  • Moonbattery reaches new heights

    When a small city is packed with news cameras and satellite trucks, it’s inevitable that every crackpot with something to say will show up, and that’s what we’ve got in Denver this week. Folks we haven’t heard in so long are busting ass to Denver so’s they can get in front of the cameras.

  • Counter-Convention looking good

    ComeuptoDenver.org has been begging “progressive social change groups” from across the country to do just that for the Democrat Convention this week, and it seems that every one without a job is complying;

    And the police seem happy, too;

    PBR seems to be the beverage of choice for the sign-makers at Tent State.

    And Veterans For Peace are just there to be in rallies – it doesn’t matter what the rally is for or against (CBS4 Link);

    Robert McLaughlin held aloft a banner supporting abortion rights. He avoided eye contact with a man with a guitar who belted out an anti-abortion song: “It’s a baby, not a molecular glob!”

    McLaughlin tried to ignore the heated exchanges around him, shifting his weight between his feet and looking like he was trying to find his ride home.

    “I don’t know. It’s weird,” said the decorated 67-year-old former staff sergeant, wearing a “Veteran for Peace” T-shirt at the dueling rallies Saturday outside the Planned Parenthood of the Rockies’ headquarters.

    McLaughlin is one of several thousand demonstrators in Denver for the Democratic National Convention that begins Monday. When pressed why he was a counter-demonstrator at an anti-abortion rally, he confessed it was his first one.

    “I’m really here to protest the Iraq war,” he said.

    But in the meantime, you can hold a poster supporting infanticide while you’re waiting for the Iraq Veterans Against the War. Pathetic, actually.

    In the meantime, police are on the lookout for Weapons of Mini-Destruction;

    Denver police are on the lookout for stockpiles of a dozen items ranging from pipes to bikes — things they say could be used to disrupt the Democratic National Convention next week.

    A police bulletin sent to officers and other emergency workers asks them to look out for “medium and large numbers” of things that violent demonstrators could use as weapons.

    Also on the list are shields, helmets, gas masks, chest protectors used in baseball or softball, protest sign handles, hand-held radios, chemicals and maps.

    Police said some of the items on the list have been used by protesters before during demonstrations at events like the DNC.

    Not from people like Wayward Bill, the top photo in this post, who writes at his blog “Deadheads United”;

    (ps; Don’t forget Counter Delegates that while you are in Denver, your surname is Amerika. Afterall aren’t we all Amerikans!)

    Well, you sure are, Bill.

  • Pretzel Logic

    f3h.jpg

    Impeachment seems to be slipping through their fingers, Nancy Pelosi has abandoned them on defunding the war in Iraq. Even their last hope, Barack Obama admits that maybe he won’t pull troops out of Iraq as soon as everyone hoped. So what’s the Left to do? Well, it seems they’re trying to rally State governments in order to stop augmenting our armed forces with National Guard troops. Several organizations link to a central page at Liberty Tree which touts itself as a “Foundation for the Democratic Revolution” and another named Peace Action. This whole movement seems to have started in the most logical of places – Vermont.

  • More drunkblogging pictures

    Tankerbabe sent me some more pictures last night, so I thought I’d post some of the less embarrassing here. She also pointed me to Gun Nutt’s Photobucket if this isn’t enough for you.

  • Friday night drunkblogging Silver Spring

    Late yesterday afternoon I got an email from Blackfive‘s Uncle Jimbo inviting me to Walter Reed for the weekly Friday night FReep and, of course, I accepted. As soon as I got there, Jimbo started getting mischievous and went down to the Code Pink/union thug area and tried to join them with the above pictured sign, explaining that he only wants peace…just like them. But Bruce Wolfe, the union thug who has responsibility for manning the space (since it’s hardly on Code Pink’s radar these days) was having none of it.

  • It’s Obama’s fault

    As I’ve said a few times, this year just isn’t a good year for protests. It’s difficult for me get decent pictures anymore of Code Pink trolls on rolling beds or flocks of SEIU purple-clad socialists being herded by their handlers on the subway.

    All this time I thought the anti-war peace movement was petering out because of their intellectually invalid message. But from Don Surber, I learn that Tom Hayden is blaming Obama in The Nation.

  • MoveOn Won’t Part II

    As I wrote earlier, MoveOn dot Org is upset that the Republicans are staging a revolt on the floor of the House this week demanding that Speaker Pelosi recognize that this is a crisis and that Congress do something about it instead of taking an well-deserved vacation after accomplishing absolutely nothing in the last two years. Under the gaze of Ulysses S. Grant MoveOn.org tried to protest for $10/gallon gas today. General Grant didn’t look pleased.

  • How’d I miss this?

    It seems Code Pink sponsored a Karaoke fundraiser for their heartthrobs at Iraq Veterans Against the War this weekend and I guess I missed it. Where’s my social secretary?

    But, I’ve got the next best thing; a video tour of the IVAW clubhouse conducted by head sociopath and self-promoter Adam Kokesh, who seems to have a hard-on for Nancy Pelosi these days;

     [youtube uuhvkDLgNXk nolink]

     Still, based on illogical dogma, he seems a bit upset that Pelosi and Conyers won’t start impeachment proceedings based on their emotional outbursts.

    The beginning of the video shows DC Cops at a checkpoint near the clubhouse checking cars – that’s been going on for weeks in DC and at random areas because of the escalating crime…not because the metro cops give a damn about the IVAW and their antics. Adam, you guys aren’t worth a checkpoint. Get over yourselves and move your clubhouse to a trendier neighborhood – maybe your dad can sell a few more polo ponies so you can move to Georgetown instead of hiding out on Howard University.
