, a reading of guidelines, a review of their unique voting process, committee reports, a “de-escalation” brainstorm, and announcements.

    Apparently, that’s it, they have a one hour meeting every night and that’s the extent of their “occupation”, that’s occupation in the sense that they take up space, not in the sese that they have jobs. And they’ve developed a secret hippie code to communicate their pleasure and displeasure with their one hour protest;

    To keep the noise level down, protesters use hand signals instead of vocal commands to demonstrate opinion. “Twinkle fingers,” performed by wiggling fingers at ear level, shows approval. “Fact check,” which imitates the rapid-fire of two revolvers, requests a confirmation of logistics. The “block”, which brings the forearms into an X shape, “is very powerful, very rare. It shows your opposition to a proposal is very strong,

    So basically, the only reason this “occupation” exists is for the one hour social event every night and to make unsightly pests of themselves, because they’re certainly not getting anything accomplished except giving the world a glance at what government would look like if the hippies had their way. And, you can’t see me right now, but I’m all twinkle fingers over here.

  • Zombie: Is Occupy Oakland as bad as they say?

    Our buddy, Zombie’s latest at Pajamas Media attempts to answer the question “Is Occupy Oakland as bad as they say?” with pictures and reportage that we’ve come to expect from Zombie;

    Much ado has been made about recent media reports describing Occupy Oakland as a cross between Lord of the Flies and Animal House. The leftist magazine Mother Jones was furious about the negative coverage, deeming it “The Right-Wing Media Assault on Occupy Oakland,” and attempting to debunk the bad press. But Big Journalism lashed back with an article entitled MotherJones: Truth To Unflattering Reports On OWS.

  • Howard Stern has fun with OWS protesters.

    I will just let the videos do the talking. Thanks to Wake up America for the original post. (NSFW warning)

    Still fits perfectly.

  • Occupy Wall Street trying to recruit Military and Police to the cause.

    It seems that the incident with Sgt. Thomas as caused the OWS movement to try to attracted military personal improve their image.

    “#OccupyMARINES Are Currently Assessing The Current Situation To Ascertain What Is Currently Needed To Support OWS America. We Are Humbled At The Substantial Support OWS America Has Provided And Ask That Everyone Continue As You All Do While We Implement Organization Nationwide. As We All Know, ‘Occupy’ Groups Are Being Established Even Now And Would Like To See This Trend Continue. “

    Their website OccupyMarines.org, is calling for “Non-Active ‘Occupy’ Military Supporters Only” and they are organizing a dress code which will help identify their branch affiliation. So we should be seeing Marines, Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel dressed to impress at Occupy events across the country. Their goal will be to talk sense into police officers and recruit them into supporting the cause

    Oh there is this one.

    One Veteran, Alex Limkin said:

    “There is nothing more central to a free and democratic people than the right to dissent, the right to disagree, the right to stand up in the town square and be heard… I feel quite sure that in standing in solidarity with the peaceful Occupy Wall Street movement, I am doing no less than upholding my oath as an American soldier.”

    Perhaps it would be more convincing of a peaceful protest if he was not given administrative leave and a restraining order for threatening a female co-worker.

    This is just pure insanity that occupy wall street is trying to make politicize the military to their own ends. I have no words for this. None.

  • Occupiers: sexual assault discouraged

    Derek Hunter at Big Government picked up a flyer at Occupy baltimore yesterday which threatened banishment from the tent city for anyone committing sexual assault there. I’m sure predators are just shaking in their boots at the prospect.

    Meanwhile, a 19-year-old college student in Cleveland is surprised by the fact that a strange man with whom she was residing in an assigned tent raped and kidnapped her;

    According to police reports, the 19-year-old student was instructed by “Occupy Cleveland” personnel to “share a tent with the suspect due to a shortage of tents.” The suspect identified himself as “Leland” to the woman. The woman told police that after she had thought the suspect went to sleep in his own bed, she slept in a sleeping bag provided to her by the rally.

    Well, if Leland had committed this offense in baltimore, he would have been ostracized and ejected from the protest after a mock trial by hippies.

    No, she didn’t deserve to be raped, but, really, what did she expect? When you hang out with doofuses who don’t respect private property, do you really expect your chastity to be safe?
