  • Flagwaver: Obama Gives Himself Control of all Communication Systems

    Flagwaver sends us his thoughts on an article in World Truth TV entitled “Obama Gives Himself Control of all Communication Systems in America“;

    I’ve seen this movie before. A supposedly pliable senator is elected into a position of command by his friends in the senate, believing him to be easily manipulated. When he is in charge, he sets the senate against themselves by doing "what needs to be done" for the people.

    Some question his motives, but they are shouted down by others who claim they need to look at the bigger picture. When they question the bigger picture, they are shouted down as being against the man and not the policies.

    Eventually, during the crisis that has arisen, the leader creates a private army. This army is different from the regular military, as it is answerable directly to the leader and nobody else. This army is well armed, well trained, and responsible for upholding the peace and security of the Republic during the turbulent times.

    Some question why he would need a non-military fighting force, but he calms their fears by telling them it is just for the crisis and he will return the power to the senate when the crisis is abated.

    Time goes on, and the leader begins unilaterally voting himself ever-increasing power. Some question him, and are shouted down by his supporters who are reaping the benefits of that power. The people question him, but they are told that they are being kept safe and should just go about their lives.

    Their safety is taking a more drastic change, though. No longer are they able to go where they want, when they want. They must not be screened by the private army and carry their papers with them to provide whenever they are asked. They lose their freedoms and are subjected to random searches that are for "safety" of both themselves and their homes. Their weapons are confiscated and their persona violated by this army.

    Some see the truth and attempt to intercede in the course of events they see coming. They are the learned, the patriotic, and the vigilant. However, the leader sees them and tells the Republic they are the threat. The true threat, which was at one point a threat, is quickly forgotten in lieu of this "new enemy."

    That is when the leader, whose origins and motives are far from the safety and security of the republic, makes his move. Overnight, due to a crisis that he caused through covert action, takes complete control. This event is so horrific as to put the past horrors by the forgotten enemy to shame.

    The leader moves in to protect the republic with his army. The "new threat" is blamed and the army arrests them. Those who support the "new threat" are informed upon by their friends and neighbors, to help the leader maintain peace. The army, now tasked with leading the law enforcement and military, clamp down on them all, arresting those who stand against the leader’s grab for power.

    Now, the senate can see what they have created, but it is too late. They have no power; it was all given to the leader. They are disbanded by the leader, as one more step to security of the republic. However, there are still walls in the way of the leader.

    He reorganizes the republic into something different, with him as the supreme ruler. The constitutions of the republic are sent to a museum as he decided what freedoms are given to whom. The people, like sheep because of social welfare programs, support him as long as he gives them what they want. His supporters are rewarded with power over the new regions within this new political monster. And freedom, that which he claimed to support, are taken in lieu of his new found power.

    This may sound like something from Star Wars, and it really is. However, it is also from history. Hitler’s rise in the Weimar Republic to become the Third Reich. The Caliphs rise in Byzantium to become the Ottoman Empire. The Caesar’s rise in the Roman Republic to become the Roman Empire. And now, it appears that our President is going for the same thing.

    Then again, I am just one of those who is targeted as a malcontent. I am a veteran of the military, a member of a subversive political organization (Tea Party), and an owner of firearms. I know that I am on the target list and will be one of the first to be taken when the power grab happens. But, what about you?

  • F&F rifle used in murder of police chief

    The LA Times reports that the Justice Department has discovered that one of the rifles that the BATFE lost track of in the course of their Fast & Furious follies killed a Mexican police chief earlier this year;

    Luis Lucio Rosales Astorga, the police chief in the city of Hostotipaquillo, was shot to death Jan. 29 when gunmen intercepted his patrol car and opened fire. Also killed was one of his bodyguards. His wife and a second bodyguard were wounded.

    Local authorities said eight suspects in their 20s and 30s were arrested after police seized them nearby with a cache of weapons — rifles, grenades, handguns, helmets, bulletproof vests, uniforms and special communications equipment. The area is a hot zone for rival drug gangs, with members of three cartels fighting over turf in the region.

    A semi-automatic WASR rifle, the firearm that killed the chief, was traced back to the Lone Wolf Trading Company, a gun store in Glendale, Ariz. The notation on the Department of Justice trace records said the WASR was used in a “HOMICIDE – WILLFUL – KILL –PUB OFF –GUN” –ATF code for “Homicide, Willful Killing of a Public Official, Gun.”

    The LA Times articles says that hundreds of weapons were lost during the operation, but it was actually thousands. And most of those weapons are still in the hands of criminals.

  • Surprise! Iraq would welcome US military assistance.

    Remember a few years ago when we completely withdrew from Iraq because this administration couldn’t work out a status of forces agreement (SOFA) with the Iraqi government? Well, now, according to the Associated Press, the Iraqis say, yeah, they’ll take our assistance now;

    Ali al-Moussawi, the media adviser for Iraqi prime minister Nouri al-Maliki, told The Associated Press that Baghdad would welcome increased arms sales and faster weapons deliveries along with U.S. training teams to help it confront rising regional instability and terrorist threats.

    “We welcome this kind of cooperation and we consider it a part of the existing agreement between us,” al-Moussawi said when asked about [Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Martin] Dempsey’s comments.

    “Because of the high risks the region faces, I think there should be bigger cooperation and coordination between all countries threatened by terrorism.”

    Yeah, because that terrorism thing just started recently, right? Now, Marty Dempsey said that aid would not mean sending in troops – but that it might include training teams. I guess you guys on training teams aren’t really troops. It also means to me that there wouldn’t be any organic security, meaning that Iraqis would provide security for those training teams. Kinda scary. A country that didn’t want you there just two years ago is going to provide you with security?

    I’m pretty sure that before the troops left Iraq, I made the prediction that we’d be back, but I don’t think even I believed it’d only be two years. Good thing Obama ended the Iraq War for us.

  • Manchin mad at Obama again (Updated with video)

    In case you missed it yesterday, the president tried to divert our attention from his administration’s failures once again by announcing that he’s going to make the Environmental Protection Agency put new emission standards in place for coal-fired power generation stations. Somehow that will save the world’s environment because we tighten emission standards on the billion tons of coal that we burn in the US compared to the eight billion tons that are burned worldwide.

    Of course, the cost of complying with these new standards will fall on consumers, raising the cost of our electricity, effectively a tax which will affect lower income workers most. In the middle of a jobless recession. You know like this administration changed the culture of the military in the middle of a war because intentions are more important than results.

    Well, anyway, Joe Manchin, the junior Senator from West Virginia was just on Fox News expressing his outrage and telling us how he’s mad at the president for this announcement which will greatly impact this state, since we’re still a coal-based economy. He was elected here mainly because he was good on guns and good on coal. Since he was elected, he’s jumped in bed with Chuck Schumer over guns, so this latest faux-anger at the president over the expected hits to the coal industry and consumers will probably end up the same way.

    Fox News admits that the process is a long one;

    Under the process outlined in the Clean Air Act, the EPA cannot act unilaterally, but must work with states to develop the standards, said Jonas Monast, an attorney who directs the climate and energy program at Duke University. An initial proposal will be followed by a months-long public comment period before the EPA can issue final guidance to states. Then the states must create actual plans for plants within their borders, a process likely to take the better part of a year.

    Then the EPA has another four months to decide whether to approve each state’s plan before the implementation period can start.

    In other words, it’s another lawyer-employment opportunity, because most of the regs that come out of the EPA are litigated before they’re completely implemented.

  • Army’s deep cuts

    Chief Tango sends us a link from Stars & Stripes which reports that the Army is making even more cuts to the security of our nation by slashing 12 combat brigades from the force and slashing manpower by nearly 10%;

    By reducing the number of headquarters and increasing the number of battalions per brigade, Odierno said the Army is “increasing our tooth to tail ratio.” He added that while there would be some civilian job losses, many civilian positions are in place to support the basic functions of a post, and won’t be affected.

    Odierno said 10 BCTs would be cut from 10 Army installations: Fort Bliss, Texas; Fort Bragg, N.C.; Fort Campbell, Ky.; Fort Carson, Colo.; Fort Drum, N.Y.; Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Knox, Ky.; Fort Riley, Kan.; Fort Stewart, Ga.; and Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. Another two BCTs used for soldier training will also be cut, officials said.

    An eleventh BCT in a location still undecided will be cut in the future, Odierno said.

    So history is repeating itself, once again. Of course, we’ll have the reserve and Guard units to fill the holes, right? As long as the Guard and reserves don’t mind spending almost as much time in uniform as they would if they were active, then I suppose, retention and recruiting will suffer. Well, luckily, we can still depend on the draft, right? I’m sure no one would avoid the draft, despite the fact that the government has been largely unwilling to deal with draft dodgers and deserters in any meaningful manner.

    And, oh, yeah, I’m sure the impact won’t be felt by communities who largely depend on military presence like Fort Drum & Jefferson County, NY. Although the defense issues are primary, the economy will also take a hit. I wonder if we can get the Constitution changed so we can get four more years out of this administration.

  • John Kerry and the promises he can’t keep

    I guess the Obama Administration is finding their new Secretary of State a bit problematic, since he’s been jetting around the world making promises that the Obama Administration isn’t willing to keep, says CBS News;

    Since succeeding Hillary Rodham Clinton as America’s top diplomat, Kerry has issued several as yet undelivered — and perhaps undeliverable — pledges to allies and rivals alike, proving a source of concern for Obama’s policy team. It is trying to rein in Kerry somewhat, according to officials, which is difficult considering Kerry has spent almost half his tenure so far in the air or on the road, from where his most dissonant policy statements have come.

    The White House quickly distanced itself from both Kerry’s North Korea remarks and has now, since President Barack Obama’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Northern Ireland this past week, seen up close the strength of Moscow’s resistance to Kerry’s Syria strategy.

    So, who is surprised? Certainly not me. John Kerry has been making promises since he went to Paris to talk to the North Vietnamese while he was still a commissioned officer in the Navy Reserve and tried to negotiate with the enemy to release prisoners of war – making promises he couldn’t keep. He’s not new at this.

  • Snowden still loose; US looks foolish

    Back in 2008, I was told that if I voted for Obama, the US would be more respected on the world stage than we had been in the previous eight years of the Bush administration, so this is probably all my fault, because I didn’t vote for Obama, so sorry. But anyway, Hong Kong could have stopped Ed Snowden, the NSA-contracted leaker from leaving and they didn’t.

    The New York Times said that China made the call to let Snowden leave;

    From China’s point of view, analysts said, the departure of Mr. Snowden solved two concerns: how to prevent Beijing’s relationship with the United States from being ensnared in a long legal wrangle in Hong Kong over Mr. Snowden, and how to deal with a Chinese public that widely regards the American computer expert as a hero.

    Yeah, we’re so respected in the world that Snowden is a hero for pissing on our policies.

    Now Snowden is “somewhere in Russia”. You’d think that the Russians would be concerned about an illegal alien wandering around loose, especially an illegal alien who is wanted by all of their ally’s law enforcement entities, but apparently not. Even Politico admits that the boobs in the White House are powerless;

    The spotlight-grabbing international travel — just as Obama seeks to focus attention on his Tuesday climate change speech and a weeklong trip to Africa that begins Wednesday — is sure to keep Snowden’s own story atop the headlines, highlighting the White House’s relative powerlessness to bring him back to face charges.

    Reuters calls Russia “defiant”. Doesn’t sound too much like an ally or that Russia is grateful for Obama scrapping the missile shield for Eastern Europe. Or even his most recent blather about reducing nuclear weapons.

    So Snowden is trying to get into Ecuador which is run by one of Hugo Chavez’ coke huffing buddies, Rafael Correa. it seems to me that if we were respected in the world, the answer would have been a resounding and immediate “no”. Especially from some third world shit hole who needs the US now that Chavez is gone.

    So, like I said, I apologize for not voting for Obama and making such a mess of our foreign policy. I’ll know better next time.

  • SEALs deaths in Benghazi is cool because the President is black. Or something

    Stu sends us a link to a reader’s letter at the Pine Bluff Commercial Online which takes exception to an opinion column in the paper about the two SEALs who were killed in Benghazi. I’m not all that sure what his point is, it’s either that it’s OK to kill former-SEALs who work for the CIA or that it’s OK to kill former SEALs because the president is black;

    Benghazi SEALs

    Stu writes;

    Two bona-fide heroes died in the service of our country in the Benghazi attack, along with two others brave Americans, and all a pathetic individual who probably never wore the uniform can do is disparage their sacrifice. Well Mr. Hansen, your “best research” was not good enough.

    Glen Doherty, served as a Navy SEAL with tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, and left the Navy in 2005 as a petty officer, first class.

    Tyrone Woods, was a Navy SEAL who retired after 20 years of service as a senior chief petty officer. A recipient of the Bronze Star Medal with combat “V” Device for valor in Iraq, he led 12 direct action raids and 10 reconnaissance missions; and served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Middle East and Central America.

    Both of these heroes earned the right to be referred to as a “Navy Seal.” Although they are listed as being State Department contractors at the time of their murder, as Hillary Clinton said about the four deaths, “what difference does it make?”

    A letter or column is not necessary to disparage this President, his actions, lies, and cover ups do it for him. The Hansen’s of this world are now indignant because the media has woke up and are now reporting what has previously been ignored.

    Screw you Karl Hansen.

    My response to Hansen below the fold;
