  • TaH Theme Song Suggestions

This is a bit ‘off the wall’  even for me, so standby…

Had lunch with commenter Doc Bailey today. Of course we solved all of our country’s problems… without a single beer being consumed! Haven’t tried that in ages.

Doc posited that TaH is one of the last bulwarks against liberal domination in this country. Not TaH alone, of course, but as a member of the alternative media it has a role that is not trivial.

On the way home I remembered that some months (years?) ago I proposed a theme song.

If Jonn doesn’t delete this outright HE gets to be the final arbiter.

    My Choice:

  • Doh!

    You all know I’m paranoid…

    File these under “Maybe not?

First we have a post, from WAPO no-less?
Growing wealth widens distance between lawmakers and constituents

But the financial gap between Americans and their representatives in Congress has widened considerably since then, according to an analysis of financial disclosures by The Washington Post.

Between 1984 and 2009, the median net worth of a member of the House has risen 2 1 / 2 times, according to the analysis of financial disclosures, rising from $280,000 to $725,000 in inflation-adjusted dollars.

Anyone surprised by these figures can STILL vote don’t ya know?

This one is kinda easy, sadly. Still It IS what we must consider at the ballot box? It is also not new or news here. It just fits in THAT paranoid niche.
Ron Paul Under Fire for Praising Accused Traitor

Fox News is the latest news organization to pick up on the revelation, first reported by AIM, that Ron Paul had praised WikiLeaks source Bradley Manning as a hero and patriot. Directly referring to WikiLeaks and Army soldier Bradley Manning being held in detention, Paul said, “Should he be locked up in prison or should we see him as a political hero? Maybe he is a true patriot—who reveals what’s going on in government.” The comment drew strong applause from Paul supporters.

  • MMM, Good!

Was having an exchange on FB that turned into something else.

I am sincerely curious.  While in the Navy I was never a ‘snake eater’, and I’ve never eaten monkey brains, etc.

I have eaten various bugs and dog,  and C-rats, even MREs.

So what is the weirdest thing (your call) that YOU have eaten?

ETA (update): Group Proposes Turning to Wild Horses for Food

LAS VEGAS — Nevada’s wild horses have been at the center of controversy for years, but the debate is now getting more attention because of a meeting going on in Las Vegas this week with people who want to round up the horses and slaughter them for food.

Protestors have been on the Las Vegas Strip educating the public about what’s being discussed at the horse summit. Some ranchers want to open a slaughter house in Wyoming and then use the horses for human consumption.

They say it is a humane way to ease the horse over-population problem, but wild horse advocates disagree saying the move is all about making a quick buck.

“They are claiming that we have so many wild horses that this is the humane way to dispose of them and basically what they are is a group horse breeders and livestock industry people who want to promote the slaughter of horses and continue the irresponsible breeding of horses,” said Suzanne Roy with American Wild Horse Preservation.

  • 9/11 – One Perspective

Last week, before my local drama, our commenter Doc Bailey and I were swapping emails, or talking on the phone, about this ‘n that.  He mentioned a ‘discussion’ he’d had with a professor(?) about 9/11. I asked him to put it in writing. Although I admit to knowing about the historical aspect, I never did put it all together.

There IS a Ron Paul kinda thing involved in that it was all our fault, etc. The West did not embrace Islam… Just a mere 400 year time warp.

    In Doc’s words:

Americans are still trying to grasp what September 11th means. For some it is a sign of an evil conspiracy of truly vast and epic proportions to shock a nation, and indeed the world, and thus increase the power of the people who set out to do it. There are a lot of theories on this point as to the who, the why and the how. The “truther” movement has been thoroughly debunked, but this view persists.

Another view is that this was a random flailing of fanatics of a sub-sect of Islam. Thus the violence is random, and thus far more incomprehensible. Why would they attack us? Most Americans didn’t know (or care) that these yahoos in the middle of A-stan existed. al-Qaeda? What the hell is that? Even the name is poorly understood. “The base”? What the hell is that? that 19 men (most of the “muscle” with only rudimentary education) could catch our national apparatus so unaware shocked us to the very core.

There is a third option, that is poorly understood by Westerners. This was deliberate, well planned and everything about it had symbolism. Granted symbolism that most of us would not get. We get the two Airlines being used. United and American, no big surprise there, If there had been an Airline that had “states” somewhere in the title, you can bet that this would have been thrown in too. But why a Tuesday? Why September 11th? Why Hijack AND suicide attacks? In the past it was always one or the other. There would usually be some bold and grand statement of how we were evil, and they were carrying out Allah’s will for justice or something. (more…)

  • A Thing Done Right?

Picked this up via Chuck Z.  It is quite long, but here’s a snippet:

T’was the night before Christmas and all through the Mosque
Not a hajji was stirring, as their houses were tossed.

Blackfive was posting gibberish, his search bar was down,
He’d been drinking all day and was wearing a gown.

Jimbo was smiling, an ear-to-ear affair
He’d just edited his Chrismas video in Yellow underwear.

CV, our CV, was playing Warcraft,
As his mother in law looked at Caro and laughed.

Taco was flying to some Caribbean locale,
Doing barrel rolls in Boeings to the delight of his pals,

Our Carrie was at home alone, once again…
She’s been drinking, as usual, and out with her friends.

Maggie was blotto, the cancer remised,
She knew she was gonna stay wicked pissed.

Marcus was out dropping resumes and job hunting,
Which is hard to do when all you wear is Christmas bunting.

Jacki was packing her apartment (and she’d better)
She’s a plane to catch, to get to warm weather.

All the other milbloggers took time to lament,
The POTUS’ Hawaiian vacation, while breathing words of concern,
Of our troops withdrawals–from the places they’d been sent,
Now Home to an economy in shambles and no way to make rent.

Semi-obscure references for some to be sure,  but the whole piece is priceless.

  • Christmas Eve In Rock Cave.

Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! If you’re a Pagan, or some such, then Happy (whatever floats your boat)!

Yeah, I left out Islam and a bazillion other religions/sects. [shrug]

From this seat it kinda feels like Bizarro  World or maybe The Onion is real after all?

Drudge’s lead has to do with fighting over shoes and the list just goes on…

Just got back from a funeral, BTW, so my perspective is certainly warped.

I AM looking forward to a Happy New Year… really!

Ever the optimist I also sincerely do hope you all have a great holiday season!

  • Oh crap… Perfect Timing or What?

Via Doc Bailey and FB. Blame him!
Up to 64,000 Graves at Arlington Misidentified or Misplaced, Army Report Finds

ARLINGTON, Va. –  Thousands of grave markers at Arlington National Cemetery may need to be replaced or added to accurately account for the dead, following a meticulous Army review of each of the nearly 260,000 headstones and niche covers on the grounds.

In a report to Congress on Thursday, the Army found potential discrepancies between headstones and cemetery paperwork on about 64,000 grave markers — about one in four.

Congress ordered the review last year following reports of misidentified and misplaced graves that led to the ouster of the cemetery’s top executives.

  • How Dare Anyone to Make a Comparison?

Don Surber did it.  I don’t think he actually juxtaposed the pix, but the buck has to stop somewhere?
