Daniel sends us a link to some hippie piles-of-shit who want your vote on which billboard they should erect to assault the eyes of DC commuters on I-95;
I’m happy to see that 224 ignorant assholes have been separated from $14,000 for this worthwhile cause. That’s $14k that won’t get to al Qaeda.
I’m sure that the billboard will change how America sees the little bone smuggler who had a hissy fit because his boyfriend dumped him and got people killed.
Rethink Afghanistan posting with a duel idealism again. It comes down to the same ideas of veterans from the Vietnam War. That we are ether a victim or a killer of innocents. Something that seems to be surviving the years.
With Bin Laden dead and al Qaeda driven from Afghanistan, there’s no justification for keeping a massive military campaign going in that country. But the U.S. continues to do so, and more civilians have paid the price. According to Reuters,
“Foreign troops killed an Afghan child and wounded four others when responding to insurgent fire in volatile eastern Kunar province, the provincial Governor said on Monday, the third accidental killing of young civilians in less than a week.”
These deaths, like the war itself, are senseless. Help us get the word out that it’s time to end the war and stop putting civilians at risk. Sign our petition at http://rethinkafghanistan.com/ and get the troops home.
Senseless, given the recent suicide attacks and that fact that the Taliban threat is still real. Oh the Taliban is actively recruiting kids for suicide bombers as a alternative to harsh sharia law for crime such as losing a hand for stealing.
The Taliban gave Noor Mohammad a simple choice – either they would cut off his hand for stealing or he could redeem himself and bring glory on his family by becoming a suicide bomber.
Held in Taliban custody in a different village from his parents, after allegedly stealing mobile phones during a wedding party in his village, the 14-year-old boy went for the second option.
He was soon being given basic lessons in how to use a handgun, which he would use to shoot the guards at a nearby US military base in Ghazni, a province in south-east Afghanistan which is considered the most violent in the country.
He was also fitted with a suicide vest that covered his torso with explosives. He was told that when inside the base he should touch two trailing wires together, killing himself and as many US and Afghan soldiers as possible.
The article goes into some of the kids being told that only American would die when the bombs go off. Consider that this is not the first time that information like this has been found, how do you handle in treating children like non-combative s when the enemy only sees them as walking bombs.
But thinking that the Taliban and similar groups do actions like this and trying to deal with this threat is viewed as senseless. Oh it’s your fault be it directly or indirectly that child soldiers/suicide bombers are killing people.
But considering the above the message is not getting through.
if I roast my neighbor’s six year old son with a welding unit, people would be shocked, outraged and angry and call for my execution-but if I organize a drone bombing raid, or drop an incendiary bomb from 30,00 feet and kill the same child, then I’m a loyal and dutiful soldier-from the time I was small( 1940’s), I could never square this circle and after a lifetime of thinking about it, I still can’t. that’s why after four years of guarding Minuteman ICBMs, I became a pacifist for life..
The profit motive is more important than people. That is the state of humanity, folks. When will we evolve out of this barbaric state? It won’t happen by itself. What will catalyze the paradigm shift? The USA going completely bankrupt? We’re already there, actually. The war profiteers don’t give a shit. We’re all just cannon fodder.
The IVAW put on a dinner to honor Malalai Joya, a legislator in Afghanistan’s Loya Jirga who is an ungrateful bint and spends most of her time complaining about the US presence in her country. Malalai Joya was the woman to whom Matthis apologized for occupying the corner booth at Baskin-Robbins at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan for six days and terrorizing the population when they ran out of sprinkles for his ice cream sundae. I think he pointed his long plastic spoon at some children which causes him some measure of discomfort these days.
But, anyway, Joya was telling IVAW about the horrors that have been perpetrated on the Afghans by the US, and, of course, hardly no one in the IVAW has actually seen the war in Afghanistan, they take her at her word;
Joya complete ignores the fact that if the US leaves and the Taliban take over the government again, she’ll be one of the first to be punished, and horribly so. That if the US hadn’t moved against the Taliban, she’d never become a member of the legislature.
So it makes sense that IVAW would honor her…because she’s as dishonest as they are.
TWo of my ninjas sent us this link to “We Are Not Your Soldiers” anti-recruiting efforts in a Philadelphia High School last Wednesday. Notice at about 4:50 into the video, Samantha goldman walks into the classroom and the camera follows her capturing some of the students’ faces.
You don’t have to watch the video, it’s the same old “poverty draft” blather. At about 8:40 Matthis tells the students that he was suicidal after he got out of the military “because of what I experienced”. I guess the Baskin Robbins at Bagram ran out of Rocky Road one day.
By the way, I have the collection of photos that Matthis circulating as proof that he went “outside the wire” during his six days in Afghanistan. I’d like someone who has been there to evaluate the pictures. If you want to see them, email me and I’ll send them to you. It looks to me that he didn’t get too far outside the wire, though. And how far can you get in six days?
The last time Wright went on one of these flotillas, Israeli commandos attacked the boats. We can only hope that this time they’ll just sink the flotilla. Here’s a YouTube video of Wright announcing her intentions to invade a sovereign country in violation of it’s laws.
You have a great opportunity to send her your money so she can go off on this fool’s errand to appease Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah.
There’s some information on We Are Not Your Soldiers next tour dates, but it’s not clear and it may be a counter-intel operation. We know that Elaine Brower is a regular here because she shuts down the videos we embed, so this may be a stunt to make us look foolish, but here goes;
Monday, May 16th: High School of Staten Island, has invited Matthis Chiroux and Joe Urgo to speak in four different classrooms. The school is located in a very conservative area of the most republican borough of New York City. However, thanks to a very progressive teacher of High School Seniors, Maria, we will be there talking to the students about the horrors of war.
Wednesday, May 18th: New Jersey Convent High School, located in Bergen County, New Jersey, again Matthis and Joe, along with anti-war military mom, Elaine Brower, will be speaking to two classes of High School students. If you are a student in the New Jersey area, please contact Susan, who is a teacher there, at 917-520-0767, and ask to have the tour come to your school!
In an article posted today on the “We Are Not Your Soldiers” website, Matthis brags about how he converted some students to his anti-recruiter campaign in Manhattan earlier;
Matthis, explained that recruiters will prey on the youth, as young as it takes to get them interested in joining the “delayed entry program” so that by the time they graduate high school, they are taken off to basic training. At basic training young children are taught tactics to de-humanize the “enemy”, who, at this point in history, are the Muslim population around the world.
The students were fascinated by the discussion, and many had decided to wear the “We Are not Your Soldiers” bandanas, and to confront the recruiters when they approach them. They also decided to form a student group that will plan to keep recruiters out of the school, and away from their friends.
Talk about instilling irrational fears. It’s not like the military kidnaps children off the street. Or drive a paddy wagon up to the high school graduation ceremonies and force the newly-minted graduates off to far-away basic training centers.
I never saw “young children” when I was at basic training. I saw young men – probably because old men make poor soldiers. The military doesn’t want you if you don’t want to be there. And I’d like to know how we were “taught tactics to dehumanize the enemy”.
My impression is that this program lies a damn sight more than any recruiting battalion ever could lie.
Will sends us links to several articles referring to an unplanned and planned flag burning at Louisiana State university by a dual citizenship student by the name of Isaac Eslava, who by the sounds of it is pleased that his right to free speech is protected in the US, but less so in his other country, Colombia.
Eslava took down a flag at the University’s war memorial and burned it last week and another student plans to do so once again today in solidarity with the criminal Eslava (Boston Herald link);
LSU police said a university flag taken from the same pole, a piece of Eslava’s clothing, drug paraphernalia and red and black spray paint were found in a stolen car, and red and black graffiti was sprayed early Monday on apartments north of campus.
Drug paraphernalia in a stolen car? Whose rights did he violate to express his own?
A student at Louisiana State University reportedly is planning to burn an American flag on campus Wednesday as part of a peaceful protest, the student newspaper reports.
LSU’s student government president Cody Wells told The Daily Reveille that he and others plan to hold their own counter ceremony an hour after the protest, saying the Pledge of Allegiance and singing the national anthem.
Benjamin Haas, communication studies graduate student, will burn an American flag tomorrow at noon on the Parade Ground as part of a peaceful protest, according to Cody Wells, Student Government president.
Wells said Haas is exercising his First Amendment right to burn the flag.
Just because you have a right, doesn’t make it proper to exercise it, Junior.
Isn’t school hard enough that these “students” don’t have more important things to do?
Now we’re hearing that it went down this way – there was a huge crowd full of combative folks. Somebody in the crowd read an e-mail with the news above that Haas decided not to burn the flag. Big cheer went up.
But then Haas was spotted walking across the parade grounds, and he got rushed by some of the crowd. Water balloons were in full flight. Police were everywhere, and Haas was quickly escorted into a cruiser on Highland Road and spirited away.
You’ve got to appreciate the tactical skill of the crowd.
