Court Orders End to Ban on Gay Service Members

Zombies are at work here at TAH. Be warned!

I deleted this post. Yet it lives.

Now I’m afraid to delete it again!

Since it’s here yet again; read the link and wonder just what the urgency is?

Is there some guy in uniform somewhere wanting to wear a dress?

  • OK, that’s it

It’s time for my annual vacation at Mom’s farm so I figure 28 posts in three days is enough. I’ve handed off control of the blog to the rest of the gang – there’s twelve of them – so there ought to be enough to keep you entertained through the holiday weekend.

If you’re standing along Route 220 or Route 15 in Pennsylvania or Route 14 in New York, wave as I head north for cooler climes.

I hope you all have a patriotic 4th of July.

  • Rationality in Spades

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you’ll ever read
    1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

    2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

    3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

    4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

    5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Someone sent me this. I simply can’t find any argument with the ideas.

There IS merit in striving to negate each idea, mind you, but the simple truth is that none of them works in real life… if you need to read about the failures then you won’t get it.

  • Ruminations on Sheep

Been invested in The New Forum for the last few days…

But someone over there stirred up a thought.

Here’s a point of reference (thanks Matt): Sheep.

There’s a flaw in the good Colonel’s paradigm that I have been ignoring; in  the real world the sheep control the purse strings!

I’m sure most of you have seen his observation and were certain he was talking about YOU?

I certainly did. Mind you his observations are ‘right on’, but I’ve read, and re-read his words with a certain glee until today.

Sheep don’t vote on what Sheep Dog saves them!

  • Idle Question About Handguns?

Really, a freind is using my Kubota to offload logs so I can’t brushhog just now.

Unless you hunt with the thing (a laudable task) do you practice using feet or yards as a measurement?

This query was actually prompted by a discussion elsewhere, but I think it does matter so I’ll value yer input.

I practice with all of my handguns at ten or fifteen feet.  To be sure, part of my rationale has to do with my geezer status, but it also has to do with tactics, I think.

Doesn’t really matter if we’re talking .22 short or .45 ACP… a hand sized group at 15 feet with either hand seems an effective aim?

    YMMV

  • Government By Fiat?

Caveats: Government regulations promulgated by faceless bureaucrats are nothing new, ditto for Executive Orders and memos.

However, it doesn’t hurt to pay attention… So:

White House loosens border rules for 2012

President Barack Obama’s administration is quietly offering a quasi-amnesty for hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants, while aiming to win reelection by mobilizing a wave of new Hispanic voters, say supporters of stronger immigration law enforcement.

The new rules were quietly announced Friday with a new memo from top officials at the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. The “prosecutorial discretion” memo says officials need not enforce immigration laws if illegal immigrants are enrolled in an education center or if their relatives have volunteered for the US military.

Apparently “illegal” is another of those inconvenient words that can be re-defined as needed?

And, closer to home – for me.

Does The New ‘White House Rural Council’ = UN’s Agenda 21?

President Obama’s E.O. 13575 is designed to begin taking control over almost all aspects of the lives of 16% of the American people. Why didn’t we notice it?  Weinergate.  In the middle of the Anthony Weiner scandal, as the press and most of the American people were distracted, President Obama created something called “The White House Rural Council” (WHRC).

Section One of 13575 states the following:

Section 1. Policy. Sixteen percent of the American population lives in rural counties. Strong, sustainable rural communities are essential to winning the future and ensuring American competitiveness in the years ahead. These communities supply our food, fiber, and energy, safeguard our natural resources, and are essential in the development of science and innovation. Though rural communities face numerous challenges, they also present enormous economic potential. The Federal Government has an important role to play in order to expand access to the capital necessary for economic growth, promote innovation, improve access to health care and education, and expand outdoor recreational activities on public lands.

I need not repeat what you can read at the link, but this later effort is likely to impact ME!

I live on 75 acres just outside of  Nowhere, West Virginia. There ALREADY enough rules and regulations about what I can or can’t do here.

  • What could go wrong?

    TSA conducting security exercise

The exercise will cover approximately 5,000 square miles throughout Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. The participating teams are composed of a variety of TSA assets including federal air marshals, canine teams, inspectors and bomb appraisal officers. They will be joined by state and local law enforcement officials to supplement existing resources, provide detection and response capabilities. The exercise will utilize multiple airborne assets, including Blackhawk helicopters and fixed wing aircraft as well as waterborne and surface teams.

“The exercise not only enhances security throughout the region; it gives TSA and our security partners the opportunity to work cooperatively,” said TSA Columbus Federal Security Director Donald Barker. “This work increases our preparedness to respond in case of an emergency.”

I have NO IDEA why the TSA is doing this exercise? Maybe at a seaport, or an airport, but THREE states?

This is enough to overwork my inner paranoid.

  • Anger Management

    You’ll all be happy to know that I recently completed my Anger Management counseling sessions. I’ll be a much happier person from now on because I now know why you people piss me off so much. My counselor was monitoring the blog for the last few weeks, but I didn’t get any feed back. I guess that’s why it took four sessions instead of three. Anyway, here’s the video of the first session;

If you’re wondering why I was mandated to go to anger management, it’s because I told a security guard to “get a real job, fatboy” when he informed me that the parking lot wasn’t a race track. I guess he didn’t know he is a fatboy about like I didn’t know the parking lot isn’t a race track.

Anyway, this blog should be a happier place from now on. I thought you’d want to know.

ADDED: In other pointless blather, you may notice that the blog now has a Facebook “Like” button. My little hippie chick code monkey installed it this morning when she upgraded the WordPress version thingie. Feel free to use it often and let your friends know about the great and exclusive content we try to provide you here at TAH. Thanks for reading.
