  • New Sheriff for ‘Frisco

Well, it seems Sodom-by-the-Bay will soon have a new sheriff. Ross Mirkarimi, the incumbent, was soundly defeated in an election held yesterday.

You may remember Mirkarimi (or at least his office, if not his name) from a few months ago. This is the same Sheriff whose jail released an illegal immigrant felon in spite of the fact that INS authorities had requested a hold on the individual. They did so because of San Francisco’s “sanctuary city” laws.

That illegal immigrant, Francisco Sanchez, claims he later allegedly “found” a gun wrapped in a shirt; he further claims that when he picked it up, it “went off by itself” and killed an innocent woman – Kate Steinle – near San Francisco’s waterfront. (If you believe that cock-and-bull story, I’ll make you a great deal on the Golden Gate Bridge.)   Had Sanchez been held and turned over to INS as requested, Ms Steinle would doubtless still be alive today.

It turns out Mirkarimi was a real piece of work in other respects, too. He had multiple other issues – issues that probably were more important to the “wonderful voters” of San Francisco than the sanctuary city/felon illegal immigrant release idiocy. This Fox News article details those issues.

The lady elected to replace Mirkarimi, Vicki Hennessy, has called San Frisco’s policies in this area “misguided”. She has indicated a willingness to cooperate with INS in “certain cases”.

Well, we are talking about Sodom-by-the-Bay; full-time use of common sense and complete cooperation regarding illegal immigration enforcement is probably too much to expect. Still, it looks like there soon will be one less bona fide idiot running the show there.

    That’s a good thing.

  • Dempsey worried about migration crisis

    Dempsey worried about migration crisis

ABC News reports that the out-going Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Martin Dempsey, was wringing his hands in an interview with them over the immigration problem – not the one on our own border, but rather the one that is suddenly in the news because of a picture of dead toddler on the beach in Turkey – the thousands who are coming to Europe from the Middle East.

Dempsey said the issue of migrants flowing into Europe has been “the most prominent issue” discussed by U.S. and NATO military leaders at regular meetings the past few months…“The southern Europeans feel as though they’re not gaining enough support for this challenge, the central and northern European leaders feel as though it’s a problem that needs to be dealt with in the south,” Dempsey said. “Although, I think there’s beginning to be a bit of recognition that this is, this is a real crisis.”

Thousands of Middle Eastern folks going north is a “real crisis”, so I wonder what adjective fits the migration of millions of Central Americans going north. The solution, of course, is that if the people who are leaving put as much effort into fixing the problems in their own countries as they put into un-assing their AOs, they’d have no reason to leave and, in doing so, crush the economies and infrastructures of their intended destinations.

They, instead, think that dealing with solutions to the problems in their countries is the job of the “north” while they wait for us to fix it in the relative safety of our own neighborhoods.

  • Forget guns, illegals kill with cars

Forget guns, illegals kill with cars

We’re hearing a lot about the unfortunate murder in San Francisco of an innocent woman by an illegal Mexican thug who had been arrested and charged with numerous crimes, then deported multiple times only to return to cap his criminal career with an irrational, cold-blooded murder. While Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez may be drawing a lot of media heat, he’s small beer when it comes to illegals maiming and killing innocent Americans in other ways.

What the Obama administration and their sycophant media do not want you to realize is that the favored weapon of young male illegals is not a stolen handgun or a cheaply made switchblade knife, but a much larger instrument of mayhem and death. That would be the junker – an automobile nearing the end of its useful existence by American standards, but still utilitarian enough for a drunken, unlicensed, uninsured male illegal to drive through your community at high speed, without regard for the public welfare or any consideration of the huge harm he is capable of inflicting upon innocent American citizens. Those of us who may have the misfortune of entering an intersection simultaneously with this outlaw as he blows through it at double or triple the speed limit, against the light, will be lucky to survive the impact, and even more fortunate to ever learn who it was – who, in those few seconds, changed our whole world.

Because, you see, while the dust is settling amid the reek of spilled gasoline and perhaps blood, and the flashing lights of emergency vehicles strobe surrealistically, you and the first responders will be the only involved parties in the intersection. That illegal Mexican, Guatemalan, Nicaraguan, or whatever will be long departed, fleeing the scene at the same reckless speed and with the same abandon abandon that has you on a gurney sliding into the back of the ambulance. He has no insurance, much less a license to operate the vehicle that has so damnably and perhaps permanently altered your life. That of course is predicated on whether or not you are still in possession of that life, or whether it was taken from you with one violent impact by that thoroughly irresponsible young man, whom your president and the Democratic Party welcomed to this country and whom your city fathers granted unquestioned sanctuary.

Welcome to Obama’s America, where every intersection has become a potential site for your random execution by an irresponsible, unlicensed young illegal immigrant getting the thrill of his life driving his beloved clunker at perilous speed, something he surely never had the chance to do in the small village that produced him (so he’s likely not even a competent driver). He also likely has no record and may even be a hardworking laborer for a landscaping business or something similar. All well and good until he climbs into that wreck he’s bought with his sweaty wages, and takes off hell-bent under the influence of drugs or alcohol. That young fool your president and the Democrats opened the gates for and welcomed in has now become a deadly threat to all of those in his path. One has to wonder: who are the bigger fools here?

If you think I exaggerate, look at the news reports; Google the topic, and you will quickly find that those states with the highest rates of hit-and-run incidents are those states with the highest numbers of illegal immigrants. And it’s not like it hasn’t been reported previously here at American Thinker.

  • Twenty years ago today

    Twenty years ago today

The Stars & Stripes wrote an article three years ago about the confrontation between US troops and the Cuban refugees they were supposed to be protecting. Bill Clinton was president and he remembered how Cuban refugees had sunk his reelection for the governorship of Arkansas after the Mariel Boatlift between April 15 and October 31, 1980. So when another huge exodus from Cuba began in 1994, Clinton tried to hide the problem by sending refugees to Guantanmo. When the camps filled up there, he shipped them to the Canal Zone and the US built detention camps there on the Army’s “Empire Range” – the large training area. he put inexperienced infantrymen in charge of managing the burgeoning camps.

    The Cubans became impatient at being detained in the camps while the wheels of the immigration bureaucracy ground slowly and they rioted on occasion, burning tents and stealing soldiers’ military vehicles. Of course, the soldiers were unarmed except for riot batons;

Inside the camp, the Cubans tied the gates shut and pushed bleachers from the soccer field against the fence.

“Finally we got the word,” Epley said.

He and two other soldiers went to work on the gate. By now the Cubans were hurling the drainage rocks at the U.S. troops. A few rocks broke through the fence. One of them hit a soldier in the face.

“He got nailed,” Epley recalled. “Broke his jaw.”

They got the gate open slightly, and Epley raced through. He charged at a group of rioters, screaming, with his baton in the air. The sight of the crazed American soldier sent them scurrying.

    “Move out!” Amerine yelled.

The Cubans retreated around the corner of the dining facility. Marching three abreast with their riot shields up, as if in a parade, Amerine’s 1st Platoon walked along the back of the dining facility.

As they turned the corner and faced the soccer field, they finally saw what they were facing: hundreds and hundreds of angry rioters.

“The sky filled with a dark cloud of stones,” Amerine wrote later.

Another soldier, Spc. Robert Young, wasn’t far behind. He’d been in the Persian Gulf War and was one of the few combat veterans in the company.

He’d never seen anything like this.

“The sun is gone,” Young recalled. “Thousands and thousands of rocks.”

But you should go read the rest of the story and about the bravery of the Americans when confronted with a situation they had never faced before. I noticed that Mogadishu hadn’t influenced the folks in leadership positions to give the troops the tools that they said they needed that day in Panama to protect themselves – you know stuff like riot shotguns. There was very little about it in the news when it happened and there will be even less about it on the twentieth anniversary today. But it’s worth remembering with the growing numbers of illegal immigrants currently being rounded up and put in refugee camps these days.

Luis Enrique Monroy-Bracamonte; cop killer deported twice

    Luis Enrique Monroy-Bracamonte

    Fox News reports that a fellow by the name of Luis Enrique Monroy-Bracamonte, murdered two cops this weekend, but immigration officials say that he had been deported to Mexico twice before;

A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman said that the fingerprints of the suspected shooter match those of a man named Luis Enrique Monroy-Bracamonte. Monroy-Bracamonte was initially deported to Mexico in 1997 after being convicted of drug possession in Arizona. Four years later, he was arrested and deported again for an unspecified offense.

Monroy-Bracamonte shot three police officers on Friday, killing two during a six hour manhunt in northern California.

Duncan Hunter: 10 ISIS terrorists captured at border

Congressman Duncan Hunter tells Greta Van Susteren that the border patrol has told him that they’ve captured ten ISIS terrorists on our southern border as they tried to make their way into the US.

Who would have thought that? Well, besides everyone with a living brain cell. But saying it out loud is probably racist and makes me a xenophobe.

  • 6000 missing students

    6000 missing students

    Department-of-Homeland-Security

Mary sends us a link to ABC News in which they report that there are six thousand people missing in America who came here on student visas, then overstayed their welcomed and melted into the population and Homeland Security is unable to find them. It seems to me that this has been a problem in the past with some terrible results.

Homeland Security officials disclosed the breadth of the student visa problem in response to ABC News questions submitted as part of an investigation into persistent complaints about the nation’s entry program for students.

ABC News found that immigration officials have struggled to keep track of the rapidly increasing numbers of foreign students coming to the U.S. — now in excess of one million each year. The immigration agency’s own figures show that 58,000 students overstayed their visas in the past year. Of those, 6,000 were referred to agents for follow-up because they were determined to be of heightened concern.

“They just disappear,” said Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla. “They get the visas and they disappear.”

I guess “Never again” is just another empty platitude.

But, do you know who I think they should be watching? Veterans and right wingers, that’s who. Timothy McVeigh!

  • More “Government Transparency”? Sure Looks Like It.

Remember a month ago or so, when the TSA flatly denied news reports that illegal immigrants were being allowed to board US commercial flights without proper ID? You know, after Border Patrol union officials had disclosed the practice, flatly stated it was occurring, and questioned it?  When TSA said, in a press release to multiple media outlets,

“These reports are false. A Notice to Appear, issued by the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), is not an acceptable form of ID at the TSA checkpoint.”

Do I really have to tell you what they’re saying today? After all, haven’t we seen this Administration backpedal enough since January 2009 to know what’s coming next?

Hell, I’m gonna tell you anyway. Here’s a quote from a 7 August 2014 letter from TSA to Rep. Kenny Marchant, R-TX:

…” If a passenger does not have an acceptable form of identification, then the passenger is allowed to present two other forms of identification. One of the two forms of identification must bear the individual’s name and other identifying information such as photo, address, phone number, social security number, or date of birth. TSA may assess a variety of government issued documents to establish passenger identity. The I-862 form may be used along with another form of identification in this instance. As part of the issuance process for Form I-862, the person undergoes a biographic systems check, and a biometric systems check against both the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System and the Automated Biometric Identification System prior to the issuance of Form I-862. TSA needs to be able to assess a wide range of information proffered by a passenger in order to investigate the passenger’s identity and make sure that watchlist matching has occurred.”

If a passenger can only present a Form I-862, TSA will attempt to establish the passenger’s identity through DHS partner Components, such as U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) or U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). If other DHS Components are able to provide corroborating information (such as that the I-862 was issued to an individual with the name provided) to permit TSA to verify an individual’s identity when taken together with all other information available, the passenger is permitted into the screening checkpoint to undergo screening.

Yep.  If the claimed name matches and the individual can present no other info, the guy or gal flies.  Gee, you don’t suppose someone could POSSIBLY use someone else’s name or fake such a form, do you?  Especially since the form is allegedly available on the Internet?

Sheesh.  Ya know, I really wish the current Administration would quit p!ssing on my leg and telling me it’s raining.

It’s getting old.  And I can tell p!ss from rain.
