    Friday morning feel good story

    From Chief Tango comes today’s feel good story from Mississippi;

    According to the police, Taylor knocked on the front door asking for money, but McLeod denied his request and attempted to close the door. Taylor tried to keep the door open with his foot, which is when the shooting is alleged to have occurred.

    McLeod’s home is located in downtown Holly Springs and doubles as a monument for Elvis Presley. It is a popular tourist destination for college students in surrounding areas.

    The Marshall County coroner told the Daily Journal that Taylor’s body was found just inside the front door.

    “Mr. McLeod and Graceland Too are fully cooperating with the local law enforcement in this matter. The investigation is in the earliest stages and is continuing,” Knecht said in the news release.

    Thursday morning feel good story

    Our feel good story this morning comes from Milwaukee where nurse Victoria Davison defended herself and her car from two thugs who tried to steal it while she was driving;

    On June 23, the 15-year-old was one of two boys who came up behind Davison after she had parked her car near her home and tried to rob her of her keys, she told police.

    According to Davison, one teen told her, “I want the keys, car, everything.”

    Davison said when she didn’t give the teens the keys fast enough, one of the boys said, “Go get the cannon.”

    Thinking it meant a gun, Davison unzipped her gym bag, pulled out her own concealed gun, and shot the 15-year-old.

    The woman told WISN-TV that she had a conceal carry permit, but the Journal Sentinel could not independently confirm that Saturday.

    The article continues that the 15-year-old is suspected in two other car-jackings last month, one ended in the owner getting shot in the face.

    Wednesday morning feel good stories

    This morning’s first feel good story comes from Atlanta;

    The shooting happened just before 7:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Connell Avenue, in a neighborhood off Metropolitan Parkway.

    “The call was actually called in by one of the homeowners and it appears that the individual shot was an intruder on the man’s property,” Atlanta police Capt. Paul Guerrucci told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “The intruder was found outside the house, but we’re still speaking with the homeowner and trying to determine exactly what happened. On the surface, it would appear like a burglary attempt.”

    Over the weekend, someone broke into the man’s home while he was there, police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said. It wasn’t immediately clear if the intruder in Monday’s incident was the same person who broke into the shooter’s home over the weekend.

    The second story for today comes from San Antonio;

    Police said the alleged intruder, a man in his 20s, broke into the home through a back window and was confronted by the homeowner.

    The 70-year-old homeowner then shot the intruder three times in the leg, police said.

    Paramedics transported the alleged intruder to the hospital, and police said he was expected to survive. Police said the intruder would likely be charged with burglary.

    The homeowner told investigators his home had been broken into several times recently so he decided to keep a handgun nearby.

    Authorities said the homeowner got into a scuffle with one of the suspects, and the suspect’s gun went off. The bullet struck one of the two other suspects who broke in.

    He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but the other two got away, deputies said.

    Jabatam sends us our feel good story, this time from Georgia;

    Police said the attacker couldn’t get the key in the ignition and then put his gun down because he didn’t know how to drive a stick shift. Officers said that’s when the woman grabbed his gun and shot him.

    Braxton Davis was one of several neighbors on Blue Ridge Avenue who heard a woman screaming for help on May 3. Police said the woman had just gotten into her car around 10:30 p.m. when Sebastian Fontana walked up.

    “At that point, she locked the doors to the vehicle. The male came up to the window and displayed a firearm in order for her to allow him into the vehicle,” said Atlanta police Officer John Chafee.

    Chafee said the woman let him in and Fontana told her, “We’re going to have some fun.” The woman also described Fontana as having a weird laugh.

    Police said Fontana got frustrated because he didn’t know how to drive a manual transmission. He put the gun down in his lap and the woman grabbed it and tried to get out of the car.

    “The suspect grabbed her, bit her several times and attempted to pull her back in the vehicle,” Chafee said.

    Investigators said Fontana bit her on the arm, leaving visible marks, and at some point she used his own gun to shoot him in the leg.

    In Texas, a burglar got more than he expected when he was confronted with a homeowner wearing nothing but a gun;

    After checking that his wife was sleeping beside him, the homeowner grabbed the 9mm handgun he keeps in his nightstand and leapt out of bed. He didn’t have any clothes on.

    “I have a tattoo of the grim reaper, my hair is sticking up all crazy and I’m naked,” said the homeowner, who asked that his name be withheld for safety reasons. “I’m not sure if (the burglar) was more afraid of me or the gun.”

    Upon confronting the homeowner, the burglar screamed “I’m so sorry, sir” twice before he ran and jumped out of the first-floor window he had apparently used to get into the house.

    Also from Texas, news that tourists bring their guns when they’re traveling;

    Witnesses said the man who was shot, believed to be in his 20s, was acting unruly in the hallway.

    “The individual who was shot was apparently breaking some lights in the ceiling. When the other guest walked by him, there was some type of at least verbal altercation. This is all preliminary,” said McManus.

    Police said that’s when the shooter, reportedly in his 40s, left for his room.

    Investigators said the victim was banging on the man’s door and when he opened it, the victim charged at him.

    The shooter told police he fired once, hitting the victim in the chest and killing him.

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good stories to start the weekend. The first is from Missouri;

    Police say around 4 a.m. Friday, a man reported two men broke into his home on N. Travis and he had been shot.

    Springfield Police Department’s Major Manlove says the man inside the home believes he may have shot one of the intruders.

    Manlove also noted a man entered a local hospital just after 5 a.m. with a gunshot wound. Police are working to determine if the incident is connected to the home invasion.

    Yes, they even happen in California; where Santa Rosa jewelry store owner Ty Visscher was forced to defend his employees;

    “To come in so aggressively,” he recounted, “no care in the world but to take something for the dollar, and not caring about peoples lives, it’s traumatic.”

    “He jumped over the counter, grabbed her by the hair, then the shootout began,” explained Bob Oropeza, who’s wife works at Bennett Vallley Jewelry. She was there when store manager Suzanne Dodd was struck in the arm by a bullet.

    “They started shooting and Ty started shooting, and it was a real live shootout; unbelievable,” said Oropeza.

    At that point, Visscher chased the robbers from the store, and firing from the doorway, hit one of them twice. The suspect fell to the ground and an off-duty cop at a neighboring restaurant ran outside to keep him there.

  • Friday morning feel good story

    Chief Tango sends us our feel good story this morning this time from Mississippi;

    Jackson Police Department spokeswoman Colendula Green said the break-in took place around 2 a.m. Thursday when four men broke into a home.

    The homeowner told police the men took the gun he sleeps with and hit him with it. At some point he was able to regain control of the firearm and shoot at the home invaders.

    One suspect was shot in the head and was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, Green said.

    A second suspect was found shot in the chest behind a vacant house across the street.

    The third suspect took off in one of the homeowner’s Chevy Impala, but it was recovered a short time later on Belvedere Street, Green said. It was taken to the crime lab for processing.
