  • The simplistic anti-intellectual BS of Jake Diliberto

    Marine Corporal Jake Diliberto, co-founder of Veterans for Rethinking Afghanistan went on CNN yesterday to spread his simplistic bullshit about withdrawing from Afghanistan because bin Laden is dead. The same crap he wrote the other day.

    He says that we went to Afghanistan to destroy al Qaeda and that the war isn’t against the Afghanistan people. He’s right in that respect – but he forgets that we went there to destroy the Taliban, too, because they were the government which welcomed al Qaeda and any number of other terrorist organizations and created an environment which allowed them to flourish and a base from which they could launch attacks.

    And al Qaeda is by no means destroyed. I’m sure they’re busy right this moment planning retribution for the death of bin Laden. That’s why my initial post on the subject was cautious.

    It’s short-sighted and naive to think that the death of bin Laden is excuse enough to cut and run from Afghanistan. Like I wrote yesterday, every time we’ve left the job unfinished, it’s come back to bite us in the ass – all the way back to WWI Germany.

    The Taliban is convinced they’re at war with us, why does Diliberto think we’re not at war with them? The last person I’d like to find myself in agreement with is Barney Franks, the guy CNN uses to open the discussion.

    Thanks to Jake for sending us the video. Obviously he subscribes to the theory that any publicity is good publicity. I hope to disabuse him of that notion. For the crowd that prides themselves on being the ones who actually do “critical thinking” they sure don’t get that 1+1 doesn’t equal 1.

  • The tortuous debate about torture

    The CIA Director has admitted that, to a point, “harsh interrogayion methods” were used with some success in the bin :aden operation. According to the Washington Times, Panetta said;

    CIA Director Leon E. Panetta said some threads of intelligence among the multiple origins came through the use of harsh interrogation.

    “Clearly, some of it came from detainees and the interrogation of detainees, but we also had information from other sources as well,” Mr. Panetta said on NBC News.

    Asked to deny that waterboarding was among the tactics used to extract the intelligence that led to the successful mission, Mr. Panetta said: “No. I think some of the detainees clearly were, you know, they used these enhanced interrogation techniques against some of these detainees.”

    The CIA director also said that “the debate about whether we would have gotten the same information through other approaches I think is always going to be an open question.”

    That must drive the Anthony Camerino crowd crazy since Camerino has spent thousands of George Soros dollars to preach to us about how useless “torture” and being generally mean to Islamists doesn’t work as an interrogation technique. Not to mention the President.

    How tough can waterboarding be if a giant pussy like Matthis can voluntarily tolerate it?

    Added: “Torture lover” Uncle Jimbo on the subject at Blackfive and on Russia TV. Somehow Jim thinks that yellow suit he wore last week looks good on TV, too.

  • Matthis the “Deather”

    One of my ninjas sent us these screen shots of Matthis calling BS on the death of bin Laden – probably using his skills as a CSI – something else he’s never done.

    Why would they need to do an autopsy, Matthis? They know how he died – there’s video of him getting a pair of lead injections. I guess all of that VA money for your education went to waste. Notice that Ethan McCord of “Collateral Murder” fame and IVAW’s Seth Manzel both “liked” his post.

    Now, he’s traveled the world and you Americans are the worst people in it;

    The great thing about America is that you’re free to leave anytime you want, boy-o. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

  • bin Laden still dead and feeding the fish

    Sporkmaster sends us this CNN video of Dan Choi in his dress blues at Ground Zero this morning it begins at about 7:40 if you don’t want to sit through all of the CNN blather;

    Of course, he makes it more about himself than about the moment.

    In loosely related news, Jeff Schogol of Stars and Stripes wants us to know that they’ve aggregated all of their bin Laden links on one page for your research convenience.

    Then there’s the news of the guy who accidentally tweeted the raid on bin Laden’s compound.

    Michelle Malkin points out who’s really politicizing the death of bin Laden.

    The Jawa Report’s Rusty Shackelford writes about NY’s Islamists who congratulate bin Laden on the event of his martyrdom.

    Barney Franks, on Think Progress says that bin Laden’s death “strengthens the case” for cutting and running from Afghanistan.

    Hamas is upset while the Abbas government welcomes the news.

    Islamic clerics question the burial at sea. Tough…we pwned bin Laden and we could do what we wanted with his rotting corpse.

  • Duff: I knew bin Laden was dead, but now I’m skeptical

    We’ve watched Gordon Duff come down on both sides of an issue before, but this is probably the most breath – taking. While the hunt for bin Laden was an ongoing process, Duff claimed for years he was already dead, but now with confirmed reports that bin Laden is dead, Duff doubts it;

    As to reports made today and the President’s speech, we are highly skeptical. Issues of “timing,” citing the release of Obama’s birth certificate and the crushing of top contender Donald Trump could be seen as sources for doubt but coincidence and circumstance can go either way, any way or no way at all.

    How he has a readership is beyond me.

    Meanwhile “CPT” Eric May is predictably warning of nuclear strikes by al Qaeda as a result of the death of bin Laden;

    U.S. claims of a successful military operation that killed Osama bin Laden (OBL) come on the heels of a story out of Guantanamo Bay, according to which Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM) said that Al-Qaeda is prepared to launch a “nuclear hellstorm” against the United States and United Kingdom in the event that OBL was killed or captured.

    As if al Qaeda would restrain themselves in using weapons of mass destruction against us until bin Laden was killed.

    How anyone with a functional brain cell can be fans of these two mega-hacks is beyond me.

  • Rethink Afghanistan: the rationale for war has evaporated

    As in my previous posts the group Rethink Afghanistan published this as a response to the reports of Osama’s death.

    On May 1st, 2011, we learned that a CIA operation in Pakistan killed Osama bin Laden.

    After 10 years of war and the death of Osama bin Laden, it’s time to bring the troops home from Afghanistan. With al-Qaeda driven from the country and Bin Laden now dead, the rationale for war has evaporated. It’s time to stop now.

    The swift withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan must begin immediately.

    Ok lets get this straight the raid happened in Pakistan, something that Rethink Afghanistan has been very vocal about being against it.

    In fact that Rethink Afghanistan was putting out videos that decry that a turning point was about to be reached. So if we had listened to you back then we would not have this moment. So that being said why should we listen to you now?

  • A twelve year old suicide bomber used in latest attack.

    On the beginning of a promised summer Taliban offensive a twelve year old boy used as suicide bomber killed at least four and wounded more then twelve at a local bazar.

    The BBC’s Paul Wood in Kabul says some believe the suicide bomber, if he was 12, would be one of the youngest ever to have staged such an attack.

    By one count there are more than 150 would-be suicide bombers between 13-17 years of age who have been intercepted by the Afghan security forces, he reports.

    The UN is making it standard statements.

    The top U.N. official in Afghanistan, Staffan de Mistura, called on pro-government forces and Taliban militants not to launch attacks on civilian locations or in areas where civilians gather. He also urged insurgents not to use improvised explosive devices indiscriminately, and called on Afghan and coalition forces to better regulate air strikes and nighttime raids targeting militants.

    I would like the UN to do something without replying on NATO or the US to save them. But we can’t have everything now can we. But with videos like this is there any wonder that the Taliban will continue to keep fighting like this.

  • Code Pink gets buyer’s remorse

    I don’t really feel sorry for her but poor Chelsea Byers admits that she was a sucker for buying into the Hope and Change;

    She goes on to list all of her grievances;

    There are so many things to be frustrated about, it boggles the mind, chief among them:
    — After promising to close Guantanamo, Obama now has signed an Executive Order directing that dozens of inmates continue to be held indefinitely without charges.
    — WikiLeaker Pfc. Bradley Manning is allegedly being tortured in prison and our President has already declared him guilty before he’s even been tried.
    — The use of unmanned drones in Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, and Pakistan is killing innocent civilians (not to mention our own troops), escalating the war in Libya, and only making the world more dangerous.
    — While he is waging war in Libya, Obama hasn’t even taken a strong stand against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for killing peaceful protestors.

    When you buy a unicorn, don’t be surprised when turns out to be a horse with a cardboard horn duct taped to it’s forehead and those Skittles poops taste like crap.
