  • Weirder and odder…

    It appears that Michael Yon has decided to sue General McChrystal according to his Facebook page and Politico;

    I have in my possession compelling evidence of General McChrystal’s smear campaign. It’s been sent to my attorney. The sad part is that McChrystal is incompetent even with a smear campaign. Official statements by his people — in writing — have been defamatory and libelous.

    I find it very difficult to believe that a general fighting a war has so much time on his hands that he can concoct a conspiracy to besmirch the reputation of one reporter. But i thought I’d tell you about it anyway.

  • That long, cold fall from grace

    I got a few emails from readers about this originally on NRO and Michael Yon’s Facebook Wall. Most of your emails began “WTF?”

  • Fan of TAH?

    BooRadley and I have been internet buddies for more than ten years and we’d met a couple of times back when she only had six kids. She approached me yesterday and said she wanted to do more to spread the word about This Ain’t Hell. Remembering the conference panels this past weekend, I told her she could start a fan page on Facebook if she wanted to.

    Oddly enough, she was listening to me and started the Official This Ain’t Hell fan page. Do I know what to do with it? Nope, but 18 people are fans already and she just published it this morning. I guess it’s a place to put the silly-assed stuff you can’t put here.

    So sign up and have a ball. the worst thing that could happen is Facebook pulls it for Sniper’s pictures of TSO in drag situations with various sea creatures.

    Oh, and don’t forget to click the “Follow this blog” button at the bottom of the side bar. We were ahead of Vote Vets in numbers briefly, but they rocketed ahead and it pisses me off.

  • TSO at the Milblog Conference

    In case you missed it, here’s TSO’s interview with Bouhammer at the Milblog Conference;

    2010 Milblog Conference Interview with Mark Seavey from You Served Radio & Blog on Vimeo.

    This is an interview with Mark Seavey. Mark writes the blog This Ain’t Hell (www.thisainthell.us/) and The American Legion’s Burn Pit (burnpit.legion.org).

    See, that’s why TSO is TAH’s face guy.

    I just hand out cigars ;

    Thanks to Jamie for the picture.

    I took all of my cameras, but I wisely left the batteries in their chargers at the house.

  • Milblog Conference

    I’m still unpacking after the Milblog Conference. I stopped off and visited my kids who are still trapped in the Beltway and let the grand kids beat on me for awhile.

    The Milblog Conference was great. it was the first time it ever sold out and despite a night of trying to drain Northern Virginia of adult beverages on Friday, everyone stuck it out until the end on Saturday. There was a lot of good participation from the military services and they answered all of our questions (they even answered all of Army Sergeant’s questions). The highlight of my weekend was getting multiple hugs from my favorite blogger, Baldilocks. And hugs from all of the lovely ladies who make up our community. And I got hugs hugs from Concretebob more times than I want to count.

    If you want to see what kind of great stuff we discussed, there are more videos at YouServed.

    I’m waiting for the awards ceremony video to appear – it was hilarious. i won’t spoil the presentation of the “Veterans” category for you – you have to see the video. As soon as I find it, I’ll get it up.

    Let put this photo up before anyone else does;

    eve-and-me

    That’s me and Eve Chase (from American Women Veterans and their Facebook page) clowning around. We used to have big arguments, but she left IAVA and we’re fine now.

    Now Sniper can’t blackmail me.

  • Wanna be a big time blogger like TSO?

    TSO and I will be at the Milblog Conference beginning tomorrow – actually, i won’t get there until about 3pm – so I’ve decided to offer your folks a chance to participate in this year’s Open Blog Weekend. I’ll be taking applications from you, our readers, for our Open Blog Weekend.

    Yes, you, Joe Schmuck, can a famous big time blogger just like TSO by sending your email address and screen name to admin(at)thisainthell(dot)us. You know we’ve opened up blogging to some current and former IVAW members – so how bad can you be?

    Of course, I’ll have my laptop at the conference, so I can help you with any issues you might have, depending on my level of sobriety, or the lack thereof. I’ll be taking applications from now until late tomorrow morning.

    By the way, anyone who is trying to call me today, I forgot my cell phone, so you’re liable to get an angry Latina woman.

  • Did you vote yet?

    As I mentioned the other day, the Milblogs awards are this week. I don’t need your vote – I know how you feel about TAH. The whole Milblog community needs your vote, though. Honestly, I don’t care who you vote for, as long as you vote so the whole world knows how heavily trafficked and influential the Milblogs really are. The minor nuisance of registering and voting in every category helps to elevate the entire Milblog community.

    So, go here and register and vote here.

    Vote your own preferences. Or hold your nose and vote for TAH.

  • That “collateral murder” video

    Everyone is talking about the video from Wikileaks. UberPig, Laughing Wolf, Rusty Shackelford, Ed Morrissey and Bill Roggio. Rusty takes the pertinent parts of the 17 minute video apart frame by frame.

    Bryan Casler tries to muddy up the conversation at Iraq Veterans Against the War.Katie O’Malley sent us a link to Huffington Post’s discussion on the subject – providing smoke.

    I wasn’t there, I didn’t see what happened before Wikileaks decided where we could begin seeing the video, but based on what I’m seeing, a bunch of friends with AK47s and at least one RPG are crowded on the corner, while one guy sets up security on another corner. Its obvious that they’re up to no good and need to get ventilated before the dismounted US infantry gets in trouble. Simple.

    This is how little the Left knows about what they’re watching. In the narrative, Wikileaks calls Bradleys tanks (that REALLY pisses me off). Then the idiot at Huffington Post describes a Bradley running over a body, but in the video, it’s clearly a HUMV. I guess there isn’t much difference between a hummer and a Brad, huh?

    I’m guessing the anti-war crowd couldn’t watch the video past the title pages.
