  • Anti-war crowd starving for attention

    cindysheehanpressweb
    There was a New York Times article this weekend that seems to be making the Left warm in their collective crotch area. “American Antiwar Movement Plans an Autumn Campaign Against Policies on Afghanistan” is making the rounds on the anti-war blogs as some sort of clarion call.

    Anticipating a Pentagon request for more troops there, antiwar leaders have engaged in a flurry of meetings to discuss a month of demonstrations, lobbying, teach-ins and memorials in October to publicize the casualty count, raise concerns about the cost of the war and pressure Congress to demand an exit strategy.

    But they face a starkly changed political climate from just a year ago, when President George W. Bush provided a lightning rod for protests. The health care battle is consuming the resources of labor unions and other core Democratic groups.

  • Professional Presidential stalker heads for Martha’s Vineyard

    Say what you want about Cindy Sheehan, but she’s consistent. Byron York reports that she’s packed her little bandana on a stick and headed to Martha’s Vineyard to camp out at President Obama’s vacation site;

    Will Sheehan’s stay in Massachusetts attract as much attention as her time in Texas? Probably not. Even the left wing of the Democratic party seems unconcerned with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan these days, compared to their bitter opposition during Bush’s time in office.

    From another York column;

    I asked Sheehan about the fact that the press seems to have lost interest in her and her cause. “It’s strange to me that you mention it,” she said. “I haven’t stopped working. I’ve been protesting every time I can, and it’s not covered. But the one time I did get a lot of coverage was when I protested in front of George Bush’s house in Dallas in June. I don’t know what to make of it. Is the press having a honeymoon with Obama? I know the Left is.”

    I guess she’s just jealous that Obama gets more news coverage than she does. I guess like everything else these days, there’s an expiration date on “absolute moral authority“.

    Code Pink won’t even give her any love. They’re planning a trip to Gaza;

  • 32 orgs plan assault on Army Experience Center

    There’s a plot afoot in Philly by 32 Leftist organizations to assault the Army Experience Center at Franklin Mills Mall near Philadelphia. One of my countless moles forwarded this notice to me;

    Activists affiliated with several dozen groups on the east coast will again descend on the Army Experience Center at Franklin Mills Mall in Philadelphia at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 12, 2009.

    A protest on May 2, 2009 at the Army’s interactive video recruiting center was attended by 250 people and saw 7 arrests, but failed to generate mainstream print media coverage.
    This time, demonstrators are being encouraged to form small affinity groups and enter the mall through one of several locations. Protesters are encouraged to express their outrage in creative, nonviolent ways.

  • Code Pink: Our crazy works; yours not so much

    The “mainstream media” portrays exercises in freedom of expression as “disruptions” by “mobs” like this report from MSNBC (thanks to Tankerbabe for the link);

  • Christians for Peace march in Killeen

    kdh-code-pink

    An article in the Killeen Daily Herald reports that a bunch of hippies from Austin and Waco descended upon Fort Hood and Killeen Texas this weekend. Of course, they began their silent march at the IVAW “Under the Hood” cafe. I don’t believe that a more naive bunch of people exist. It sounds to me like they think we’re the only people fighting this war;

    “Our goal is to establish peace and end this war,” [Ray Johnson, retired chaplain] said. “The Creator has better things in store for this nation.”

    The article doesn’t mention what this Ray Johnson was chaplain of, but they sure make it sound like he was in the military don’t they?

    “Our silent march and vigil is not about ‘We,’ the good people, against ‘Them,’ the bad people. On the contrary, those of us here today must have a deep awareness that the soldiers at Fort Hood are people caught in the same trap of war making that we are. They want to earn money to care for their families. They work for their own dignity and self-respect. They work because they love their fellow human beings, their country, their God. The unspeakable tragedy is that their hard work is used to kill the peoples of Iraq and Afghanistan.”

    Throwing in the class warfare card is almost un-Christian, ain’t it?

    Of course, it was a star studded event;

    Victor Agosto, currently facing charges for refusal to go to Afghanistan, joined the group to march for peace. Agosto’s summary court-martial is scheduled for next week. After serving his sentence, he said he would probably be chaptered out of service. He has been in the Army for four years.

    So we’ll be looking for accounts of Victor’s court martial this week.

    But these “Christians for Peace” are new to me, so I had to look them up on the internet. There’s not much about them, really. No information on who supports them (although in the KDH article it mentioned some of them were also members of Code Pink) and their “About” page is pretty sparse. But here’s one little naive nugget to take with you;

    Despite our exorbitant defense budget, we still feel insecure and threatened by a poor and improvised al-Qaida, so we build more systems, even a missile defense system which repeatedly fails.

    I’m pretty sure the missile defense system isn’t intended to defend against al Qaeda, but there are a few countries that we do need to defend against. And calling al Qaeda “poor and impoverished” doesn’t make them any less dangerous or any more endearing.

    Jesus teaches us to love our enemies (Matt 5:43-44), to forgive those who sin against us (Matt 18:21-22), and to deny ourselves, carry our cross, and follow him.

    We believe that war is immoral. The idea that we can kill, we can choose who will live and who will die, to protect our way of life is not in accordance with Jesus’ teachings and life example. The powers of this world use war today, but as Christians our battle is not against flesh and blood, (not against other people) but against these powers (Eph 6:12). As Christians, we do not wage war as the world does (2 Cor 10:3-4).

    I’m pretty sure than Jesus didn’t want us to march like lambs to the slaughter, though. But, like I said, some of these folks are in with Code Pink, and we know their agenda is just to make more money and be obnoxious. These Christians for Peace are cut from the same cloth. Clearly, their message if you look at their website, is based in the class warfare message – we’re all victims of greed and materialism. The US spends money on defense when it could be spent on unicorn farms, rainbow development and Skittles gardens.

    If I were a church-going Christian, I’d be angry, for the same reason I’m angry at Veterans for Peace. Their group’s name insinuates that unless you belong to the group you are “for War”. We all want peace – it’s just that some of us have our feet on the ground. I wonder how much worshiping of Christ and spreading his teachings will get done if the Islamists get their way with us.

  • Speaking of World Can’t Wait

    One of the refugees from IVAW sent me a fund raising letter he got from World Can’t Wait (the organization founded by a lifelong communist) a few months ago. They were trying to solicit $12,000 to send Matthis Chiroux around the country to interdict recruiters’ influence in schools. Here’s the main part of the letter;

  • Pete King vs. Code Pink

    [Name removed by request], an IVAW refugee, wrote to me this morning about a local controversy in Long Island over Republican Congressman Pete King’s YouTube video in which King laments the excessive coverage of Michael Jackson’s inevitable demise. Here’s the video;

    King (and [name removed by request]) says that our focus should be on the troops and their expanding and changing operations in Iraq and Afghanistan – that our media should be geared towards the folks who keep us comfortable rather than on “some pervert”.

    Well, [Name removed by request] writes that Code Pink is mobilizing their drones on Facebook to spam a poll on Newsday that asks asks if King should apologize.

    [Name removed by request] writes:

    I’m losing my f*****g mind knowing that we’ve got a Soldier in Afghanistan who’s been captured and sold to the Taliban and meanwhile America doesn’t give two sh**s because they’re more concerned with Michael Jackson… So for me to see this in my facebook news feed today, I’m thinking the hippies need another reality check….

    Now I’ve had my issues with King in the past, but f**k it, he had a lot more experience with the a$$holes I was surrounding myself with- so when he knew I was associated with IVAW and refused to talk to me, I forgive him for that. Being a professional politician, he knew better than I did.

    Now the peace groups are massing to try to sway an online vote on Newsday’s website to condemn King for his words. I say f**k that, I support King in the idea of HONOR OUR F*****G TROOPS ON INDEPENDENCE DAY and not MJ.

    To me, Code Pink is just grasping at straws here. They’ve gone goofy if they think Americans are going to take the side of Michael Jackson ahead of our troops, but, they’ve spammed the poll pretty well – as I’m looking at it, almost 60% are demanding an apology. So, if you’re inclined, click over at this link and let Code Pink know we can play that game, too.

    While I was sitting in the waiting room at Walter Reed this morning, I was thinking the same thing while CNN was going gaa-gaa over the memorial in LA today. Then I get home, turn on Fox and see the same putrid crap – who cares what Jesse Jackson remembers about Michael Jackson – seriously.

    Meanwhile, only the milblogs seem concerned about the missing soldier in Afghanistan. What’s up with that?
