    Thursday morning feel good stories.

    From Centreville, Virginia

A man who was shot outside a Centreville, Virginia, home early Monday is now facing a charge of unlawful entry, but his shooter likely won’t face charges.

Fairfax County Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Casey Lingan confirmed that the homeowner likely won’t face charges in the incident, as first reported by NBC 4.Early Monday morning, Ethan Redd, 29, tried to enter the residence in the 6300 block of Fairfax National Way when the homeowner fired several shots and wounded him, Fairfax County police said Tuesday following a preliminary investigation.

Officers had been called to the residence around 5 a.m. over a reported burglary after the homeowner saw a man in his backyard.

Redd, of Chantilly, fled the scene after being shot and was found at a Loudoun County hospital. He was later transported to another hospital in Reston, where he’s still being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

    From Las Vegas, NV

Las Vegas police are investigating Wednesday morning after a man shot at a burglar standing in the bedroom in his east Las Vegas home.

Police were called about 3:30 a.m. to a home at 2727 San Vincente St., near Pecos Road and Carey Avenue, according to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon.

The man was home alone when he woke up to a noise and saw another man in his bedroom, Gordon said. He grabbed a handgun and fired three shots at the other man, who ran away.

Gordon said police didn’t find any evidence inside the home that indicated the would-be burglar had been shot, but are still searching for him.

May I suggest a little more time at the range or  a shotgun with #4.

    From Tulsa, OK

Tulsa man arrested after using reportedly stolen gun to shoot at home invaders.  The man, Robert Doxey, 24, reported the shooting and burglary to police. Officers arrested him on allegations that the gun he possessed had been reported stolen in Muskogee, Tulsa Police Capt. Mike Williams said.

Police later reported that Doxey was inside his residence playing video games when someone knocked at the door. He then reportedly heard someone pulling an air conditioner from the window in an apparent attempt to get into the house.

Doxey is alleged to have fired four rounds through the wall from a pistol that was reported stolen.

The man arrived at his residence, located in the 4800 block of East King Street North, around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and saw a red sedan parked nearby. Williams said the homeowner didn’t think much of it until the sedan’s occupants attempted to break into his house.

He gets an “A” for effort but an “F” in execution.  Still, something about this just makes me smile.

  • Wednesday morning feel good stories

    From AURORA, Colorado;

Well, the incident started off with a feel good ending.

A police officer is on paid administrative leave after he shot and killed a homeowner, right after that man shot and killed an intruder in his home.  Police responded to reports of an intruder early Monday morning. When officers arrived, they heard gunfire. They confronted a man armed with a gun, and an officer shot and killed him.

The armed man was actually the homeowner who had just killed the intruder.

Officials say the intruder was found dead on the bathroom floor.

I guess if you kill someone that breaks into your house you probably should not greet the Police with a gun in your hand.

    From CENTREVILLE, VA

The suspected burglar was hit twice and is being treated at a nearby hospital for injuries not considered life threatening.  Around 5 a.m., police responded to a reported burglary. From Milwaukee, WI

Now here is one that becomes a pain in the ass.

FOX 6 reports that the 21-year-old suspect attacked the 33-year-old man—later identified as Thomas Chojnacki—from behind he was leaving on a bicycle on Thursday evening. Surveillance footage shows the suspect run up and take Chojnacki down to the ground. Chojnacki later said the suspect was trying to take his gun.

“He was determined to get that gun. I know if he got the gun, he would have killed me without a second thought,” Chojnacki told TMJ4.  A physical struggle ensues, with the suspect eventually running off. Chojnacki chases after him off camera. After about 15 seconds, Chojnacki returns to his bike. The suspect then comes running towards him, at which point Chojnacki pulls a gun from a holster and aims it at him. The suspect paces around the gas station parking lot while Chojnacki keeps the gun aimed at him.

When the suspect gets closer to Chojnacki’s bike, Chojnacki hits him in the back of the head with his gun, which prompts the suspect to pick something up off the ground and start running. That’s when Chojnacki opens fire and shoots the suspect in the butt.

Police arrived and took the suspect to a hospital. He is expected to recover from his injury. Chojnacki, meanwhile, was interviewed by police in the aftermath of the shooting. It has been confirmed that he is a valid concealed carry permit holder.

“I didn’t have no time to think. he just kept coming and my adrenaline was pumping,” Chojnacki later said.

After reviewing the surveillance footage and the available evidence at the scene, police arrested and charged Chojnacki with reckless endangerment. Milwaukee police say criminal charges are also pending for the suspect.

Authorities say a woman shot a man who was trying to break into her home through the front door on Thursday night.  According to Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, a woman called 911 just before 11 p.m. saying there was a suspicious vehicle in the driveway of her home near 127th Avenue and Camelback Road.  The woman told the 911 operator she didn’t know the man who was inside the car and the man walked up to her front door and tried to enter her home.

After warning the man that she was armed, MCSO says the woman shot him through the front door after he kept trying to enter the home.  When deputies arrived at the home, they found the man on the door step suffering from a gunshot wound.  The man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries where he remains in critical condition.

    From Memphis, TN

Some would-be criminals picked the wrong home to try to break into and found an East Memphis woman was locked, loaded and ready.  As Whitney Lyne tried to wind down for bed on Thursday, some bad guys had other plans.  “As soon as that window burst, I’m running right at her and I am jamming that gun through the door at her,” Lyne said.  “Then I heard a boom and things went silent, and thought she had burst in through the wood door at front and it just got quiet.”

The woman was trying to come in through the front door. At that point, Lyne’s two dogs lost it.  And that’s when she swallowed her fears and grabbed the shotgun her husband told her to use for protection.  Now charging for the side door, where the woman had broken the glass and ready to come in, Lyne and the shotgun stopped the woman dead in her tracks.

“She just nonchalantly just stopped and slowly put her hand up, just walked to her car,” Lyne said. “The guy looked at her, put his hands in the air, backed up and just sped off and they were gone.”

A Phenix City store clerk is feeling uneasy after he says he was forced to shoot a robbery suspect who first held him at gunpoint.

The incident happened Monday night at the Lucky Food Store on 10th Avenue near Pine Hill Baptist Church.

“He was injured pretty badly. He got shot three times,” said the store clerk, who does not want to be identified. “He put a pistol to my back and asked for the money. I gave him the money. He wanted money out of the next register which I told him I could not open.”

The clerk said he was busy stocking the cooler when the robber came in just before 11 p.m.

The reports were obtained by The Herald-Whig through a Freedom of Information Act request to the Adams County state’s attorney’s office.

The homeowner provided a three-sentence statement to investigators through his attorney, Don Schuering, in which he said Graham entered his home “in a violent, riotous and tumultuous manner by breaking though the glass in my front door.”

“Earlier, he threatened to kill me,” the statement read. “When he entered my home I feared he was going to kill me or one of my family members, I feared that his action was imminent, and I believed there was only one way to protect me and my family.”
