    That headline was just too good to not copy. but it goes to the Washington Times story that Kerry is having trouble hiding his stupid self from the world;

    After his latest round of mediation failed to achieve a cease-fire, Mr. Kerry has been portrayed in the Israeli media as a blunderer who unwittingly represented the interests of Hamas, a terrorist organization.

    “U.S. Secretary of State of State John Kerry ruined everything,” columnist Ari Shavit wrote in Monday’s Haaretz, Israel’s most influential liberal newspaper. “Very senior officials in Jerusalem described the proposal that Kerry put on the table as a ‘strategic terrorist attack.’”

    Mr. Kerry said Tuesday he is not concerned about personal attacks.

    Yeah, he’s probably used to it by now. So instead of trying to fix what he screwed up in Israel, he flew to India leaving the White House to defend him;

    White House National Security Adviser Susan E. Rice told the National Jewish Leaders Assembly Monday in Washington that Mr. Kerry supports Israel’s right to defend itself.

    “We’ve been dismayed by some press reports in Israel mischaracterizing his efforts last week to achieve a cease-fire,” she said. “We know these misleading reports in turn raise concerns here at home in America.”

    Yeah, misleading reports. At least he has Joe Biden to make him look good.

    Kerry butthurt over Israeli criticism

    john-kerry black eye

    I guess that John Kerry and the State Department are unhappy that Israelis can think for themselves and they know a bad deal when they see one, according to the Associated Press;

    “Israel has no better friend, no stronger defender than John Kerry,” said Tony Blinken, President Barack Obama’s deputy national security adviser. He said the criticism of Kerry was based on “people leaking things that are either misinformed or attempting to misinform.”

    Pfft. The US has better friends than John Kerry, FFS.

    In trying to implement the cease-fire over the weekend, “U.S. Secretary of State of State John Kerry ruined everything,” wrote columnist Ari Shavit in Monday’s Haaretz, Israel’s leading liberal newspaper. “Very senior officials in Jerusalem described the proposal that Kerry put on the table as a ‘strategic terrorist attack.’”

    The State Department claims that Kerry only presented a “draft proposal” for a ceasefire and I guess they’re upset that the Israeli government released details of the “draft”. That may be true, but I’m sure that Israel is busy destroying tunnels from Gaza and they don’t want their operations to cease at this particular time. The Egyptians claim to have destroyed more than 1600 tunnels between the Sinai and Gaza while hamas has been more attentive to the border with Israel lately;

    Cairo has poured troops into the peninsula to counter a rising insurgency since the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi last year, and its security operation involves the destruction of these tunnels.

    The Palestinian militant group Hamas, which is the main power in Gaza, reportedly uses the tunnels to smuggle arms, food and money into the blockaded coastal enclave.

    Even the Washington Post is ripping on Kerry. David Ignatius claims that Kerry has empowered Hamas;

    Kerry’s error has been to put so much emphasis on achieving a quick halt to the bloodshed that he has solidified the role of Hamas, the intractable, unpopular Islamist group that leads Gaza, along with the two hard-line Islamist nations that are its key supporters, Qatar and Turkey. In the process, he has undercut not simply the Israelis but also the Egyptians and the Fatah movement that runs the Palestinian Authority, all of which want to see an end to Hamas rule in Gaza.

    According to BBC, yesterday, Hamas broke their own unilateral ceasefire hours after it began.

    So, this week, Kerry is headed to India to see how bad he can f’up relations with them and their new Prime Minister Narendra Modi. You know, because he did such a bang-up job with the Gaza thing.

  • Times of Israel: Kerry betrayed Israel

    Times of Israel: Kerry betrayed Israel

    John Kerry tried to cram a really bad deal for Israel down their collective throat the other day, but all he really did was unite the various political factions who now think that they are not only fighting a terrorist neighbor, but also their former ally against terrorism. The Times of Israel calls it “The Betrayal“;

    It seemed inconceivable that the secretary’s initiative would specify the need to address Hamas’s demands for a lifting of the siege of Gaza, as though Hamas were a legitimate injured party acting in the interests of the people of Gaza — rather than the terror group that violently seized control of the Strip in 2007, diverted Gaza’s resources to its war effort against Israel, and could be relied upon to exploit any lifting of the “siege” in order to import yet more devastating weaponry with which to kill Israelis.

    Israel and the US are meant to be allies; the US is meant to be committed to the protection of Israel in this most ruthless of neighborhoods; together, the US and Israel are meant to be trying to marginalize the murderous Islamic extremism that threatens the free world. Yet here was the top US diplomat appearing to accommodate a vicious terrorist organization bent on Israel’s destruction, with a formula that would leave Hamas better equipped to achieve that goal.

    I guess being the actual secretary of state is more difficult than negotiating as a private citizen as Kerry did in Paris with the North Vietnamese in 1970. But, of course, Kerry’s proposed treaty included all of the Code Pink issues. Meanwhile, Hamas’ leader in gaza says that it’s not possible for Hamas to exist alongside Israel, according to AFP;

    “We are not fanatics, we are not fundamentalists. We are not actually fighting the Jews because they are Jews per se. We do not fight any other races. We fight the occupiers,” he said.

    “I’m ready to coexist with the Jews, with the Christians and the Arabs and non-Arabs,” he said. “However, I do not coexist with the occupiers.”

    The UN calls for a ceasefire in Gaza, apparently unaware that Hamas hasn’t ceased fire since this began. The president also called for an “immediate ceasefire” even though each attempt at a ceasefire has failed because of one side. In fact, this whole episode began while the two sides were under a 2012 ceasefire.

  • Israel rejects ceasefire proposal

    Agency France Press reports that Israel has rejected the temporary ceasefire proposal thrown together by John Kerry today.

    Kerry’s proposal reportedly involved an initial truce to be followed by negotiations on a final deal by delegations from all the parties.

    Hamas, the main power in Gaza, previously rejected an initial ceasefire proposal, demanding a full settlement before it stopped shooting, but international mediation efforts have gathered pace in the past few days.

    Kerry, who spent another night in Cairo reaching out by telephone to regional officials, met Ban and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri for around half an hour.

    Yeah, those temporary ceasefires always work so well. For Hamas. Israel ceases firing and Hamas continues. What AFP didn’t put in their report is that part of the permanent agreement was that Israel had to open their blockade of Gaza – you know, so those homicide bombers can get to their victims easier. Also, Israel is finding more tunnels and those tunnels are more sophisticated than they thought at first and they don’t want to stop destroying those tunnels.

    So basically, Kerry and the UN wanted to turn back the clock and open up Israelis to more attacks from Hamas. From Reuters;

    Hamas, which wants an end to an Israeli-Egyptian blockade of Gaza before agreeing to halt hostilities, has yet to respond to the ceasefire proposition, which has not been made public.

    The Israeli source, who declined to be named, said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security cabinet had turned down the plan because it did not let Israel carry on hunting down Hamas’s tunnel network that criss-crosses the Gaza border.

    “Kerry’s proposal leans (too much) towards Hamas’s demands,” said the source.

    So, I’m shocked that Kerry is failing, because he’s been so successful with everything he’s done up until now. Oh, wait….

  • A “Red Letter Day” for American foreign policy

    A “Red Letter Day” for American foreign policy

    Are you sitting down? According to Reuters, US Secretary of State John Kerry said that Israel has a national right to defend themselves from Hamas’ rocket attacks from Gaza;

    U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Sunday.”You have a right to go in and take out those tunnels,” Kerry told Fox News. “We completely support that. And we support Israel’s right to defend itself against rockets that are continuing to come in.”

    Yep, aren’t you glad you were sitting down? Not only that, Kerry urged Hamas to accept a ceasefire with Israel;

    Kerry called on Hamas to consider a ceasefire. “It is important for Hamas to now step up and be reasonable and understand that (if) you accept the ceasefire, you save lives,” he said.In a separate interview on CNN, Kerry said President Barack Obama will ask him to go to the Middle East soon to aid in efforts to secure a ceasefire.

    I know, it’s hard to believe, isn’t it? Usually, they like to bully Israel into accepting whatever terms that Hamas dictates to them. I guess they figured that since world wide popular opinion is siding with Israel this time, and they have their hands full with crises like the border and Russia, they could afford to punt one.

  • State Department runs out of visas for Afghan ‘terps

    The Washington Post reports that the State Department is running out of visas for Afghan interpreters, you know, those folks who we owe because they forsake their homes and families to help us in the war against terror;

    About 6,000 applicants are in the pipeline, including about 300 whose cases have reached the final stage of the process. Congress set a cap of 3,000 visas for 2014. The State Department expects to have issued that many visas within days, well ahead of the end of the fiscal year on Sept. 30.

    “We owe these people this opportunity to be out of harm’s way,” Heather A. Higginbottom, the deputy secretary of state for management and resources, said in an interview. “This program and our commitment to them is incredibly important.”

    The State Department’s current predicament is to a large degree one of its own making. The visa program was beset for years by interagency debates, security concerns and bureaucratic processing delays. In the fall of 2012, for instance, the State Department had granted just 32 visas among more than 5,700 applicants for the immigration pathway, which Congress established in 2009.

    Yeah, but more than 50,000 illegals who are stacked up along our border aren’t all that worried, because they don’t have to wait for the broke-dick bureaucracy to give them the green light. Of course, we’re rushing for the exits in Afghanistan and leaving our allies to the designs of the Taliban this administration did their best to avoid killing.

    Secretary of State John F. Kerry demanded a thorough review of the program last year and asked his staff to find ways to streamline it.

    “Some deserving people were simply falling through the cracks,” Kerry wrote in an op-ed column in the Los Angeles Times last month in which he acknowledged the program’s shortcomings.

    Well, then, the problem is fixed now. John Kerry has made noises about it. Problem solved. The Vietnamese scouts and interpreters we left behind ended up in reeducation camps if they weren’t murdered outright, but, John Kerry was too busy feathering his nest back then to notice. This time it can be laid at his stank-ass hippie feet.

  • Another crisis in Afghanistan

    Another crisis in Afghanistan

    John Kerry went to Afghanistan to sort out the problems that they are having with their election process. Apparently, one of the candidates is upset with the results. From the Christian Science Monitor;

    Former foreign minister Dr. Abdullah, the winner of the first round of voting, has declared the June 14 run-off election fraudulent and withdrawn his cooperation with the country’s election commission.

    In May, Abdullah polled 45 percent compared with Dr. Ghani’s 32 percent. A dramatic reversal in the runoff election boosted Ghani to 56 percent of the vote compared to Abdullah’s 43 percent. Ghani says the result is due to increased turnout in his base of support in the south and east of the country. Mr. Abdullah alleges mass fraud.

    I just think it’s hilarious that a few weeks ago, John Kerry was making arrangements to send troops to Iraq. In regards to sending troops to Iraq, he once said, “You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”

    Now now he’s using his great experience in the election process to straighten out Afghanistan. What? Wasn’t Al Gore available?

  • Kerry: $5b in terrorism fund

    Kerry: $5b in terrorism fund

    John Kerry

    ROS sends us a link to the Washington Times with an Associated Press article and I really don’t know what to make of it.

    Secretary of State John Kerry said Wednesday the United States is setting up a $5 billion “terrorism partnership fund” to help other countries push back against radical extremists.

    The headline tells that story, too, but that’s all there is. No indication as to what they plan to do with the fund. For all we know, it’s to buy bubble gum for when our allies aren’t kicking ass.

    From Wiki;

    The most recent major report on these costs come from Brown University in the form of the Costs of War project, which said the total for wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan is at least $3.2-4 trillion.

    So what do they expect $5 billion will do? I’m thinking that they announced this the day after they settled on keeping 9800 troops in Afghanistan to give the impression that they’re not giving up on the war on terror, that the Nobel Prize president is still a wartime president.

    The only way this would be news to me is if Kerry was starting the fund out of his own pocket, and I guess we know that will never happen.
