  • Trump and the 14th Amendment

    Section 1 if the 14th Amendment to the Constitution states:

    All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

    In today’s ROT, Combat Historian broke the news that Trump is planning an Executive Order to end the practice of “anchor babies” where when illegal aliens give birth on US soil, that child is automatically a US citizen. While this practice is not unknown in the world, it is rare and found in countries with a history of slavery; even though the emancipated parent(s) is/are not citizens, their children born on US soil are. This now causes problems.

    For example “birth tourism” is a flourishing business. Pregnant women fly here, stay at special hotels and pay sometimes extraordinarily high fees for “concierge services” designed to facilitate the birth of their children. The benefit to the family is that the child is thereby eligible to claim U.S. social welfare, be educated at much lower cost and obtain certain medical benefits for life here.

    It also allows for “chain migration” of immediate relatives of the anchor baby to petition for visas.

    President Trump is moving forward with a plan to end birthright citizenship via executive action.

    “On immigration, some legal scholars believe you can get rid of birthright citizenship without changing the Constitution,” Axios’ Jonathan Swan asked President Trump in a video interview.

    “With an executive order,” Trump replied.

    “Exactly,” Swan followed up. “Have you thought about that?”

    “Yes,” Trump replied.

    “Tell me more,” Swan implored.

    “It was always told to me that you needed a Constitutional amendment–guess what? You don’t,” Trump said. “Number one, you don’t need that. Number two, you can definitely do it with an act of Congress. But now they’re saying I can do it with just an executive order. Now, how ridiculous–we are the only country in the world where a person comes in, has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States for 85 years with all of those benefits? It’s ridiculous. It’s ridiculous–and it has to end.”

    Swan asked if Trump has discussed this matter with legal counsel for the White House and he confirmed he has, and that this is “in the process.”

    “It will happen–with an executive order, that’s what you’re talking about right?” Trump said. “I didn’t think anybody knew that but me, I thought I was the only one.”

    Revoking birthright citizenship would have immediate and far-reaching consequences. It would mean the children of illegal aliens, even if born in the United States, would not be bestowed U.S. citizenship upon birth. It would also likely deter the practice of foreigners having “anchor babies,” where they aim to give birth to children on U.S. soil so as to obtain U.S. citizenship for their children at birth.

    In fact, the anchor baby population–those born in the United States to at least one illegal alien parent–has skyrocketed in recent years. According to a recent Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report, the anchor baby population per year now exceeds the number of U.S. citizen births from American citizens.

    Trump moving forward on such plans would likely set off a legal and political battle of epic proportions, as lawsuits would come in challenging the order’s legality and the president’s authority to act via executive action on this front. But there also remains a possibility, if Republicans hold the House in next week’s midterm elections and add seats in the Senate, that a more permanent legislative fix not dependent on who is in the White House could come for dealing with ending birthright citizenship.

    Lawsuits falling like autumn leaves. If the planets align and Reps keep the House, expand their majority in the Senate, and Trump gets another bite at the SCOTUS apple, this could actually happen. Someone once said, “Elections have consequences.” VOTE!

    The news came the same day that Defense Secretary Jim Mattis announced that the military has already begun delivering countermeasures to the southern border.

    The caravan, which has included as many as 7,200 people and is currently approximately 1,000 miles from the closest border crossing with the U.S., has become a major issue with less than two weeks before the Nov. 6 midterm elections.

    Note that number: up to 7,200 people, not the 17,000s that were indicated elsewhere. This need to exaggerate is one of the worst characteristics of the lefterd media’s bad reporting.

    The trekkers are doing about 30 miles a day now, and Hurricane Willa was threatening to exploit their difficulties by making landfall, but dwindled to a moisture source for the next USA Nor’easter.

    Check Accuweather or the National Weather Service for updates on Pacific storms off the southwestern shores.

    Per the article: The Mexican government says more than 1,700 people in the caravan have applied for asylum and that other people have gone home, Reuters reported on Saturday. Honduras, according to the report, says that 4,500 Honduran citizens trying to leave have recently come back to the Central American country.     Well, so much for the “good neighbor” thing. They get offers of jobs and say ‘No’, or they give up and go home, and they will meet with barriers set up by the U.S. military when they get to the US/Mexico border.

    To summarize it: the various reports of numbers, from 8,000 to 17,000, were incorrect from the get-go. It was about 4,000 at the start, then grew to 10,000 and then drew down to the current 7,200 count. Jobs were offered to them in Mexico and were refused. Some 4,500 Hondurans have given up and gone home to Honduras. And you’ll find in the article that when someone asked the marchers to wait their turn for the sandwiches and water being handed out, those ungrateful twerps chased him and beat him up.

    Nice people. My neighbors don’t act like that. They are civilized.

    Well, there it is. Quietly within the deliberate words from Vice-President Mike Pence a revelation that explains the origination of the Central American invasion force. For those who are not deep in the geopolitical weeds, the subtlety can pass unnoticed; for those who travel within the deepest international conflicts, Pence’s words here are as subtle as a brick through a window:

    Announcing the migrant caravan is “financed by Venezuela” is a direct notification the Central American invasion force is being funded by Russia and China. Venezuela doesn’t have any money to sustain its own operational government – let alone a 10,000 person convoy. Venezuela is entirely reliant upon massive investment from Russia and China.

    I have looked into a few of these. “Veterans who have been deported” cases.  I am sure there are exceptions but they all seem to have valid reasons for being sent out of the country.  “Being a Veteran” does not absolve an individual from his civic and legal responsibilities.

    A U.S. military veteran who was deported to Mexico six years ago walked back across the U.S.-Mexico border Wednesday proudly wearing his Army uniform and maroon beret to reunite with his family.

    Anxious to greet Fabian Rebolledo, 43, across the border in San Diego were his parents, siblings and 18-year-old son, The Los Angeles Daily News reported.

    Rebolledo was first deported to Mexico in 2010 after authorities said he cashed a $750 check they believed to be forged. He insisted he received the check for construction work he performed and didn’t know it was fraudulent.

    He reentered the country and in 2012, immigration officers picked him up at his parents home and he was deported again.

    His battle with the U.S. immigration system received help from the University of California, Irvine Immigrant Rights Clinic and other advocacy groups.

    “We fought for this Constitution, not only for our own families but for everybody in the United States so they can walk free,” Rebolledo said. “There are a lot of veterans out there that need our help.”

    Yes, yes, yes, there are Victim Veterans everywhere.  Cashing a forged check and then re-entering the country illegally should be all forgotten about because he is a Veteran.  Most of the cases I have looked into involve drug crimes…we should look the other way for that too I guess.

    The Daily News reported Rebolledo dropped out of college to work before he joined the Army.  A recruiter “brainwashed” him into thinking he would automatically become a citizen, he told reporters.

    My recruiter told me that I didn’t have to die in a steel mill or a coal mine, he said if I was lucky enough I would die far away from all that in some country I could probably not pronounce.   So Rebolledo was ‘brainwashed’ by the Army but enjoys using his service for special treatment.  I always find this special kind of Veteran Pride a bit shallow.

    The “Broad Born as Bradley” seems to be having a bit of difficulty going down under.

    Chelsea Manning won’t be permitted to enter Australia for a speaking tour scheduled to kick off at the Sydney Opera House on Sunday after that country’s Department of Home Affairs deemed the American classified document leaker failed to meet character requirements. While the Australian government won’t address Manning’s case specifically, per the AP, a person having a criminal record could cause them to fail the character test. Manning, a former US Army intelligence officer, was convicted of leaking classified documents to WikiLeaks and served seven years in prison. Manning also has speaking dates scheduled in New Zealand. That country’s government is still considering whether to grant her a “special direction” visa, which she would need due to her conviction. In a statement, Amnesty International says Australia’s decision sends a “chilling message that freedom of speech is not valued.”

    Bradley might not have what it takes to blow my skirt up, but it seems a bit much to deny what’s its name into a Westernized country.  What’s good for the goose is good for the gander as they say.  Bar silly girls like Bradly and they can bar people like me for not fearing a God.  They will use the criminal aspect of what this idiot has done in the past, but I betcha there are people who have done far worse that have been let into the country.

    Isn’t the whole damn country populated by the malaize of genetic stew from a bloody lot of criminals?  Who is next, Candace Owens because she is too white? The “Broad Born as Bradley” will do about anything for a headline, he does not need to be encouraged.  I have been rather proud of the fact that some thought I failed to meet character requirements…I ain’t the only low life around here either…you know who you are.   Give a girl a chance… to stay in another country.

    According to AFP, Italy suffers the ire of other European Union states for turning back boatloads of illegal immigrants. French president Emmanuel Macron is calling for a monetary penalty;

    Far-right Interior Minister Matteo Salvini denounced [French President Emmanuel] Macron’s “arrogance” over the migrant issue.

    “Six-hundred-and-fifty thousand landings in four years, 430,000 applications…, 170,000 apparent refugees currently housed in hotels, buildings and apartments at a cost exceeding five billion euros.

    “If for the arrogant President Macron this is not a problem, we invite him to stop the insults and to demonstrate generosity by opening the many French ports and ceasing to push back women, children and men” the flashpoint Italian border town of Ventimiglia.

    Meanwhile, a German charity vessel with more than 230 migrants aboard remained in limbo off the coast of Malta.

    “The Lifeline, an illegal ship with 239 immigrants on board is in Maltese waters,” Salvini wrote on Facebook.

    “These boats can forget about reaching Italy, I want to stop the business of trafficking and mafia,” said Salvini, whose country is on the frontline of the migrant crisis.

    German, French and Danish ships with hundreds of refugees await instructions from the Italians near their ports.

  • Mattis: 2 Military bases to house illegal immigrants

    According to the Associated Press, Secretary of Defense James Mattis announced that two unnamed military bases are preparing temporary camps to house as many as 20,000 unaccompanied illegal immigrant children;

    Speaking to reporters traveling with him to Asia on Sunday, Mattis said the military has housed people in the past, including Vietnamese fleeing their country as well as Americans needing shelter in the wake of natural disasters.

    “We consider that to be a logistics function that’s quite appropriate” for the department, Mattis said.

    The request for temporary shelter — amid a growing political battle over detained migrants — was made by the Department of Health and Human Services and accepted by the Defense Department.

    HHS has assessed facilities on four military bases: Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas, plus three bases in Texas: Dyess Air Force Base, Goodfellow Air Force Base and Fort Bliss.

    The Defense Department won’t operate the facilities, that function falls to the Department of of Health and Human Services from July until the end of this year.

  • Media twists Trump’s “animals”

    Yesterday, President Trump railed against MS-13 thugs and called them “animals”. Today the media is telling us that Trump was calling all immigrants “animals”. What he actually said;

    Trump was asked about the brutal gang by Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims when addressing California sanctuary city laws. Mims specifically said, “There could be an MS-13 gang member I know about, if they don’t reach a certain threshold, I cannot tell ICE about them.”

    The president responded, “You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are. These aren’t people, these are animals, and we’re taking them out of the country at a level and at a rate that’s never happened before.”

    Now, from the Associated Press;

    While railing against California for its so-called sanctuary immigration policies, President Donald Trump referred to some people who cross the border illegally as “animals” — drawing a sharp rebuke from Democratic leaders for the harsh rhetoric.

    Trump’s remark at meeting with local leaders was in response to a complaint about gang members.

    “We have people coming into the country, or trying to come in — and we’re stopping a lot of them,” Trump said during the immigration round table after a sheriff commented about gangs. “You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are. These aren’t people. These are animals.”

    Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., responded on Twitter to the president, saying, “When all of our great-great-grandparents came to America they weren’t ‘animals,’ and these people aren’t either.”

    And from Yahoo News;

    President Trump portrayed some immigrants crossing into the country illegally as “animals” while speaking Wednesday at a White House event targeting California’s sanctuary city policies.

    “We have people coming into the country, who are trying to come in, and we’re stopping a lot of them, but we’re taking people out of the country, you wouldn’t believe how bad these people are,” Trump said in reference to alleged gang members. “These aren’t people. These are animals.”

    That broad-brush assertion itself is jarring, but not uncommon for Trump. In fact, it’s just the latest instance in which Trump has sought to dehumanize those he considers undesirable.

    He’d probably only offer illegals one scoop of ice cream, too.
