  • Guess which cities prosecuted the fewest federal gun crimes

    Paul sends us a link to the article by US News which reports that Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse has determined that the cities which are calling for more Federal gun laws the loudest, are the cities where Federal gun crimes are least often prosecuted;

    Federal gun crimes include illegal possession of a firearm in a school zone, illegal sale of a firearm to a juvenile, felon, or drug addict, and illegal transport of a firearm across state lines. In Chicago, the majority of gun charges last year were for firearms violations.

    The districts of Eastern New York, Central California, and Northern Illinois ranked 88th, 89th and 90th, respectively, out of 90 districts, in prosecutions of federal weapons crimes per capita last year….

    I guess that reinforces the claim that we don’t need more laws, just prosecutors who are more willing to do their jobs.

    D.C., which also has tough gun laws, was in the lower half of the list in 2012, coming in at 78th. In 2011, D.C. prosecuted a higher number of gun crimes, coming in at number 49.

    Shining examples of Leftist gun-grabbing wackos all. The article also highlights the fact that all of the mayors of those cities are members of Nanny Bloomberg’s “Mayors Against Illegal Guns” including Nanny Bloomberg himself. They should change the name to Mayors Against Gun Owners so that it’s more in line with their actual goals – or Hypocrites Against Gun Owners, as the case maybe.

  • Mayor Against Illegal Guns arrested in gun crime

    The Inquisitor reports that James Schiliro, a.k.a. Jay Schiliro, the mayor of Marcus Hook, PA and a member of Nanny Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns organization, was arrested on gun charges;

    Schiliro, 38, allegedly ordered a local police officer to bring a 20-year-old male friend to his home, where the mayor plied him with alcohol, and made sexual advances which the man refused. Schiliro allegedly brandished several handguns and fired one of them into the floor in an apparent attempt to intimidate the young man, who reportedly was in fear of his life.

    The mayor was freed on $50,000 bail and told to stay away from the alleged victim and give up his stash of firearms.

    For the record, Schiliro is a Republican, apparently in name only if he freely associates himself with Nanny Bloomberg, but I guess he’s also a huge hypocrite. The Nanny Bloomberg club dropped his name from it’s list of supporters according to the article.

  • It takes a talkin’ a$$

    The folks from Reason send us their video rebuttal to Jim Carrey’s “Cold Dead Hands” song.

    I don’t get too upset over these things. It’s only Jim Carrey, FFS. I didn’t get twisted up over the Dixie Chicks, Michael Moore is still breathing. Their opinions are no more valid than any other person off the street – because that’s all they are – they don’t have any special insight, just a bigger megaphone.

    Anyone, like those dimwits at the Democratic Underground, who place more value on what they say than anything I might say are slaves to the culture. They’re not bright enough to have their own opinions, so they steal one of these airheads’ opinions.

  • Emily Miller: Gun polls shift

    I have no confidence in polls, no matter what the subject is, and reading Emily Miller in the Washington Times today illustrates why;

    The problem with all the polling on Second Amendment issues is that the surveys don’t give enough detail on terminology, so respondents are using their knowledge from the massive public relations battle waged by Mr. Obama and paid for by New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg.

    For example, a recent ABC News/Washington Post Poll asked: “Would you support or oppose a law requiring a nationwide ban on the sale of assault weapons?” Fifty-seven percent said that they did.

    However, I wonder how many people can define what is an “assault weapon”? I’d guess that most people would think it was a fully-automatic, military firearm, which is the actual definition of the term.

    Yeah, the media doesn’t know what they’re talking about in regards to guns, so the people they’re supposed to be educating about the issues are confused, too. But Miller’s article illustrates how the public is losing interest in the issue – mostly because of those same reasons. they don’t know where to go to get accurate information anymore.

    We saw the dingus from that liberal POS blog a few weeks back who said that he intentionally misspoke and used the wrong terms so that his audience would understand. How is that helpful? Back to Ms. Miller;

    [A]ccording to Mrs. Feinstein herself, there are an average 35 people in the U.S. killed each year by rifles with these characteristics. Criminals use handguns because they are easy to conceal on the streets. I’ve not been able to find any law enforcement officers killed by rifles with those characteristics. So, a better poll would follow up by asking: How many people are killed each year by so-called assault weapons? I’d bet most respondents would guess thousands.

    When there are spastic retards like Bloomberg who uses his billions to influence public opinion, that’s the kind of misinformation you’ll get made part of the “national discussion”. But you should read all Miller’s article.

    Speaking of Bloomberg, in another Washington Times article, they report that Bloomberg is taking that inbred redneck commercial we ran last week in Arkansas. Now ask yourself, why would the New York City Mayor care about politics in Arkansas? And why doesn’t he go down there himself and campaign against pro-gun Sen. Mark Pryor, the target of his ads there? Probably because Arkansans would run his goat-smellin’ Yankee ass out.

  • Alabama State Legislator’s email infuriates voters

    A link sent to us by Daric tells the tale of voter, Eddie Maxwell, who sent out a mass email to his legislators pleading with them to not inflict more gun control legislation on him and his neighbors. The response that he got back from one State legislator, Joe Mitchell, wasn’t what he expected;

    Mitchell responded an hour later, telling Maxwell: “Your folk never used all this sheit (sic) to protect my folk from your slave-holding, murdering, adulterous, baby-raping, incestuous, snaggle-toothed, backward-a**ed, inbreed (sic), imported criminal-minded kin folk.”

    “That’s not the type of reply I expect to receive from a state legislator,” Maxwell replied on Feb. 11. “I’m not a racist and I find your reply to be especially offensive considering the position you hold.”

    I think Maxwell’s response to Representative Mitchell was worded much better than anything Mitchell would have received from me if I had been in Mitchell’s place. I’ve been pleading with gun-rights folks to be decent and civilized in this discussion and to obey the laws as they’ve been written. Apparently, I’ve been talking to the wrong M-er F-ers. I wonder what made Mitchell think he could get away with such a racist line of bullshit – well, other than complete arrogance and disregard for the concerns of his constituents.

    I hope the voters reward Mitchell with a job search opportunity, but I doubt they will – and that’s what fuels his arrogance.

  • Extorting CO sheriffs

    Fox News reports that some Colorado sheriffs are being subjected to a form of extortion by State Senators because the law enforcement officers object to the legislature’s restrictive gun control;

    [El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa] cited an email he received from another sheriff that read, “…I have been advised by a reliable source at the Capitol that the Dems are seriously not pleased with the [sheriffs’] positions on the gun bills… support of SB197 [one of the gun bills] would put us in a more favorable light for salary bill support from the Dems…”

    Democrats hold majorities in both legislative houses. Republican Rep. Lori Saine told FoxNews.com that Maketa’s charge must be taken seriously.

    […]

    But Senate Democrats deny that gun politics has anything to do with holding up sheriffs’ pay increases,which are set by state law and have been unchanged since 2006.

    “The position on pay raises has nothing to do with the sheriff’s stance on gun safety legislation, and everything to do with the economy,” Doug Schepman, spokesman for the Senate Democrats, told FoxNews.com.

    Given the unpopular nature of Colorado’s new laws, I have to think that the sheriff is probably correct. Contrary to what we’re told, these state legislatures are ruling against their constituents’ desires. The Democrats think they’re working for the people when in actuality, they’re working for themselves and to feel better – not anything to do with public safety. And the Democrats don’t like being unpopular, so they’ll force compliance to their personal feelings.

  • No gun for Mark Kelly

    Earlier this month, Mark Kelly, the husband of Gabrielle Giffords who runs a gun control-themed political action organization, publicly tried to demonstrate how easy it is to buy a scary black gun – well, it turns out that it’s not so easy. Doug MacKinlay, owner of Diamondback Police Supply, the store where Kelly tried to make the purchase, has cancelled the sale, according to the Arizona Daily Star.

    “I determined that it was in my company’s best interest to terminate this transaction prior to his returning to my store to complete the Federal Form 4473 and NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System) required of Mr. Kelly before he could take possession of this firearm,” MacKinlay said in the statement.

    Kelly said at the time that it was “scary” to think that it is so easy to purchase without a background check, but as this episode illustrates, the seller can control the sale and ineligible buyers are prevented at the point of sale from walking away with a gun they don’t have the credentials to own.

    Of course, Kelly didn’t get to walk out of the store with gun because MacKinlay had bought the gun from a seller off the street and had to hold it for twenty days so law enforcement could determine whether it had been used in a crime or not. So Kelly’s point was pretty blunt anyway.

  • Michael Bloomberg; The American Napoleon

    That petty tyrant up in New York City, Michael Bloomberg, is busy making idiot statements today. According to the Washington Times, he told NBC News that when he sees fit, he can suspend your rights;

    “I do think there are certain times we should infringe on your freedom,” Mr. Bloomberg said, during an appearance on NBC. He made the statement during discussion of his soda ban — just shot down by the courts — and insistence that his fight to control sugary drink portion sizes in the city would go forth.

    It’s no wonder that our founders wrote a Constitution to protect us from this type of government official. His grasp of the concept of inalienable rights granted by a Creator seems somewhat skewed or non-existent. In another Washington Times article, the billionaire claims that he has a responsibility to dictate to us what he thinks is acceptable behavior armed with his billions;

    “I think I have a responsibility, and I think you and all your viewers have responsibilities, to try to make this country safer for our families and for each other,” he told host David Gregory on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “And if I can do that by spending some money and by taking the NRA from being the only voice to being one of the voices so the public can really understand the issues, then I think my money would be well spent, and I think I have an obligation to do that.”

    That “only voice”, the NRA is actually the voice of millions of Americans – the only way, apparently that we can make our voices heard against the cacophony of the main stream media and the tyranny they support. So, I’m wondering where the civil rights lawyers are who would otherwise oppose another billionaire who tries to force his way on Americans in contradiction to the Constitution.

    Clearly, little Mikey has a Napoleon complex and needs to be knocked down a few notches so his ego matches his height. Maybe some New Yorkers should lobby to remove his body guards’ weapons and see if he feels so mighty without the same protection he wants to deny the rest of us.

    I’d love for Bloomberg to run against Bite Me in the 2016 primaries. That would be a blogger’s dream.
