  • The liberal mindlessness

    The two biggest issues in the news this week are the impending Obama Tax Hikes coming the first of the year and the cuts to defense spending that go with it, and we’re looking at some form of gun control. Both of those things are related to each other in that Liberals don’t like things that make them feel sad and it makes them feel sad that we spend too much money on our own defense, irrespective of the place we hold in the world. They also feel sad when a score of children get shot down in their school. Not that it doesn’t make me sad, too, but the difference is that I don’t blame anyone but the gun man, and his mother who failed to secure the guns in her home knowing that her son was unbalanced, and it turns out that she was going to have him committed.

    They’re not too keen on seeking long term solutions, or looking at the consequences of their outcry, they just want to “do something” that makes them feel better RIGHT NOW! So their solution to defense spending is to let the cuts take effect automatically. Liberals are convinced that our current state of relative peace will continue regardless of what they do today.

    In regards to the gun issue and their simplistic, anti-intellectual solution – stop letting people buy guns and everyone will automatically stop killing other people. Regardless of the fact that it’s no real solution – but it will make them feel better because they did something.

    Just like the tax hike problem, they say they want to have a discussion and a compromise, but what they mean by that is that they want our side to sit down and shut up while we listen to them preach to us.

    Yesterday, they were complaining because the NRA went silent in the social media since Friday’s shootings. Today’s complaint is that the NRA is releasing a statement on the shootings this week.

    There’s no compromise, there’s no discussion until we all accept their solutions without question. When we turn in all of our guns, they’ll still complain about something or other. Just like they complain that the Republican Party is “too white” and then when a Black man is appointed to fill a Senate seat who happens to be a Republican they call him vile names.

    There’s no reason to placate these intellectually vacant turds, so we just put our heads down and drive forward. Liberals have never been in the business of solutions, just doing things that make them feel better about themselves, regardless of who gets hurt in the interim. They thrive on crisis, so if their solutions don’t work, it’s because we didn’t go far enough the first time.

  • Obama’s gun control wish list

    I remember when the Democrats were telling us gun nuts during the election earlier this year that we were being irrational in our fears that this president would be coming for our guns, because he hadn’t up until now. ABC News reports that they’ve gotten a bit more specific on the kinds of gun laws they’d like to see;

    The White House today indicated President Obama would support legislation that would reinstate the ban on certain types of semi-automatic rifles – known as “the assault weapons ban” — and may support other efforts, such as a proposal to ban high-capacity magazines, in the wake of the deadly massacre in Newtown, Conn.

    “He is actively supportive of, for example, Senator Feinstein’s stated intent to revive a piece of legislation that would reinstate the assault weapons ban,” White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters, publicly backing for the first time legislation Feinstein plans to introduce. The White House had previously been reluctant to publicly named any specific action it might support in an effort to prevent future massacres.

    “Certain types of semi-automatic weapons” means that they don’t know what they’re talking about. They plan on going back to banning the sales of scary-looking black rifles with bayonet lugs and flash suppressors – which has nothing to do with the lethality of the weapons, but everything to do feelings of fear. It certainly won’t “prevent future massacres”.

    They don’t need to ban high capacity magazines – I spent three hours last night looking for magazines. Cheaper Than Dirt and Amazon have apparently quit selling them, while everyone else is just out of them. Everyone is back ordered on 5.56mm ammo, too, well, except tracer ammo.

    The article goes on to say that the president wants to “close the gun show loophole”. I don’t know what that means – I’ve bought two guns at gunshows in the last few years and both times I had to go through the same background checks I would in a store.

    The president says that he reached out to my Senator, Joe Manchin for advice. Funny, but I tried to reach out to Manchin yesterday, too, but I went straight to voice mail.

    ADDED: NBC broadcast new is reporting that Joe Bite-Me will be spearheading the anti-gun legislation, you know like he spearheaded the strategy in Afghanistan, so we’re boned.

  • Stupid hippie crap

    Hasan in the gun debate without a beard

    You might not recognize this turd without his beard, but Laughing Wolf sent this to us on Facebook from the Rachel Maddow Fan Page. It was obviously made by some idiot who doesn’t know that most of the weapons on Fort Hood that day were locked up in arms rooms. It’s not like we all get to walk around on post with our loaded service weapons. If we were, Beard Boy, the born again jihadist, might have had second thoughts about doing his dastardly deed, since he’s currently fighting for his worthless life in court.

    But I hope this ignorant twatwaffle feels good about him or herself standing on the bodies of 14 people, 13 soldiers and an unborn baby, to make their worthless point. And it proves my point that most of these jackwagons have no business in this discussion because they don’t have a clue what they’re talking about. Oh, yeah, 1700 idiots “Liked” the photo and 1200 more “shared” it.

  • A Little Hard Data to PO the Anti-Gun Crowd

    Some “gentle souls” out there think all guns should be banned.  They are indeed ignorant and misguided fools.

    They’re probably beyond education on this point.  But I’ll try to enlighten them anyway.

    There are many reasons the 2nd Amendment recognizes an individual’s right to keep and bear arms.  Some are related to liberty.  But one even more near and dear to all of us is personal protection.

    Here is a short, “quick and dirty” list of average police response times to emergency calls (generally defined as violent crimes in progress requiring an immediate police response) in major cities in the US.  In smaller towns and rural areas, the response time can be expected to be longer.

    Nationwide Averages:  http://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/cvus/previous/cvus107.pdf

    I’ve read somewhere that the average violent crime takes on the order of 1-2 minutes.   That’s eminently believable; I damn well know someone with a knife can carve another person up like a steak to the point they won’t survive in a minute or less.  A baseball bat can do the trick even quicker.  So that means in only a small fraction of the cases (far less than 10%) would the police even be able to arrive during the crime – much less in time to prevent it, or to prevent injury of the innocent.

    There’s a good reason for the old saying “When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.”  It happens to be true.

    Anti-gun fools, I don’t much care if you want to help criminals and make yourselves easy targets incapable of defending yourself against an armed attacker.  But I take exception to you making it impossible for me to defend myself and my family.

    And so does the US Constitution.

  • Manchin cracks on guns

    OK, so I voted for a Democrat in the elections last month – it was Joe Manchin for Senator from West Virginia. He was good on guns and Cap & Trade – it took me several minutes to decide what to do when I voted for him, but I did it, mostly because he introduced the Federal CCW bill in the Senate. But, it only took me a month to regret it. According to the Washington Post, he cracked this weekend on guns with the most vacuous line from the anti-gun fascists;

    “I dont know anyone in the sporting or hunting arena that goes out with an assault rifle,” Manchin told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” ”I don’t know anyone that needs 30 rounds in a clip to go hunting. I mean, these are things that need to be talked about.”

    I don’t need 30 rounds to go hunting. In fact I don’t hunt anymore, but I own more guns that I’ve ever owned. But I just ordered some more high-capacity magazines this weekend, because I want to – no other reason. So Manchin was the first Democrat who I’ve voted for since Jimmy Carter, and it looks like he’s the last one, too.

  • Calls for renewal of Assault Weapons Ban

    chuck-schumer-shooting-a-tech-9

    Democrats took to the airways today tripping over each other to get in front of a camera so they can be seen doing something, regardless of how useless. Joe Lieberman, reminding us why he isn’t really a conservative, called for a commission to investigate the relationship between video games and guns. Chuck Schumer, pictured above with a shit-eating grin and firing a Tech-9, called for a limit on magazine capacity. While Dianne Feinstein renewed her promise to reintroduce the 90s “Assault Weapons Ban”;

    “We’re crafting this one and it’s going to be done with care, it’ll be ready on the first day. I’ll be announcing House authors and we’ll be prepared to go. And I hope the nation will really help,” she told NBC’s “Meet The Press.”

    Feinstein also said she is confident the bill will have the support of President Obama, who has previously come out in favor of re-implementing the assault weapons ban.

    While the politicians were flapping their gums, a shooter in California was busting caps in a mall parking lot, more than 50 rounds, according to reports;

    Marcos Gurrola, 42, of Garden Grove was taken into custody by bicycle police officers patrolling around the open-air Fashion Island mall around 4:30 p.m., police spokeswoman Cathy Lowe said. She said he fired into the air and onto the ground in the parking lot near a Macy’s department store.

    No one was injured, but the gunfire caused panic, coming just a day after a gunman killed 26 children and adults at a Connecticut elementary school, and days after a deadly mall shooting in Oregon. Some of the shoppers in California on Saturday said they ran, screaming as they looked for a safe shelter.

    I don’t know how Mr. Gurrola could have been shooting all of those rounds, though. It seems that large capacity magazines have been illegal in California since 2001. Well, not illegal to possess them, but it’s illegal to sell them or borrow them, so unless he’s owned it since 2001 just so he could bust a bunch of caps eleven years later in a parking lot, he got a hold of it illegally somehow.

    The Chicago Sun-Times is waging war on rifles that are .223 caliber judging by the number of times the author uses “.223 caliber rifle” in this article. Just as a word of warning to the Sun-Times, there are handguns in .223 caliber, too. Thompson Center’s Contender comes to mind.

    And of course, Nanny Bloomberg took time time away from slapping babies’ bottles out of their mouths to run his own suck about guns and leadership – both subjects he’s out of his depth on;

    While Mayor Bloomberg said it is right for President Obama to console the grieving in Newtown, on the assault weapons ban he says it’s time for the president to stand up and lead.

    “His views on issues like this are the right views, but the president has to translate those views into action. His job is not just to be well-meaning, his job is to perform and to protect the American public,” said Bloomberg on NBC’s “Meet The Press.”

    Yeah, well, all the Feds can do is disarm law abiding Americans. The incessant “do something” coming from the emotional Left isn’t helpful in the “rational national discussion” they’re saying we should have. Neither are their calls for the death of the NRA President. Or their calls for rewriting the 2d Amendment out of the Bill of Rights.

    As if this whole thing couldn’t get more tawdry, the Westboro non-Baptist non-Church has decided to protest at the services in Newtown, but the hacktivists at Anonymous have finally done something useful and posted WBC’s contact information for their members.

    And, oh, yeah, the local Catholic Church in Newtown received a threatening phone call during services today, and State Police showed up with assault rifles to protect the evacuated parishioners.

  • Idiots in the gun control debate

    Yeah, I’ve read some real stupid shit in teh interwebz today in regards to gun control, but this one just deserved a public answer. It’s from some shithole called Balloon Juice written by a guy named John Cole who explains that he was supposedly in the 11th ACR stationed at Camp Doha between the wars with Iraq;

    So why am I telling you this? Because in the middle of one of the most dangerous regions in the world, even with clear Rules of Engagement, every time I went on gate duty, there was a piece of tape over my ammo clip on my M-16 and M1911 .45. Why? Because the most heavily armed military in the world did not want accidental shootings. If a situation arose, I would have to eject my ammo clip, remove the tape, and reinsert and work the action before I could fire.

    This was in a combat zone. Yet I have spent the last two fucking days dealing with armchair commandos telling me they need unlimited firepower to be safe in… Connecticut.

    If there are bigger pussies in the world than gun nuts, I don’t know who the fuck they are.

    So, because he was such an incompetent boob that he needed to have his ammo taped in his magazine, gun nuts are pussies – yeah, I don’t see the connection either. Besides, he calls them “ammo clips” – who, with more than a day in the Army, calls box magazines “ammo clips”? So, I’m thinking that John Cole was a cook, or anything except someone his unit would allow to guard something. And, I’m pretty sure that between the Iraq Wars, the Army was using 9mm Barettas and not the M1911A1 .45 cal pistol.

    And the reason any magazines were taped wasn’t to prevent the ammunition from loading. The Army did that when ammunition was passed between guard shifts for accountability. But, of course, any dingus who thought they’re called “ammo clips” wouldn’t know that.

    So why do I call Balloon Juice a shit hole? Because all of their writers are gun grabbing facists, apparently. They write shit like this;

    Bernard Finel: If it were in my power, I’d seize every fucking firearm in the country other than revolvers, shotguns, and bolt-action rifles and melt them all down.

    mistermix: If you must own an AR-15 or Bushmaster or AK-47, it should stay locked in your personal gun cabinet at the range, never to leave. If you change ranges, a bonded courier can take it to the new one. The same is true of the high-capacity clips for your Glock, your 100-round drum magazines, and all the other expensive toys that let you bang off a couple of dozen rounds in a minute. Yeah, that’s expensive and a nuisance. So are the laws surrounding other potentially unsafe pursuits.

    Mistermix, my Glock uses high capacity magazines, not clips. The ammunition for my M4 is in clips until I put the bullets in the magazine. If you’re going to talk the language of gun control, learn the language of guns first.

    After posting the Wikipedia entry for events leading up to the UK’s gun ban, Imani Gandy (ABL) posts this;

    Am I suggesting that we ban handguns? No, not really. I am suggesting we have a sensible discussion about gun-control laws that leads to, as President Obama put it, meaningful action.

    If you weren’t suggesting that we ban guns, why did you have to tell us that the UK banned guns because of an incident somewhat similar to Sandy Hook? Every leftist gun grabbing fascist on the internet is talking about “a sensible discussion”, but their discussion of a sensible discussion is senseless.

  • If guns are illegal….

    So some folks are hinting that we need tougher guns laws after the horrific events of yesterday in Connecticut. So let’s say we do somehow rationalize that on a national scale. Luckily we have examples of how well a gun ban works in this country. The District of Columbia, in 1974 forbade handguns within it’s borders. So how did that work out for them? Here we are three decades later and the DC Metro Police are still taking an average of more than 5 illegal guns off of the streets every day;

    Metro DC gun recovery

    Fox News is reporting that Congress is reinvigorated in their call for renewing the “assault weapon ban” of the 90s;

    “I hope and trust that in the next session of Congress there will be sustained and thoughtful debate about America’s gun culture and our responsibility to prevent more loss of life,” said [California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein], who co-sponsored a 1994 bill that resulted in a 10-year ban on many semi-automatic guns, called “assault weapons.”

    The gunman identified in the killings Friday morning at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., purportedly used a Glock pistol and a Bushmaster rifle.

    It’s not often discussed that the DC sniper, who terrorized the Metro DC area in October 2002, used a Bushmaster rifle, the same type used in yesterday’s tragedy, during the “assault weapon ban” which ended in September 2004. So how well did the “assault weapon ban” work?

    The Ruger Mini-14 was one of the weapons included in the “ban”, but the one I bought in 1984 was “grandfathered”. I modified the rifle in 2001, during the ban, by adding a pistol-grip stock and a flash suppressor. The only restriction I had was that I couldn’t buy them both from the same vendor, because “assault weapons” were defined by the ban as a weapon which used detachable box magazines and had at least two of the following; Folding or telescoping stock; Pistol grip; Bayonet mount; Flash suppressor; Grenade launcher. I guess a flash suppressor is just as dangerous as a grenade launcher.

    That’s why I call the “assault weapon ban” the scary-looking weapon ban, because, with the exception of the detachable box magazine and the grenade launcher, none of those features make a semi-automatic rifle more lethal – just more scary-looking.

    I also bought large capacity magazines for the rifle which had been manufactured before the ban – so the gun companies must’ve made huge stocks of them before the ban took effect.

    I’m expecting gun sales to jump again after this weekend, if Congress insists on making an issue of this just to make them feel better about themselves – and make some of our commenters feel better about themselves.
