California jewelry store robbery thwarted after owner’s nephew pulls out gun
    By Frank Miles

A California jewelry store owner’s nephew pulled a gun on suspects as the two men allegedly tried to rob his uncle’s store, according to reports.

The suspects, caught on video, allegedly tried to stab owner Jean Boujekian during the attempted robbery at Vana Watch and Jewelry in South Pasadena on Friday, The Orange County Register reported.

“I didn’t feel comfortable so I came out from the back to the floor and my nephew was in the background and one of them pulled out a knife,” Boujekian told KABC.

“Probably the scariest thing — everything slowed done and your adrenaline is pumping. Everything slowed down. It felt like an eternity, but when you look at the video you see it happened very fast,” Boujekian added.

Customer shoots alleged robber at Ukiah Subway
    By Adrian Fernandez Baumann

Ukiah Police Department’s Lt. Cedric Crook has confirmed that the man shot tonight at the Ukiah Subway was allegedly attempting to rob the sandwich shop before he was shot.

The robbery suspect is reported to have been holding customers in the Subway at gunpoint, but Crook stated that the gun “might not be a working gun,” and was potentially a toy or replica, but one that appeared real. A customer at the restaurant shot the robbery suspect at least shot twice, and three bullet casings were found at the scene. The robbery suspect was airlifted to an out of county hospital. The customer who shot the alleged robber is the holder of a locally issued concealed carry weapon permit, and was in Ukiah because his wife was potentially in labor, however, she was apparently at the hospital, and not present while the shooting occurred.

The owner of the Subway location estimated that about $600 were taken during the attempted robbery.

Million Plus NJ Gun Owners Defy State Law, Refuse to Turn Over Banned Gun Mags
Over one million New Jersey Gun owners defy Governor Murphy’s gun magazine ban & turn in demands of what some estimate is easily more than ten million now illegal standard capacity gun mags.

New Jersey’s standard capacity magazine ban is now in effect making New Jersey’s one million gun owners criminals in the eyes of the state. But in an act of mass definace, New Jersey residents refuse to comply.

Any magazine holding more than ten rounds is now illegal in the Garden State. The standard magazine for an AR-15 holds 30 rounds. Glock 19s, which is the most popular pistol in the United States, holds 15 rounds. Anyone who is possession of larger magazine is committing a fourth-degree felony.

Anyone caught with one of the now banned magazines in their possession faces up to 18 months in prison and up to $10,000 in fines or both for each magazine found.

The bill was signed into law last June by Gov. Phil Murphy (D). Residents had until December 11th, 2018, to turn over magazines to police or sell or store them out of state.

Suspected robber shot by victim in Lawrence strip mall
    by Nick McGill
LAWRENCE, Ind. – A suspected robber is now in the hospital after police say he hopped into the wrong car.

Around 8 a.m. Thursday, police say a man was sitting in his car in a shopping center at 42nd and Franklin when another man got in, showed a gun and demanded money. The victim informed the robber that he had none, so the robber instructed him to drive to a Chase Bank branch within the shopping center.

At the time, an armored vehicle was stocking the branch’s ATMs, so the victim attempted to steer towards it hoping to find help. When the robber told the victim to avoid the truck, a fight broke out.

“The robbery victim grabbed his gun and they started fighting in the vehicle in very close quarters over that gun,” Lawrence police Deputy Chief Gary Woodruff said.

Van Buren County man claims self defense in shooting death

PINE GROVE TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Van Buren County man has gone on trial for the shooting death of his ex-wife’s new boyfriend.

It happened in June when Troy Taylor tried to drop off his son at his ex-wife’s house in Gobles and she wasn’t there.

It turned out she was engaged in a sex act with her boyfriend, Tim Henley nearby in his Jeep and was discovered by her daughter.

In the upset and anger that followed, police said Henley began punching the windows in Taylor’s BMW, shattering the driver’s side window.

That’s when Taylor pulled out a hand gun and fired three times at Henley, who would die from the wounds.

Suspected thief dies trying to steal car jack from homeowner, police chief says
Shooting, vehicle crash occurred in 700 block of Jennings Ave.
    By Ben Spicer

SAN ANTONIO – A man attempting to steal a car jack from a homeowner on the city’s South Side has died following a shooting and vehicle crash, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said Tuesday.

The incident occurred just before 6:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Jennings Avenue, which is located not far from Frio City Road and South Zarzamora Street.

McManus said the mechanic had left a jack under a car outside his home when he noticed someone attempting to steal it. That’s when, McManus said, the homeowner confronted the suspect with a gun just before a struggle ensued.

Police said the homeowner tried to hang onto the car before eventually firing several shots.

Authorities say it appears that the suspect may have been hit by the gunfire. The car eventually crashed into a tree the next block over and sustained heavy front-end damage.

Police said the medical examiner will have to determine if the suspect, a man in his 20s, died from the gunshot wounds or the crash.

Break-in thwarted by armed homeowner leading to all-day manhunt & arrest
    by WSYX/WTTE, TOM BOSCO

An attempted burglary turned into a manhunt after a Delaware County homeowner fired shots at the suspect. Deputies arrested Cody Marquette, 27, after searching for hours in rural Delaware County Tuesday.

Marquette is suspected of breaking into several homes along Carter’s Corner Road Tuesday. Investigators say one homeowner saw him leaving his garage carrying items, and tried to shoot at nearby trash cans to scare him away. It turned out the homeowner shot the burglary’s getaway vehicle, hitting the radiator and disabling it. That’s when the suspect had to take off on foot.

The homeowner who interrupted the burglary called 911 immediately, reporting the shooting and describing the suspect as a large man with a black coat and hood. “He looked huge, he looked like a (expletive) monster, excuse my language. I mean huge, he looked like a bear,” the homeowner said.

Did Violation of Massachusetts’ Gun Storage Law Save Man from Pit Bull Attack?
    By: Dean Weingarten

On the 2nd of December, 2018, a 25-year-old man was at home with his girlfriend and a pit bull dog they were fostering. All of them were lying on a bed at about 6 p.m. The dog attacked the man. The man attempted to move the pit bull off of the bed. Instead, the dog bit the man on the left arm, and would not let go. From bostonglobe.com:

In a desperate attempt to end the attack, the man reached for a 9mm handgun he had in his nightstand and shot the dog, police said.

“The single shot stopped the attack and the dog died shortly afterwards,” police said in the statement. “The man is fully licensed to have firearms in Massachusetts.”

The man was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital to be treated for his injuries, police said.

Police took the man’s handgun, a 12-gauge shotgun, and ammunition found in the home “for safekeeping.” The dead pit bull was taken away by Yarmouth animal control officers, police said.

It is unknown if the legal gun owner will be charged in the case.

18-year-old robber dies, was 1 of 2 males found shot in street
    By: Staff Reports

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An 18-year-old who was one of two males found shot in a street Thursday night has died, the Marion County Coroner’s Office said Monday.

Deayris Perkins died of multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner said, but his death is not being considered a criminal homicide because Perkins was trying to rob the other male, Officer Genae Cook said Monday night. The other male, who has not been identified, will not be charged because he was firing his gun in self-defense, she said.

Police said Thursday that two males younger than 25 had been found shot and were in critical condition.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was called to reported “shots fired” about 9:50 p.m. Thursday in the 3800 block of East 31st Street. The call was upgraded to a “person shot” when a person was observed laying in the street and people with guns were nearby, police said Thursday.

No murder charge in shooting, DA rules By AMY HAMILTON

A woman who admitted to the September shooting death of 26-year-old Brandon Sanchez will not face a murder charge, because the case meets all the criteria for self-defense under Colorado’s “Make My Day” law, according to a recent ruling by Mesa County District Attorney Dan Rubinstein.

Melissa Pruitt, 34, told investigators she shot and killed Sanchez after he and another man entered a Grand Junction garage where she and three other people were sleeping, and the two intruders beat up one of the people in the garage.

Pruitt said she had permission and had been staying for a few days at the home at 3116 Chipeta Ave. when she was woken up the night of Sept. 16 by two men hitting “Lil A” — a man later identified as Adam Rodriguez, 27. Pruitt told investigators Sanchez and the other man hit Rodriguez in the face, until his teeth were bashed out and “there was blood everywhere each time they hit him,” an affidavit for her arrest said.

According to the record, Pruitt had seen guns in an unlocked case in the garage so she ran to it, picked out a gun and shot one of the intruders, who then ran outside after being shot.

Police were called to the home and found Sanchez lying in the backyard, dead from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the affidavit.

“I shot him, I didn’t know what to do. He was beating that kid,” Pruitt spontaneously told a deputy, according to the affidavit. “I was woken up by him beating that kid. I didn’t know what to do. I needed to make it stop.”

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The employee at a North Side market is facing no charges for shooting an alleged robber who entered the market Friday evening, according to police.

A man armed with a handgun entered the Alibaba Market at 419 Wolf St., around 7:45 p.m. and tried to rob the store, said police spokesman Sgt. Richard Helterline.

The employee shot the suspect, who fled on foot, police said.

Soon afterward, police found a man on the 600 block of Lemoyne Avenue with gunshot wounds. That’s about a tenth of a mile away from the store.

The alleged, would-be robber was rushed to the hospital and into surgery for his injuries. He was in critical condition but is now in stable condition, according to police.

Police said it doesn’t look like the store employee will be charged, though the investigation is ongoing.
