    Colorado shooting

    Garrett Swasey

    Yesterday, some weird looking dude from South Carolina went to Colorado Springs, Colorado and killed three people, including Garrett Swasey, a 44-year-old local police officer and father of two. The murderer’s motives aren’t known at the time. but since his killing happened in a Planned Parenthood Clinic, we can guess. But, then again, he wasn’t wired too tightly, so who knows. He had a long record of sociopath behavior that included animal cruelty and being an eavesdropper and a peeper. He wasn’t convicted of any of those charges, according to Heavy, he was just guilty of a string of traffic violations.

    If he was there to make a statement about the abortion aspect of Planned Parenthood’s business, murdering people was a bad way to do it. If the pro-Life movement is actually pro-Life, they also have to stand against murdering people, too. I don’t think yesterday’s shooter was that deep, though.

    My own abhorrence of abortion has led me to become against the death penalty, because I don’t trust the government to decide who should live and who should die.

    Unfortunately, the shooter yesterday didn’t make the decision to take his own life yesterday and save us the trouble of prosecuting him and, maybe putting him to death. I won’t mention his name because if he did it to become famous, he won’t get that here.

    Officer Swasey, though joined the force four years ago after moving to Colorado to pursue his world-class figure skating career. He was well-known in his community and appreciated for his work at his church. I’m sure he’ll be missed by more than just his family.

  • Faisal Mohammad; the Merced stabbing suspect

    Yesterday, a fellow by the name of Faisal Mohammad went on a stabbing rampage at University of California in Merced with what has been described as a 8-10 inch knife. Four people were injured, one is still recovering from surgery related to the incident according to ABC30;

    The four victims included two students, one staff member and one construction worker. The Sheriff’s office said as of Thursday morning, one student remains hospitalized but is expected to recover, and the other student was treated and released. The staff member suffered a collapsed lung and was recovering Thursday after successful surgery.

    The construction worker, Byron Price, tells Fresno CBS about the incident;

    “Inside that room he was shooting fish in a barrel,” said Price.

    […]

    The contractor is just thankful, he’s able to go home to his family, still puzzled over why.

    “To become a university student and throw it all away like that, I don’t know why he’d want to do that,” said Price.

    Nine staples in his side and he’s back behind the wheel, driving himself home from the hospital.

    Price says he now thinks differently about having a concealed weapon.

    He wishes he had one when this all unfolded.

    In the video at the above link Price says “[Mohammad] had a smile on his face, he was having fun – which is more what bothers me.”

    Mohammad was shot and killed by campus security after his rampage.

  • Arrest In Spencer Stone Stabbing

    California LEOs have arrested a man in connection with the 8 October stabbing of USAF SSgt Spencer Stone.  Stone was one of the three US citizens who  thwarted the recent French train terror attack by taking down an armed assailant barehanded.  (Two other French citizens – one of whom was American-born – attempted to stop the terrorist bastard prior to that point but were disabled during their struggles.)

    The man arrested was James Tran, who lives IVO Sacremento, CA.  He reportedly has at least one previous felony arrest and known gang connections.  However, authorities do not believe the assault on Stone was gang-related.

    The Fox article has more details.  It’s not too long, and is IMO worth a read.

  • Andrew Myers, Iraq veteran murdered in Colorado

    Andrew Myers, Iraq veteran murdered in Colorado

    Andrew Myers

    Cameron sends us a link to the story of Andrew Myers who was murdered while he was riding hi bicycle by some nutjob who went out on a spree to make a name for himself. Well, that won’t work here. According to KOAA;

    35-year-old Andrew Myers, a victim who was fatally shot in Saturday’s shooting spree in downtown Colorado Springs, was a former Fort Carson soldier.

    According to the Army, he enlisted in 2003. He served in the Army for ten years, and had several deployments in Iraq.

    He received several awards in his time in the Army, including three Army Achievement Medals and three Army Good Conduct Medals. Myers’ highest rank was Sergeant.

    In June 2013, he was administratively discharged as a Private.

    The shooter was killed by police officers, so we’ll be spared the spectacle of a trial.

    As the investigation continues, the suspect’s motive remains unclear. News 5 uncovered some disturbing details that give a look into the gunman’s mind. He had started a blog online, expressing disappointment in his father, who was involved with a church in Redding, California.

    In the post, he wrote, “You’re begging for it anyway, like spineless vegetables. People beg for the responsibility to be obliterated.”

    In a statement, the suspect’s family said they are shocked and deeply saddened, and they expressed sympathy to the victims.

    Yeah, given the irrational babble on his blog, it looks like the family shouldn’t have been all that shocked he was a sociopath, but, I guess we’ll see.

  • New Sheriff for ‘Frisco

    Well, it seems Sodom-by-the-Bay will soon have a new sheriff. Ross Mirkarimi, the incumbent, was soundly defeated in an election held yesterday.

    You may remember Mirkarimi (or at least his office, if not his name) from a few months ago. This is the same Sheriff whose jail released an illegal immigrant felon in spite of the fact that INS authorities had requested a hold on the individual. They did so because of San Francisco’s “sanctuary city” laws.

    That illegal immigrant, Francisco Sanchez, claims he later allegedly “found” a gun wrapped in a shirt; he further claims that when he picked it up, it “went off by itself” and killed an innocent woman – Kate Steinle – near San Francisco’s waterfront. (If you believe that cock-and-bull story, I’ll make you a great deal on the Golden Gate Bridge.)   Had Sanchez been held and turned over to INS as requested, Ms Steinle would doubtless still be alive today.

    It turns out Mirkarimi was a real piece of work in other respects, too. He had multiple other issues – issues that probably were more important to the “wonderful voters” of San Francisco than the sanctuary city/felon illegal immigrant release idiocy. This Fox News article details those issues.

    The lady elected to replace Mirkarimi, Vicki Hennessy, has called San Frisco’s policies in this area “misguided”. She has indicated a willingness to cooperate with INS in “certain cases”.

    Well, we are talking about Sodom-by-the-Bay; full-time use of common sense and complete cooperation regarding illegal immigration enforcement is probably too much to expect. Still, it looks like there soon will be one less bona fide idiot running the show there.

    That’s a good thing.

  • Tijuana to San Diego tunnel discovered

    Tijuana to San Diego tunnel discovered

    drug+tunnel+0803+3

    According to the Associated Press Homeland Security agents discovered a tunnel that ran for 2500 feet under the US/Mexico border from Tijuana to San Diego. They also took 12 tons of weed and 22 criminals out of circulation on the first transit of the tunnel. Apparently, an undercover agent discovered the operation when he was hired for trucks and another warehouse for the smugglers;

    The Mexican suspects were caught off-guard when authorities arrived at the Tijuana warehouse with a search warrant, police said. No shots were fired.

    The drugs found were wrapped in 873 packages covered with plastic and tape.

    On the U.S. side, the tunnel entry point in a warehouse near the Otay Mesa border crossing had no stairs or ladder. U.S. Attorney Laura Duffy said smugglers were believed to be using pulleys.

    Homeland Security says that they’ve been investigating since May.

  • Cops fool burglar

    Bobo sends us a link from Houston, Texas where a citizen with a concealed weapon used his phone instead of his gun to get a burglar arrested. He witnessed a fellow breaking in to a home, so he called the police. The cops told him to stand down and wait for them to get there. When they arrived, they had their own trick up their sleeve;

    The suspect gave up without a fight, in part because he thought police had a trained dog with them.

    “One of the officers told (the suspect) he had a K-9 with him,” Azcuy said. “So, (one of the officers) started barking like a dog and the guy hit the ground. He laid down. They handcuffed him and brought him out.”

    [Officer Orus Baldwin of the Houston Police Department] credits his partner for that action.

    “It wasn’t me,” Baldwin said. “My partner can pretty well sound like a pretty bad dog. But, anyway, it fooled (the suspect).”

  • Vietnamese man gets life for MIA scam

    The Associated Press reports that the Vietnamese government sentenced Nguyen Van Thuy to life in prison for stealing more than 70 sets of remains of unidentified bodies from the war and then convincing families that those remains were their family members. The article says that there are more than 200,000 Vietnamese soldiers still missing from the war making it easy pickings for fraudsters like Thuy and his family. By the way, he wasn’t the only one convicted – his wife and four other relatives were sentenced for up to 25 years for their participation in the fraud.

    Thuy, who claimed to have paranormal power, and his accomplices cheated $363,000 from a charitable fund set up by the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies and from 12 Vietnamese families by charging a fee to find the dead and missing soldiers, he said.

    The families paid Thuy 100 million dong for his services. That’s a lot of dongs – but about $4500.
