Let’s be honest, none of you are productive members of society. You’re surfing the net at work and doing nothing. Well, atleast nourish your brain as you waste man-hours. Go over to Frontline and watch this special on Afghanistan and the problems which the next President will inherite. Trust me, it is worth your time.

Woried Women of America: From Shore to Shining Shore…
….of the Potomac.
So, on a whim, I started looking at the commenters at WWA. There are 3 that use their full names.
Isabel Taylor. There’s atleast one who lives in Washington, DC. Wonder what she does for a living…
How about Kathy Pauli…. Unemployed, living in DC, donating to BO.
My personal favorite is Megan Beyer. Now, I am sure there are a lot of Megan Beyer’s out there, so it’s not neccessarily the one that works for Persephone Productions who happens to be the wife of the former Dem LT. Gov of Virginia who now works for NARAL, but it is much funnier to assume it is.
Besides, it allows me to post comments like this at the site. The topic of this one was poor grandma that Bush is throwing out of the house because he failed to do anything anout Fannie Mae. The link in the comment is to a Megan Beyer who gives money to Dems. To the tune of 30,000 in a 2-day stretch alone.

Again, it might not be those people, but it never hurts to shake the tree and see what rotten apples might fall out.

VoteVets: The Queens of Astroturfing
OK, that was unjust. Or, atleast unfair to astroturf, which as we all know is quite useful in the back of an El Camino.
The other day on Uncle Jimbo and Bells’ radio power hour I talked about the continuum of left wing veterans groups. I stated then that the furthest to the center was IAVA, and the lunatic fringe was IVAW and VetPac. I’ve discussed all of them but hadn’t had good reason to discuss VoteVets until today.
Of all the groups, this one I despise the most. Because they have no integrity or honor whatsoever. This is how they declare themselves:
VoteVets Action Fund is a 501(c)(4) organization which primarily focuses on nonpartisan education and advocacy on behalf veterans and their families. VoteVets Political Action Committee is a federal political committee which primarily helps elect Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran candidates and educates about veterans and military issues aimed at influencing the outcome of the next election…VoteVets.org PAC has three primary goals: Elect Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans to public office – regardless of party….

Attack of the Astroturf: “Worried Women of America” short on women, long on XY chromosomes…
I love a good faux-grassroots group. A poster over at Little Green Footballs noted a Youtube user going by the name McBushBINLying and questioned who was bankrolling him. Anyway, I started hunting around a bit. Seems McBushBINLying just started up a few weeks ago, and doesn’t like the Republican nominee. He also seems to have a friend named McCainsNotAmerican who is pressing this ridiculous Panamanian thing. I won’t even go into how retarded that is. Anyway, that second person joined on October 17. BinLying joined the day before.
BinLying likes to compare McCain to Hitler, which is like *SO* original. My personal favorite video of his is cleverly entitled “ALL RACIST FOR MCCAIN-MCCAIN IS NOT WHITE HES PANAMANIAN.” Because, as you all know, Panamanians aren’t white. A lot of the charges this asshat makes appear to be based on the website ProgressiveOhio.org. His video either uses the same info as that site, or they both get it from the same source. Either way, note the picture of McCain at the top, and the prolific use of it in his videos. (And once again, using fallacious votes, just take a look.)
That isn’t really dispositive of anything, so I kept digging. Seems BinLying here also is a big fan of Worried Women of America. He Favorites all their videos. Ever heard of ’em? Nope, me neither.
So I went to their website. Look for the “Who We Are” page. It ain’t there. There is no indication whatsoever as to who these Worried Women are. But, if you are a worried woman, you can make a video and send it in to them:
We invite you to address an issue of urgent importance to you. A simple declaration of your concerns about the consequences of electing this year’s GOP ticket will do. Feel free to submit ideas, your feelings on the below topics or even a simple phrase.
Send the videos to:

Washington, DC 20036Wait a minute…..Worried Women of America is run by a dude? Not just one dude, 3 dudes. Here is CommCore’s website. There’s Andrew, Jerry and Nicholas, the women who are worried. They aren’t worried about using small children in their hit piece videos though. Not even a little:
Their actors are just that, actors. Those videos are no more grassroots than Star Wars. I’m going to keep digging, but I just love these groups. Love ’em. Here’s an idea: if you aren’t actually dudes, how about proving that.
UPDATE: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! John McCain is pushing poisoned Chinese toys on Children!
Have you no shame John McCain!
These are undoubtably the worst ads of the election, no? I emailed the clown running this circus, but I doubt I will hear back from him.

In other news: The Backstreet Boys really suck
I got an email this morning from DC area sports-fiend and all around great guy “The Sports Curmudgeon.” (As a sidenote, if you like sports, go to his site and sign up for his newsletter which is phenomenal.)
He covers a little of everything in his rants, but today it had this:
I can understand if you tuned into the first game of the World Series last night and heard the Backstreet Boys massacre the National Anthem how you might have hit the remote and gone to another channel. That was one of the most brutal renditions of the anthem that I have ever heard – – and major sports events have been the venue for more than a few really awful renditions. Let me say five things to any and all “artists” invited to sing the National Anthem at any future sporting event:
1. The anthem has words. Stick to them.
2. The anthem has a melody. Sing the melody.
3. The anthem is a song; it is not a mini-series. It can – and should – be finished in 90 seconds.
4. Singing the anthem is an honor – – not a time for you to demonstrate your interpretation of the musical piece.
5. Sing the song; wave to the crowd; shut up; leave so the game can begin.
Here is a question for the Rays’ management who booked those clowns to sing the anthem:
Are you sure William Hung already had a gig for last night?Thinking perhaps he was merely being curmudgeonly, I went and watch it at youtube. Nope, he’s right. It sucked. There is only one acceptible version of the National Anthem for sporting events, with the possible exception of being able to do the Little Richard version from the movie Mystery, Alaska.
You be the judge:

Update: Response from Obama campaign official/PAC President
Some of you may remember this post wherein I discussed how Col. Richard Klass serves as both the President of The Council for a Livable World’s Veterans Alliance for Security and Democracy (CLW-VETPAC ) and as the Co-chair of Vets for Obama.
I followed up that post with this one which noted that despite being officials within the Obama campaign, both he and the VetPac vice-president produced a video that stated that they were not affiliated with any candidate or party.
So I wrote to Col Klass:
Your video claims that your group “is not affiliated with any candidate or party”. And yet you are the Co-chair of vets for Obama, and your vice president is a democratic delegate for Obama. Would you care to explain the seeming discrepancy for attribution on my blog?
Last night Col Klass responded, and in toto it reads:
Thanks for your interest in CLW-VETPAC.
First, the video was produced at no cost to CLW-VETPAC and was put on the net so that those who wanted to could pay for it to be shown on television with their name as responsible Second, like all Political Action Committees (PAC) we are in the business of supporting candidates who share our views. Our primary focus is progressive veterans but we also endorse against those who we deem anti-veteran. We endorsed Senator Obama for president in some part because of Sen. McCain’s shameful record in this regard. In addition to the items mentioned in the video, Sen. McCain has received a “D” grade from the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America while Sen. Obama received a “B”. Sen. McCain has supported Disabled American Veterans legislative priorities 20% of the time, Sen. Obama 80%.
All of our Board members are free to endorse any candidate they want as individuals. Now, I hope by now you know how I feel about these assinine and inaccurate scorecards. But that isn’t the BEST thing about his response. Here is the last 3 sentences thereof:
Yes, I am a volunteer for the Obama campaign as is Ms. Walker. But the organization has no ties to the campaign or to any candidate beyond endorsing and, in some cases, financially supporting them. That is what PACs do.
Someone please explain how those first two sentences can logically follow with each other. No ties to the campaign, except the people who are running the PAC are also on the campaign?

What is the proper gift…
to honor the cop that arrested phony combat veteran Matthis Chiroux? This is Peter Sikinger of the Nassua County Police Department. (On left)

According to phony Afghanistan Veteran Matthis Chiroux:Look at you friend’s face,” said one officer. “You’re responsible for that.” As if I gave the order to charge horses onto a crowded sidewalk. I saw this same officer in the Colony diner where we went to eat after we were charged with disorderly conduct and released. He was with the one who threatened me with prison rape, and when I approached them respectfully and again asked for their names, he leapt to his feet, threw his finger in my face and began threatening to “beat my ass” if I didn’t drop it.
Afterward, one of his friends, also a police officer, approached me, accused me of being drunk and said I was about to get arrested again. I retorted that his accusations were false (considering I’d only gotten out of jail 30 minutes prior) and that I was only interested in learning the names of the officers who arrested and harassed us as I have the legal right to do. He responded with only his name, which he said was Peter Sikinger, but refused to reveal the names of his partners, though to his credit, he did back down from threatening me with arrest.
Anyway- I want to get Det Sikinger something nice, but what? A fruit basket has a nice irony to it, but Sikinger is clearly all man. A Dirty Harry boxed set? And a 12 pack of Guinness? I don’t know, gotta get him something though. Who wants to join me in honoring the man who caused phony combat and Afghanistan veteran Matthis Chiroux to run crying to Michael Moore?
In case I wasn’t clear, Matthis Chiroux is a phony Afghanistan Combat veteran.
