  • White House rejects Crimea vote

    Ukraine Vote

    According to the Associated Press, before the votes in Crimea has been tallied, the White House was complaining about the results;

    Even before official results were announced, the White House denounced the vote on Crimea joining Russia, saying it violated Ukraine’s constitution and international law and was held under “threats of violence and intimidation from a Russian military intervention.”

    It said “no decisions should be made about the future of Ukraine without the Ukrainian government” and noted that Russia had rejected the deployment of international monitors in Crimea to ensure the rights of ethnic Russians there were protected.

    So, I guess this administration found a constitution that it likes and it happens to be the Ukraine’s constitution. Too bad it wasn’t our Constitution for a change. But Secretary of State John Kerry threatened that the US will now “impose penalties” on Russia. I guess we’ll block the export of KFC’s 11 herbs and spices and rock music. Maybe we’ll airdrop Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus into Red Square and start a twerking frenzy from which the Russians can never recover.

    Kerry expressed “strong concerns”, but he was careful to say that the matter can only be settled politically (ie. no threats of military force). Funny how when you act like a pussy, everyone treats you like one, eh?

  • You Bought His Ticket; He Took You for a Ride

    Perhaps there is some true justice in the revelation today that Barack Obama, apologist to the world for American greatness, has just given a huge part of that scientific and engineering eminence to a world body that has no legal claim to all that which has come from America’s technological genius. Yes, Silicon Valley, it’s true, your messiah is telling you, “You didn’t build that.” How does it feel to have your legs cut from beneath you by this global leveler who has no regard for the huge amount of endeavor and intellect that has gone into this world-changing technology you have created? More or less, he’s telling you that you and all your brilliant accomplishments are no more than co-equal with every other being on this earth, for example, Barack Obama’s destitute, impoverished brother living in the slums of Nairobi. Yes, in Obama World, that man is your equal in every way. Learn to live with it, dude.

    With a scratching of his pen, and perhaps a few regal utterances into his phone, this man who would be king has rendered your amazing technological accomplishments irrelevant and of no consequence, handing over American superiority in computer technology and information systems to a world body that has little regard for ensuring America’s continuation as the incubatory mother of all that is out there on the cutting edge of everything.

    Short version: the messiah you computer geeks believed to be a second coming is selling all of you geeks you down the river; or as is more commonly associated with Barack Obama, throwing you under that muchly over-used bus. How many millions of dollars did you fools funnel to this man who now sells you down the digital river, where you are no longer Americans, but rather subjects of a world body not particularly friendly, if not openly hostile, to American technological superiority?

    I hope you’re ready for millions of you to be replaced/displaced by the poor in third world nations you were always so concerned about, whose plight you always so piously proclaimed. Of course there’s always the option of your relocating from California to Tajikistan’s global networking headquarters, or some other similarly appealing enviro to pursue your digital dreams.

    Hey, geniuses, you bought the guy a ticket and he took you for a ride.

  • Obama’s Surgeon Corporal

    You’d think that the Obama administration would, in a crucial election year, be a smidgen less confrontational when it comes to appointees requiring congressional approval. Immediately on the heels of a failed Justice Department nomination of another liberal radical minority candidate, the tone-deaf but determined apparatchiks surrounding our part-time president have forwarded another dubious appointee, this one to the surgeon general’s office. Out of the tens of thousands of wise and experienced American physicians available for consideration, do they offer up the Democratic equivalent of a Ben Carson – an accomplished, demonstrably erudite and constitutionally patriotic neurosurgeon? Well, no. It’s the political equivalent of a big fat middle finger to those who have dedicated decades of their lives to caring for America’s health.

    The decision-making ideologues in this ideological administration have offered to the Congress for their approval a callow 36-year-old radical liberal, Dr. Vivek Hallegere Murthy, who can be guaranteed to carry out their ideological mission of politicizing medicine in ways the American people could never anticipate. Want your doctor visit to include a thorough quiz about the firearms you possess? Want to be required by federal law to have their serial numbers in your medical records?

    This British-born whiz-kid nominee is no doubt a bright boy, as demonstrated by his academic fast track, but in the world of medicine, he is precisely that: a boy, über-bright, assuredly, but as yet not a fully tested member of the medical profession who has earned the respect of that large, gray, wise eminence that oversees the hands-on health management of this nation.

    Make no mistake about it: this is not an administration nominating the best candidate to oversee the health concerns of this country. This is nothing more than a far-left administration attempting to secure just one more niche in the government power structure with the placement of a Kool-Aid-consuming true believer of their socialist agenda. Murthy is an outright opponent of 2nd Amendment rights, which is most likely what determined his selection by the administration. If that doesn’t wake you up to the reality that the Democrats are coming for your guns, then you are part of the problem.

    We have seen the effect of electing a young, inexperienced president simply because it allowed the nation to achieve a first in world governance and history. That was an event that temporarily elevated America in the eyes of the world, until the obvious foolishness of such national impulse began to show. Had that young, inexperienced chief executive seized the moment and surrounded himself with citizens of true accomplishment and wisdom, this nation and this world might have found itself in a far different posture from what we have now.

    This latest appointee, Dr. Vivek Hallegere Murthy, is but the most recent example of this administration’s deceitful intent and dismissive disdain for those its members govern. Dr. Murthy, like our president before election in 2008, has never managed anything. He’s like a community organizer in the medical community: politically active, medically questionable. Surely even some of the Democrat members of the Senate can see through the obvious and deliberate politics of this nomination and realize the total inadequacy of this nominee. If they can’t, their constituents can.

    Young Murthy would be no surgeon general. At best, he’ll be a surgeon corporal.

  • Marine units not deployable

    The Marine Corps Times reports that about half of stateside Marine Corps units “were at an acceptable level of readiness last September” as a result of sequestration budget cuts.

    The data comes from the Marine Corps’ Defense Readiness Reporting System, said Marine Corps spokesman Capt. Eric Flanagan. The system, established as a concept across the Defense Department at the turn of the century and enhanced with new requirements for the Marine Corps in 2010, collects data on unit resources, training and preparation, which is then reported to the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

    Flanagan did not specify what the units at unacceptable readiness levels were lacking.

    “In total, they were missing some form of personnel, equipment and/or training,” he said via email.

    Of course, I don’t have to remind this audience that we’re still involved in a war, with hotspots around the world flaring up. Sequestration was the result of a White House proposal and Congressional spinelessness to cut the federal budget across the board. They can throw fingers at each other, but the blame is non-partisan. And, oh, look at their solution – more cuts to defense.

  • International Impotence

    As the much of world eagerly awaits the results of the face-off between a pinkly-pectoraled Putin and our metrosexual commander in chief in this mother of all Mexican standoffs, there is much to ponder. While Putin’s ongoing media campaign to present him to the world as a real man, physically strong and constantly engaged in activities that are associated with masculinity, virility, strength and courage may appear as laughable to American supporters of Barack Obama, the truth is, it’s working, in the rest of the world, in Spades.

    We here in America tend to forget that much of that world which lies outside our borders lacks our richly well-earned and deeply ingrained sense of skepticism and cynicism that comes with the blessing of living in an open, democratic society. There are countless countries around the globe where, through oppressive governmental media manipulation, opinions and political sentiments within the public sector are formed in such a way as to support those in control and those leaders of other countries whose views on governance reflect their own.

    What it all boils down to is that while effete, liberal America scoffs at Vladimir Putin’s Marlboro Man campaign to present himself around the globe as a virile, vigorous and above all else, strong, world leader, the rest of the world, minus the sneering liberals, is buying it wholesale. If such a survey were possible, it would be ever so interesting to see the results of a world-wide opinion analysis matching Putin against Obama. Mind you, this is just a suspicion from an old veteran of seven decades but I’m betting our metrosexual prezzie would not fare well around the globe against that shamelessly shirtless Soviet man of the world. I’d settle for just a survey of world national leaders. I suspect that Obama would lose that by astounding numbers as well. Go ahead, ask the world who’s flaccid in policy and performance.

    Osama bin Ladin nailed it with his strong horse, weak horse description of geopolitics. He may have been wrong about many things but that assessment is a universal truth. Those leaders who exude strength, both political and of deep belief and character, attract followers and political support. Unfortunately for America at the moment, Vladimir Putin, a man with a demonstrable record of accomplishment as a KGB colonel, has done that exceedingly well on the world stage so that Russia is perceived as strongly and decisively led.

    Contrast Putin’s record with that of our affirmative action president and you quickly see why the United States is operating from such a position of weakness in this current confrontation over the Ukraine, and particularly the Crimea. Too unfortunately for America, those photo-shopped pics of a broad-chested Putin riding a huge brown, Russian bear, juxtaposed with those of a sissy-imaged Obama on his bicycle are devastating to this country in the arena of world public opinion. The Russians elevated a former KGB colonel with some expectation of what he might turn out to be as a national leader.

    An informationally deficient American electorate elected, and then re-elected, a man with no provable record of accomplishment anywhere in his past. That is proving out to be on the world stage what was easily predictable: our metrosexual president, a man of wide and demonstrable lack of accomplishment, isn’t capable of playing on the same field as that bare-chested Russian Bear. One has to wonder if sometime in the future the world might be witness to a vision of peace:

    Two single tubs, side by side, overlooking a sun-setting eternity, with a pinkish, broad-shouldered silhouette in the one tub, holding hands with the jug-eared silhouette in the other.

  • US sending fighters to Baltics

    In a perfect example of how this administration uses the military to shore up it’s failed foreign policies, the Obama Administration has ordered six more F-15s and one KC-135 to react to the problems created by the Russians in the Ukraine, according to Fox News;

    The U.S. currently provides four F-15s to what’s known as the Baltic Air Policing rotation. The additional aircraft will be sent from a base in Britain to Siauliai Air Base in Lithuania, the official said.

    “This action comes at the request of our Baltic Allies and further demonstrates our commitment to NATO security,” the official said.

    In addition, the official said the Pentagon is now “consulting” with Polish allies on “increasing activities” in connection with a separate detachment mission in that country. Poland currently hosts 10 U.S. Air Force personnel as part of joint aviation training work.

    I wonder if those military people staffing this new surge will get all of their COLA, or if they’ll be able to shop in a commissary when they come home. Maybe NATO will make accommodations for them

  • Bi-partisan vote against Obama’s DoJ civil rights nominee

    The Washington Times reports that in a bi-partisan vote, the Senate voted against the president’s nominee for the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights head, Debo P. Adegbile. Of course, Harry Reid says that it was racism that drove the Republicans to vote against him. No word on what made the Democrats vote the way they did.

    A furious Mr. Reid hinted that Republicans’ opposition was based on racism, pointing to to several other black nominees that GOP senators had opposed earlier. But in the case of Mr. Adegbile, his defense of Abu-Jamal was too much for even some Democrats.

    The Senate blocked Mr. Adegbile on a 52-47 vote, with eight Democrats voting along with Republicans for the filibuster. One of those was Mr. Reid, who had to change to vote for the filibuster in order to be able to ask for an eventual re-vote — which he did.

    “Maybe it’s time that America had a good discussion on civil rights,” Mr. Reid fumed.

    Signifying the heft of the vote, Vice President Joseph R. Biden was in the chair, prepared to break a tie vote if it had come to that.

    Of course, the controversy centered around Mr. Adegbile defense of Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal, who had been convicted of killing a police officer in Philadelphia in 1981, stating that Abu-Jamal ‘s trial had been tainted by racism.

  • Tax cuts are only good in election years

    Reuters that the Obama White House is planning to buy votes in the mid-term elections by giving tax breaks to the unwashed masses;

    President Barack Obama will propose an expansion of popular tax credits for middle class and working poor Americans on Tuesday in a fiscal 2015 budget designed to serve as a blueprint for Democrats in this year’s congressional elections.

    The budget, which would also create automatic retirement accounts known as IRAs for some 13 million workers, has little chance of getting enacted.

    But it codifies the president’s policy priorities ahead of the November race, in which Democrats hope to keep control of the U.S. Senate and Republicans hope to expand their majority in the House of Representatives.

    I always support tax breaks for everyone, but this seems to be targeted towards a majority of voters, instead of a majority of Americans. That makes it more of a class warfare thing, meant to polarize Americans. It also comes at a time when veterans are being told to give up more, further alienating groups of Americans.

    [Obama’s] proposal would expand the Earned Income Tax Credit, a government anti-poverty measure that is meant to encourage low-income Americans to work. The expansion would cover some 13.5 million people who do not have children.

    It would also make the program available to younger workers who are not currently eligible, the White House said.

    So basically, we’re pitting “the poor” against the rich and the troops.
