  • Monday Morning Feel Good Story

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good story this morning to start out the holiday week, this time from West “By God” Virginia where a man was on vacation and got an alert from his alarm system;

    Troopers say Justin Blair and Jimmy Walker kicked in the door — causing an alarm to go off. They say the homeowner received the alert and called a neighbor to go check it out.

    The neighbor caught the men and shot Walker in the abdomen. He was able to hold both men at gunpoint until police arrived.

    Blair was placed in handcuffs and put into a cruiser, but while the trooper was attending to Walker — Blair kicked out the window and escaped. He was later found, arrested and taken to the hospital. He has been released and is now in jail.

  • Friday morning feel good story

    Stacey sends us our feel good story this morning from Minnesota where a gentleman out for an evening stroll, came across a scene where two men were pounding on a market window and a bloody clerk was trying to keep them out;

    “They seemed really agitated, super agitated,” said Matt Dosser, who was walking by about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. At first, “nothing made sense, then I saw the gun.”

    Dosser, who has a permit to carry a gun, reached for his own weapon.

    One of the robbers “turned around and looked at me,” Dosser recalled. “He stared at me. I had my weapon up. I didn’t point the gun at the person. I had it at the ready, out of the holster.

    “His buddy said something to him,” Dosser continued, “and then he had this surprised look on his face, and they both ran to his vehicle and took off.”

    Dosser went into University Market, finding some of its contents overturned and Ahmed wounded and screaming on the phone to 911.

    Ahmed had tried to fight off his attackers, Dosser said. “One tried to distract him, and the other whacked him with a pistol,” Dosser said. “Somehow, he got them out of the store [and locked the door] and they were trying to get back in.”

    Dosser said Ahmed had the “back of his skull split open pretty good.”

    Dosser calmed the store owner and finished the emergency call for him, making sure to tell the dispatcher what he looked like so officers would not mistake him for one of the attackers.

    A good guy with a gun at the right place at the right time.

  • Humpday feel good story

    Mike. Mike. Mike. Chief Tango sends us a link to today’s feel good story, this time from Cleveland where a homeowner obviously was just too good looking to be standing in his driveway without being accosted;

    Police say the two suspects approached the 24-year-old homeowner in the driveway of his house on Rudyard just before 2:30 a.m. The suspects took the owner into the house where he was beaten and pistol-whipped.

    During the confrontation, the homeowner was able to obtain his personal weapon and fired at both suspects, hitting both.

    EMS pronounced one of the suspect dead at the scene. Police arrested a second suspect a short distance away with a gunshot wound to the knee.

    The homeowner had a CCW permit, according to police. I guess he needed it.

  • Tuesday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us a link to this morning’s feel good story to sweeten your coffee, this one from Georgia. Where a homeowner returned home to find a couple of sprites rummaging through his abode.

    The homeowner, who has not been identified, received a call while on the way home that the alarm at his residence had been activated. When he got to the house, he walked around the back of the residence and saw three people standing inside, DeKalb police Capt. Stephen Fore said.

    “He called 911 from a cell phone as he observed people inside the home,” Fore said. “As he was on the phone with 911, the three suspects exited the rear of his home and ran toward him.”

    That is when the homeowner pulled out his gun and shot one of the suspects, police said. The remaining two suspects fled on foot.

    Unfortunately, the burglar with the new hole is expected to survive his minor injury. The homeowner had reported other incidences at his house.

  • Unluckiest criminal in Maryland

    Out of all of the unarmed potential victims in Maryland, Ashley Tomika McCrae, chose one of the few who happened to be a police officer, according to FoxDC;

    The homeowner, a Metropolitan Police Department officer had just arrived at his home on the 6000 block of Hope Drive, Saturday morning when he was approached by a female suspect.

    The suspect was armed with a shotgun and made demands. The homeowner shot the suspect. The suspect then got into a nearby car and fled the scene.

    A short time later, PGPD detectives were called to a hospital in Washington D.C. for a walk-in patient with gunshot wounds. Detectives have linked that patient to the attempted robbery in Temple Hills. She is identified as 26-year-old Ashley Tomika McCrae, of the 3500 block of 6th Street in Southeast Washington.

    All of those unarmed people whom the governor of Maryland won’t allow to protect themselves were lucky today that Ashley is a moron or the news story might read quite differently.

  • Monday morning feel good stories

    Flagwaiver sends us our first feel good story this morning, this one from Washington State where an elderly homeowner was awoken when a feisty young fellow busted through the gate with his car and tried to break into his home.

    The 67-year-old homeowner, who has a heart condition, grabbed a gun and went to investigate after calling 911. The intruder confronted the homeowner and began punching him around, said Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer.

    At that point, the homeowner opened fire, striking and killing the intruder inside the home.

    The homeowner sustained minor injuries in the struggle and was taken to a local hospital. He will not be arrested, Troyer said, adding that he does not expect that the prosecutor will file charges against him.

    The home’s occupants said they did not know the intruder, who “reeked” of marijuana, Troyer said. He said toxicology tests will show if the suspect had other drugs in his system.

  • Saturday feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good story this morning, this time from Lufkin, Texas, where a woman came back from her daily barn chores and found Cody Barnhill in her living room with her jewelry box and her gun in hand;

    She had been feeding her cattle and still had the feed can in her hands, so she swung it at Barnhill. It distracted him just enough to allow her to retrieve the gun from him. She immediately began pulling it out of its holster.

    Barnhill started to run away, but the homeowner shot him in the back. Despite the injury, he still managed to escape and leave the scene in a white Toyota Corolla.

    Authorities searched the area for his vehicle, but were unable to find him anywhere nearby.

    Around 10:30 p.m., Thursday night, police received a 9-1-1 call from a La Quinta Inn in Clute.

    Upon arrival, authorities found Barnhill with a gunshot wound and several items that are believed to have been stolen from multiple locations. Several electronics were among the stolen items.

    The incident occurred around 2 a.m. in the 700 block of N. 46th avenue., the release said. The home’s resident told deputies that he fired his weapon at someone who was attempting to break into his garage and hit him once.

    When deputies arrived, they observed the suspect fleeing the scene but were unable to apprehend him.

    According to the release, Daniel Joshua Driver, 19, attempted to check himself into a hospital under a fake name. He claimed he had been stabbed somewhere off Hollywood Avenue, but the hospital’s staff determined that he had given them false information.
